My rescue void.
I was on holiday in Mexico feeding the stray cats - when one evening, this starved kitten gobbled up all the food he could. He jumped on me and clang on to me so tight - I couldn’t possible put him back on the streets.
My air bnb was nearby so I hid him in my bag through desk security, got a makeshift litter box from a cardboard box from a pizza shop, and rice as litter from convenience store.
I took him to the vets and got his shots and deworming. I started looking for a local home for him which was quite tricky as Mexico has a lot of stray cats in need.
During my last couple of days - one of the cat lovers from my friends work adopted him. I’ve been back to the city couple of times and caught up with him and the kitty, and let me tell you - he is living his best life being an adventure cat in Mexico with his new dad who loves him so much. I’m grateful for all the photo updates I get regularly from his dad.
I still have a hole in my heart because I got so attached to him and developed an unbreakable bond. One day I will have my own rescue void kitty. Just wanted to share.
If anyone asks ‼️ why couldn’t I take him?
I’m leaving the U.S. with two cats to AUS and the process is long and expensive. Bringing a cat from Mexico was not possible.
