Finally moved my system to a sunnier place and was able to do a clean out . The gravel was packed with 7 years with of solids and decomposed leaves. Anyway noticed my plants didn't look the best so got one of these water tester deals for the first time and want to see if I'm reading this right . Looks like I have like no nitrates right ? It been up and running for like two months but only have like 5-6 smaller gold fish take it I would probably get a few more right ?
Anyone got any low recoil .270 win loads they like ? About done fixing up my wife's .270 she inherited ( was for her dad and he was 3x her size so it didn't fit her at all so had to get and mod a new stock , new scope , rail bedding ect ) but she's pretty recoil sensitive so I've been trying to work up a lil 100yd plinking and pig type load . I got something that will work using some 6.8 SPC bullets, that's a bit more around a .243 recoil wise and just some odd powders I had on hand but wanted to see if anyone has something a lil better .
Also I don't have a gunsmith within a few hours so no a break or rebarrel isn't an option, sorry
Wife said shed love a stock like one of mine for the .270 she inherited, and since the old stock really doesn't fit her at all figured why not. Just used a boyds pro varmint like i did for mine , took some material off , a re worked the grip, had he pick out a wood dye she liked , still gotta put another coat or two on and some clear coat....aannnnd bed it but it's coming along
Hello peeps , looking for some suggestions here . Wanna try and grow a small patch or two of bamboo for archery arrows , fishing rod building materials and a few other lil projects, looking at Tonkin bamboo right now but was curious if anyone maybe had a better suggestion for species I should look at and where to order some in the southeast US . Also any advice on getting them to grow kinda fast ? Don't really need them super big .
Thanks
Bought this Handi rifle in .22 hornet a few years back because...idk I liked it . And it quickly became one of the biggest fucking headaches. Wouldn't shoot smaller then like 2" at 50yd and like 5" at 100yd went down a whole rabbit hole on H&R Handi rifles ( apparently it's common for groups to go to shit after the second round so most of the die hard Handi guys just do 2 shot groups ) . Bore scoped it found out the barrel was pitted kinda bad put it on the shelf for later . Fond a slightly better barrel last year and finally dragged it out today for a semi serious load development .... Seating depth testing didn't seem to do to much but seem 12.6gr of lil gun has it good enough for shooting varmints in the cow pasture ๐คท
Which Hornady head space comparator are y'all using for measuring shoulder bumps on 7.62x54r . Know it's not really needed but I prefer to keep track on how much I'm bumping my shoulders back .
So saw a few posts no too long ago from people looking to get into quail about how tim intensive they are , what daily care looks like , yadda yadda . I'm only like two years into quail but over 25yr with other live stock from chickens to cows and honestly I feel these lil potatos are some of the easiest live stock you can raise if your smart about it .
I don't keep them 100% as pets though so I'm not the guy to ask about that arena of things ๐ and before you copy anything I do 100% please please please look at your own environment needs and circumstances first
This one quail does this at least twice a week , goes to the exact same place , and then will just let you pick her up ...I. I don't know how to feel about her anymore, lucky I'm not particularly fond of quail meat ๐ซฉ๐ I just need to make a flight pen at this point ๐
Learned how to make netting from scratch when I was like 12 and have been making all sorts ever since ( hoop nets , turtle traps , hammocks , purse nets ect ). Came in handy not long ago when my dog chewed a hole in a new electric net . Lil trimming, some poly wire and some netting work and got here patched up. Something I recommend folks learn if they can don't cost a ton lotta free videos on YouTube ๐
Alrighty I weld a lot of steel doing stuff around the farm , making gates , stakes , all sorts of stuff ( stick and mig) but really wanna play with aluminum a bit . Been welding for 15 years or so just never got around to aluminum past some spool gun stuff at a old job of mine. I don't really have alot of need to weld aluminum though and it would be more of a learning experience or once in a while deal. So don't wanna drop $1000's on a aluminum set up. What are some set up options for a cheapskate just wanting to do it /be able to do a small repair every now and then ? Already talked to my gas supplier and the cost for a argon bottle is not bad at all just need a machine because all mine are DC only.
Honestly I'd be game to use one of those lil Chinese ones if anyone has a recommendation for one that's not complete and total crap. Really don't need the best of the best just a way to stick some aluminum together lol
Got into quail a year ago after someone dumped on on me after they failed , currently have 12 and gotta say there some of the easiest livestock lol. Just finicky with there egg laying
Had some messages asking aabout my rabbit tractor from last night's post and how hard it is to move so made a lil super cut from a longer video I did . Only thing I don't show was moving the electric fences solar charger and ground rod but that's another 3 min tops .
My lil meat rabbit colony absolutely loves there salad time lol. Though having them in a mobile tractor would give them plenty but nope , ๐
Ok so sorry if this is the wrong sub but need some help . Long story short I work on a tow boat ( the ones you see pushing bargers up and down the rivers ) and it's painting season meaning we're repainting the entire outside of the boat . I prefer to use rollers but cap wants more brush work mainly around. The edges of windows and stuff and I can't for the life of me get this paint to look nice ( and they want it to look nice ) I'm basically stuck with this crappy brushes they order and we only use this type of enamel paint. I got a few nicer brushes I'm hording ( a few Wooster silver tips ) but other then that I'm stuck with what they order anyone got any tips or tricks to help me get les brush marks and a nicer even coat with these things ? And I've tried thinning it a few ways mainly just the 1:20 the serwin Williams sister recommended but egh ...not much better or worse Seriously anything would help because I'm not a painter but ..well.....
Thanks
Ok so lil clarification, I'm stuck on this boat for 20 days at a go, I can't just get off and run to the hardware store and buy what I want . Trust me I would have by now if I could. If I want a special kinda brush or something I have to request that they order it on a supply order .... And since we have a crate of these shitty chop brushes they don't wanna order any new ones . Hence why I said I'm stuck with these , at least for the next 13 days till I get off ..... So till then I have to make do soooo what that being said anything a guy can do ?
