My 6 year old OTTB who was sold to be as sound actually had stage 4 OA in his front pastern and coffin joint. He just recently 2 months after purchase started limping, finding it hard to turn, moving really and obviously compensating. I assume he received injections before I got him.

Anyways, now what? He obviously can't be ridden. Im just paying board on a horse that can't be used outside of grooming and paying to treat his arthritis.

He should be in the prime of his life, he's 6 freaking years old!

Is each bather groomer supposed to check in their dogs only every time or is it ok if someone who is not busy to check in a dog for you if you are working with a dog in the table or giving a bath?

I have had 10 very spread out days in the salon so far bathing/drying/nails/paw pads/ teeth brushing.

Yesterday I was given:

Shar pei with yeast and irritated folds

Large Golden Retriever

Aussiedoodle

3 of the of the dogs were almost an hour late. Only one dog could kennel dry.

4 hours to complete them all as a newbie.

Does this seem reasonable?

You know how dog breeders have pennhip or OFA testing and scoring?

I think we need to have something like that for horses but for their damn hooves.

The syndromes and hoof diseases are so rampant in QH, Paints, OTTB that I think we need to start forcing breeders to reevaluate their breeding practices and criteria for breeding animals. A lot of these conditions are caused by horses having hooves that are too small for their body size or having very low heels. We need longevity and good quality lives for our horses, and that starts at the hooves.

So xrays and lameness exam testing and scoring and reports for all breeding animals?

What say you all?

Have any of you had luck requesting not to be scheduled for 3 and 4 hour shifts? Is it possible to just ask for 6 or 8 hour shifts only?

Im driving 5 or 6 days for very short shifts, and it's not very cost-effective. I could work 2 days and get the same hours with three 8 hour shifts.

Im struggling with workplace social skills

Im not sure what to do. I try to be very helpful, diplomatic, approachable and kind with everyone i work with. Our job is stressful retail work. I hardly ever complain about my coworkers not completing something because this place is difficult and unpredictable. You just never know. I go out of my way to never leave extra work for my coworkers. My boss has mentioned multiple times how good of a job im doing, how clean and organized I am and he appreciates my efforts.

But everyone hates me 😒

It's all of the women who seem to hate me. They make no secret about it either. A few weeks back one of the leads went through my personal backpack, left all of the pockets opened. She didn't care if I knew or anyone else.

Someone threw my name tag in the trash. It was meant for my locker and someone just crumpled it up and tossed it. It had only been sitting in that spot for a hour until I had a chance to put it up.

Im not sure what I need to be doing to improve this situation. Help?

Ok I get a well trained , accomplished animal with excellent breeding going for good money. But WTAH is going on with all these grade horses for $8000? No actual birthdate. No paper trail. No, you can't test ride. "Insurance doesn't cover it".

Yearnings for $4000 with club feet but stands tied and will let you spray her with fly spray.

Or they don't post a price at all and when you ask and you tell them "oops, sorry, out of my price range" they call you a tire kicker and thanks for wasting my time. Like my time wasn't just wasted with your incomplete fucking advertisement?

Then you get sellers posting these long-winded posts about buyers asking questions lol. Uh, yeah it's kinda standard to ask questions about the animal you want to buy. And generally people are asking questions because 1. You didn't post necessary information

2. Something is off, and they are trying to find the rub.

Im looking to get some sports boots for my OTTB. Interested in getting recommendations from you all.

I think 4 weeks is just too damn long before holes start appearing in these plastic thin t-shirts we are required to purchase. Seriously, I have 5 shirts and all of them have holes in them already after a little over a month. I can get better quality shirts at Walmart.

Or does it have to be done in the store?

Whats up with giving 4, 5 and 6 hour shifts and no consecutive days off? Why can't they just work me 8 hour days 3 days a week? I do not understand it. I have to drive more working these short shifts. I never get consecutive days off.

Brought back concavity to a horses sole? Just got an OTTB gelding. He has low soles. Pretty common horses them. I'd like to get a plan in place for his next trim.

I see the prices of saddles of gone way beyond the inflation rate right as I needing to purchase a new one.

Is Circle Y still making good barrel saddles? Is the leather soft and flexible? I hate stiff leather but there is no place close to where I live that sells saddles so I can't just go sit in some.

I have had HH on and off my entire life. There were times I would get out of the car and my entire back of my body would be soaked in sweat.

Now it's just my groin. I don't know if it's peri or what, but the groin is constantly sweating. My underwear get soaked, so it's not uncommon to go through multiple pairs daily. I have two showers daily, at least.

Im so sick of it. I have used antiperspirant, shower to shower powder, shaving the area, not shaving the area, lume.

I need frozen underwear or something. This is ridiculous.

Im getting so fed up with the drama between the store manager and the leads that I might just have to leave.

Makes me disappointed because I do enjoy the work. But I feel like im being punished/hazed by leads to get under the skin of the store manager.
