Is anyone actually doing the Global Endurance Tour Spa 24 this weekend?

Not sure why iRacing have scheduled the GET Spa round and the official Spa 24 to the same weekend.

Surely the GET event will get poor participation, especially in the GT3 class.

So how many people are planning on running the Global Endurance Tour instead of the official Spa 24hr special event?

Finally hit 2000 iRating in sportscar

After being on the service for 2 and a half years, and a big push starting this season, I finally hit 2k iRating in sportscar.

I have already hit 2k in Formula and Dirt Road but sportscar I do most often and take most seriously. My next goal is to get a combined iRating of 10,000 (Average iR of 2k across all licenses)

Why did they reprofile club corner in 2010?

I get why the made the other changes in 2010 with the infield and I don’t want it get into that now.

But why did they change the profile of club corner?

I feel like the older profile was much better for racing. It was wider, would allow cars to run side by side through there and allowed drivers to use different lines through the corner (run wide and carry the speed vs cut it tight and shorten the distance)

I don’t think it would affect the pit lane and buildings as it is far enough away. I can’t see how the older layout is anymore dangerous for cars or bikes as it doesn‘t have that much higher exist speed.

Any ideas for the reason of this change?

Should we remove pit speed limits from vintage/class series?

The series I am referring to are series such as IMSA Vintage, Lotus 49, Lotus 79 and NASCAR 1987 Legends. These series use classic cars from Sportscar racing, F1 and NASCAR. The IMSA Vintage cars are from the late 80s, the F1 cars are from the 60s and 70s and the NASCARs are from 1987. IMSA introduced a pit speed limit in 1998, F1 introduced their pit speed limit in 1994 and NASCAR introduced theirs in 1991.

All these cars are from before their series had pit speed limits, therefore all the iRacing series are set before pit speed limits were introduced. Surely in the pursuit of realism, iRacing should remove the pit speed limit for these series.

Maybe it could be another option under the new Series-Specific Sporting Regulations & Branding feature. One that could be introduced into the previously mentioned series.

Can someone explain why you want hot tyres temps but cooler track temps?

I understand why you want hot, sticky tyres but why are cooler track temps more desirable and higher grip and hot track temps?

What is the point in GTDX and GSX IMSA classes?

Found in the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, I believe they are just GTD/GT3 and GS/GT4 that are tuned to have more power. I have a few questions about this:

  • Do they just have slightly more power or are they lighter / have more downforce?
  • Are they actually that much faster or is there only a few tenths in it?
  • Are the engines actually tuned/modified or is it just a different BOP?

Some people say that in IMSA, the Pro GT class should have faster cars than the Pro/AM class, like what they used to have where GTLM was the pro class an GTD was the Pro/AM class.

Would it be worth changing GTD pro into a GTDX class and leaving GTD as it is?

iRacing are never going to give us a series with these cars, so please can we at least have a special event with these cars.

Was 0.016s off the perfect race

Was so close to the perfect race in SFL earlier. I got:

  • Pole
  • Led every lap
  • Won the race
  • got 0 incident points in practice, quali and the race

I got the second fastest lap in the race. Me and Jordan were trading fastest laps most of the race. He started last and came up to P2. I think if he had qualified higher up, he would have won the race.

Why do headphone cables always have to go across your body?

Most headphones have the cables coming out of the left ear.

Most PCs cases that have a window/glass panel on them, have it on the left side. This means that if you want the glass facing you, you need to have your PC to the right of you.

This means that you need to have your headphone cable either going across your body, or loop the cable under your chair or something similar.

Why can’t headphone manufacturers just put the cable on the right?

Edit: My mistake for putting this on a subreddit full of stuck up snobs who send 10x more money on their headphones than their actual computer and then assuming that everyone else does as well.

My first SFL race

This rear wing damage gave me horrible oversteer for the rest of the race, resulting in me being 6s off the pace for the rest of the race

Is someone at fault or was this just a racing incident?

I am in the LMP2 and I am lapping a GT3. We go side by side through the previous corner and we come together on exit. Now I know we drifted into each other here, but I went to the left as that is the standard line to take and every other GT3 I have lapped there has done the same, therefore I expected him to do the same as well.

I was not going to run him off the road and left him full space on the left. I do not know why I he comes to the right to pin me to the outside when we are not even racing. Its not like he was going to go into the pits afterwards, as he did stay out, even after sustaining damage. Also if he did want to pit, he should have lifted to let me through so he can then get to the inside of the last corner and therefore get into the pits safely, right?

Proof that good racing, doesn't necessarily mean lots of overtakes.

Had a great battle with this guy in IMSA open this morning, only one overtake made yet we both agreed that it was one of the best each of us have had in the LMP2s
