MOON SQUARE NEPTUNE DIDN’T RUIN MY LIFE. IT MAY HAVE SAVED IT.
I want people to understand that astrology is so much deeper than “good” and “bad” placements.
There is no placement in your chart that exists just to harm you.
I have Moon square Neptune, and I realized today that this placement may have genuinely helped save my life.
I grew up homeless on and off for the first 18 years of my life. I grew up around addiction, violence, instability, abuse, and adults who repeatedly put me in situations no child should have had to navigate.
And somehow, throughout all of that, I still graduated high school while homeless. I did homework in bathrooms with roaches. I earned a full ride to college for journalism because of my talent. I developed an insane amount of self-discipline very young because survival required it.
But looking back, I also romanticized my childhood.
I would make excuses for my mother. I would think, “She went through a lot. She doesn’t know any better.” I would find softer explanations for people who were objectively hurting me.
Moon square Neptune gets interpreted as delusion, confusing emotions, idealizing people, not seeing things clearly.
And yes.
But what if sometimes the inability to see the full horror of something is exactly what allows a child to survive it?
I genuinely do not know what would have happened to me if, at 10 or 16 years old, I had possessed the awareness I have at 33 and fully understood the people raising me.
That illusion gave me somewhere mentally to go.
It allowed me to believe there was still goodness somewhere.
It allowed me to imagine another life before I had the physical power to create one.
That was not weakness.
That was survival.
I also have Moon square Uranus, and I believe that energy helped me break away.
Uranus says, “This does not have to continue just because this is what you were born into.”
While much of my family remained inside the same patterns, something in me always knew I could live completely differently.
It was not until this year, after months of therapy, that I started seeing my life without the protective filter.
And yes, that truth hurt.
But I am 33 now.
I have tools.
I have awareness.
I have freedom.
I can decide what family means to me. I can decide what home feels like. I can decide who gets access to me. I can choose what kind of human being I become.
So now Moon square Neptune does not need to protect me through illusion anymore.
The same imagination that helped me survive can be used to create.
The same sensitivity can become intuition.
The same ability to see possibility inside horrible circumstances can now be directed toward my own future instead of being used to excuse people who hurt me.
That is what I mean when I say your chart is energy.
The lower expression of a placement is not the entire placement.
Sometimes the trait you are trying to “fix” was once doing exactly what it needed to do to keep you alive long enough to become conscious of it.
My placements did not destroy me.
They protected me until I was strong enough to protect myself.
