His face says “you may leave.” I decided to preserve that energy in wool

This is Walter, a 10-year-old Maine Coon who has perfected the “you may leave now” look.
His portrait is made mostly from wool, layered in different shades to recreate his markings and that huge Maine Coon mane. His resin eyes were hand-painted to match his yellow-green gaze, and his nose was sculpted from clay.
The fur took time, but the real challenge was capturing that unmistakable expression. I kept adjusting his eyes until wool Walter finally looked like he was politely asking me to leave the room.

Tried to recreate his signature “I heard you, I just have no idea what you said” face in wool

This is Murphy, 11 years old, and this slightly confused look is basically his default setting. For this portrait, I started by building up the basic shape of his head with wool, then slowly layered different shades of gray, brown, and white to match his coat. The little markings around his eyes and muzzle took quite a bit of adjusting. But honestly, the hardest part wasn’t the fur, it was getting that expression right. I kept going back to the reference photos trying to capture that exact “I have absolutely no idea what’s going on, but I’m here” look on his face. A lot of tiny adjustments later, I think wool Murphy looks just as confused as the real Murphy.

His face has been stuck on “loading…” for years, so I recreated it in wool

My attempt at turning this very serious orange gentleman into wool

I started by building the basic shape with wool, then slowly added the fur colors layer by layer. I spent the most time around the eyes and muzzle because those little details really bring out the cat’s expression. The whiskers were added at the very end.

Those eyes had too much character not to turn into needle felted piece

I’d like to share a little bit about the making process of this chihuahua wool felt portrait :) The eyes are hand-painted with resin details to give them depth and a more lifelike expression. The nose is sculpted from clay and carefully shaped by hand before being fixed in place. The fur is built entirely with high-quality wool, layered slowly to recreate the texture, color transitions. Every small detail is done step by step by hand, with the goal of capturing not just the appearance, but also the calm and gentle personality of this chihuahua

That fluffy face was impossible to forget

His name is Duke, and he’s a 10 years old male Chow Chow. Even though he’s getting older, he still has that calm, dignified personality the breed is known for. Around his family, though, he’s incredibly gentle and loves quietly being close to the people he loves.
Creating this portrait took many hours of needle felting. I carefully layered and shaped the wool to recreate his thick mane, round face, and warm expression. The eyes are made from resin, the nose is sculpted from clay, and the rest of the portrait is carefully built with wool by hand.
My goal wasn’t just to recreate his appearance, but also the feeling his family gets every time they look at him. I’m really happy with how he turned out.

Every wool portrait starts with a special face to remember

I’m really happy to share one of my latest handmade wool portraits with you.
This is Oliver, an 8 years old male Miniature Schnauzer. He’s the perfect mix of playful and calm, always ready to run around and make everyone laugh, but just as happy to quietly sit by his family’s side.
While making this portrait, I focused on his signature eyebrows, beard, and warm eyes, hoping to capture the personality that makes him so special. Every strand of wool was placed by hand, and it was a joy to bring Oliver to life in this piece.
