Dark Angels officer - 2007
Easy kitbash > unique model.
Kitbash when you can!

Don't look at me like that, skeleton. At this point I don't think I'll ever paint them.
In current lore, are there still Landspeeders outside the Second Company?
I have waited 22 years but I remain a little confused. What do I do with these misfits created for fun? Veteran sergeants?
I found an old list (4th edition) of warhamner 40k game. Dark Angels (mine) vs Khorne berserkers (opponent). "Presidio" (Secure Area?) I think was the scenario (City of Death expansion?). I thought it was nice to share it, even if it is in Italian. For a few days now, however, I have been trying to understand why I hand-marked those scores at the end, does anyone remember if there were any additional points that can explain the total? Units marked with an x were annihilated, those with a diagonal slash were halved. By hand it is written which units they have eliminated.
A brief step outside the warp, just to say hello from the tides of time.
I really ought to resist the urge to retake all the photos in this style, but I’m getting carried away.
Will you wait for the primaris version or do you think the current model still has something to say?
I don't see many new creations around, what happened? Has it become of little use in the game?
When it came out we were enthusiastic about the model, then it seems to me that it has disappeared from the radar.
This is possibly the first rendition of the miniature of Sammael to go on the web (in 2007 on coolminiornot) with a colour scheme different than the 'Eavy Metal proposal on the box art.
The retro-style photography of my old army continues.
I would almost like to print them on paper for real, I'm having fun, I hope you like them too.
Photographed with the lightpainting technique: total dark set, "bulb" pose, 48" exposure, f/22, smoke blown in the background, one RGB flashlight used selectively like a brush on the miniature, first in white and then in red from different angles.
This technique allows you to selectively illuminate the various surfaces and create pictorial lighting as if you were using many small spotlights positioned from an infinite number of directions.
Ours is a glorious story, the first Legion, always rich in lore and widely played even against the adversities of some editions of Codex.
Carry the banners high for many years to come.
It’s not yet time to retire the Firstborn, especially if you’ve accumulated and painted so many of them over the years.
Building a photographic archive for this collection of Dark Angels – who served with honour between the 3rd and 5th editions, despite somewhat lacklustre Codexes – has become a hobby within a hobby for me. My latest experiment is to find a photographic style that highlights their current status as ‘old-timers’.
With a bit of manual Photoshop work, I hope to have recreated the flavour of a bygone but fascinating era, suited to these classic models, aiming for the charm of a vintage printed photograph. I believe every army has a unique soul, and finding a photographic style that suits your collection can be a fun way to experience its atmosphere in a whole new dimension and tell its story.
I encourage everyone to experiment with a dedicated visual identity to properly show their miniatures. No AI (where’s the fun in that?), just heart and ideas:
Who wants to share something already done with this spirit or wants to try their hand at it?
I’m happy to help you figure out technical solutions and setups based on your specific army and available materials. Feel free to ask! A camera definitely unlocks more experimental tricks, but you can achieve good atmospheric results with just a phone and the right lighting.
Time goes on. It doesn't matter. If one likes good old firstborns why don't go blatantly vintage?
This plastic Dreadnought is the second of three in my army of Dark Angels. The first, in 1998, was the beloved metal "brick", then came in 2010 the venerable Dreadnought which I painted with the colors of the Deathwing.
Everyone wants their models to have something unique and personal. In the absence of sculpted details, flat surfaces are ideal for some freehand decoration. Painting chapter insignia and unit markings also allows for more integrated and opaque results.
Today I share with you a little drama. This miniature is my kitbash interpretation of a Company champion, unfortunately it seems that only the old photos of 2006 on coolminiornot remain of it. I absolutely can't remember what happened to him, in the last 4 months I looked everywhere while rephotographing the collection, only he is missing out of almost 150 pieces... It was not a model that I used in the game but it was not the only one, I have a vague memory that it was on the top shelf of the display cabinet before the move but for the utmost irony I also have old photos of the display cabinet but not of the first shelf 😓. In short, will he ever jump out of some box or should I consider him lost forever in the Warp?
One of the finest miniatures from 5th edition. In some cases, the lack of modularity and the metal cast allowed character-level unicity and details for line models. What do you think of of the old structure of armies with more homogeneous units and some prominent elements?
Among the Fallen, those who have not embraced cults of Chaos are not rare. Brothers who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time or who simply had eccentric personalities. Many have found themselves isolated and rejected and have suffered loneliness for centuries, hermit lives in some cases made more burdensome by previous difficulties in socializing properly.
Brother Hannibal is one of these misunderstood individuals, he likes Ultramarines but they keep him away. Yesterday he tried to visit them on their subreddit but there was a bit of indifference to welcome him. Let's show this poor soul some love here, in what was once his home.
When I had good eyes 🤔🤓
Hi, for anyone who has the patience to read and the kindness to give me some information:
Current status and specs
Goals
[1] It would be time to replace a desktop PC that has served me faithfully since 2006. I assembled that PC and the previous one, but the latter has resisted so long that today I am no longer familiar with the components. The current PC still works very well for standard use (web search, video writing, streaming...) I still use it for photoediting with photoshop CS6. Clearly it has been suffering in intensive applications for a while, the main bottlenecks are RAM and CPU (both not upgradeable). I resisted the update mainly because in 20 years it has been super-tuned: in idle the CPU load is at 3% and RAM 30%, no service that is not essential runs, It has light energy consumption and temperature, I have no advertising neither in the OS (nor on the internet, Youtube, Amazon, etc) and above all I know every process and setting. I'm upset by the idea of switching to a machine over which I have less control. But photo-editing is quite tiring and then I fear that from one day to the next the PC could die of old age.
The current machine has:

B. Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia 64bit Desktop: Cinnamon 6.0.4
Except bluetooth, it's all wired (LAN, keyboard, mouse) and I also use PS-2 ports and I would still like to keep a good number of USB ports available (the current ones are 2.0)

[2] I would like to switch to something that does not create a bottleneck in case of photoediting and browsing with multiple tabs (but reasonable, within 8-10) on the browser. Possibly, at least at the beginning, I would keep the PSU and GPU. I would like something that does not heat up much and keeps consumption acceptable. But above all something stable, compatible with W10 and Linux, free of ads and without built-in AI and other mandatory bloat. With a tower (or so) case that have room and upgrade friendly.
Unfortunately I don't have a starting point, I have a vague understanding of the difference between Intel I3, I5, I7 and generations, practically nothing about AMD motherboards and processors.
I'm open both to new or refurbished machine. No gaming needs but something that can last at least 5 years decently and with upgrade prospects. Where should I start inquiring?
I know there are many questions and the request is quite specific, I thank everyone for their patience.
