I believe in left-libertarian populism, a socially progressive society where people have broad personal freedom, markets remain competitive, and economic power is prevented from becoming so concentrated that it threatens freedom itself.
I support private enterprise and markets, but I don't believe markets should be treated as an end in themselves. Competition only works when people can actually compete. That means strong antitrust laws, support for workers and small businesses, progressive taxation, affordable healthcare and housing, responsible immigration, investment in struggling communities, and protection from the economic disruption caused by new technology.
I reject both authoritarian government and corporate authoritarianism. A corporation does not become harmless simply because it is privately owned. If a handful of companies control essential industries, technology, infrastructure, or resources, people can become just as dependent on them as they would be on an authoritarian state.
My biggest concern is the post-capitalist meltdown, capitalism becoming so concentrated that it destroys its own competition and creates a society where a small ownership class controls most wealth and technology while everyone else becomes economically dependent on them.
I don't want state socialism, but I don't want laissez-faire corporate rule either. I want freedom with limits on concentrated power: competitive markets, individual liberty, worker power, entrepreneurship, strong communities, civil liberties, and aggressive opposition to monopolies.
No government should control every aspect of your life, and no corporation should be powerful enough to make your freedom dependent on its permission.
I believe in left-libertarian populism, particularly a society that is socially progressive, fiercely protective of individual liberty, and economically democratic without abandoning the power of private enterprise and competitive markets. People should be free to live as they choose, speak freely, organize freely, and pursue their own lives without unnecessary interference, provided they respect the rights and freedoms of others. I reject both authoritarian government and corporate authoritarianism. Markets should exist to serve people, not the other way around. I support genuine competition, strong antitrust laws, protections for small businesses and workers, lower taxes on low-income households, and higher taxes on extreme concentrations of wealth and corporate power. I support affordable healthcare, housing reform, responsible immigration with secure borders and legal pathways, protections for workers facing technological disruption, and serious investment in rural and post-industrial communities. I believe America should favor diplomacy, trade, and cooperation over unnecessary wars and military intervention. Economic growth means nothing if ordinary people cannot share in it. Freedom means little if economic power becomes so concentrated that people have no meaningful alternatives.
My greatest fear is what I call the post-capitalist meltdown: the possibility that an unchecked capitalist system eventually destroys capitalism's own foundation of competition and evolves into something far more authoritarian. If corporations are allowed to endlessly consolidate wealth, technology, infrastructure, and essential resources, the result may not be a freer market but an anti-free-market monopoly society—a techno-authoritarian system in which a small ownership class controls the systems upon which everyone else depends. Prices rise because competition has disappeared, technological power becomes concentrated, and ordinary people are reduced from independent citizens to permanent economic dependents. This could produce a new two-tier caste system: an ownership class with enormous control over wealth and technology, and a majority with increasingly limited economic independence. I reject that future completely. The answer is neither authoritarian socialism nor laissez-faire corporate rule, but freedom with limits on concentrated power: competitive markets, strong local communities, worker power, entrepreneurship, civil liberties, progressive taxation, and aggressive opposition to monopolies. No government should be powerful enough to control every aspect of our lives, and no corporation should be powerful enough to make freedom dependent on its permission. I hope to have a good debate in the comments, and if not and this is the wrong place to post, could you guys let me know subs with similar views to mine to talk

I've fallen in love with old weird dusty 90s indie, and I cant get enough of it. I'm trying to get into antifolk, and love that too, and I love the whole slacker loose vibe of all those nineties records, but only a few scratch the right itch. for example, I really love on Avery island by NMH, but I tried the airplane record and I want so keen. I really love tweez by slint, but I tried spider land and wasn't so keen. I really love transmissions from the satellite heart by flaming lips, and you can see where this is going. I've always love the doors, particularly the more experimental stuff like the end, and I recently found guided by voices, which scratches it a tiny bit, but not too much. I've found 1,000s of bands and they're all ok, but only a few scratch the same weird itch.
recently moved and am looking for some counterculture stuff as an 18 year old. it's a beautiful city and I love every bit but I cant find a group or place to hang out with
whenever I hang out w my friends, it is always just going round to someones house, or maybe going to the park, but I cant remember the last time we went on a good ol journey and whenever I think about it I think im already an uncle and that I sound like a gramps goin kids these days lol :( the only reasons I can think are screens (I know I know, I doom scroll too gng) or thinking it's childishbut actually pls help I need more whimsical trips and I wanna know if you guys have the same problem and how to solve it. this is a repost but I didn't get very many responses on the last one

I knew this was a less known release but selling for nearly 60 quid is actually insane.
please help, it's killing me it is usually used on wholesome shorts but I just need some help. it is quite blown out, ends in III-II, and the bit in my head is lyric-less so it might be instrumental
Im alone here please tell me someone else found it the same way
highest you don't know lowest you don't
I'm looking for somewhere that is just the embodiment of pure flatness and boringness to the point where it loops over back into the interesting, the kind of place where you can see the curvature of the earth, all there is is straight motorways and gas stations for miles and any sane person would lose there mind. no beef to residents of here in case this is rude. I just saw a post of a similar thing to this that I'm interested in and thought I'd ask what it's like.
so ive been in a dry patch for new songs for most of the year so far, and I thought I'd ask here. what I have found is the album 'slanted and enchanted' by pavement, which I love, but the rest of their stuff is a bit to clean and polished. the album 'transmissions from the satellite heart has been one of my favs, but I'm not so keen on the rest of the flaming lips discography, and I love sonic youth, especially bad moon rising and daydream nation, but I'm less of a fan of their big 7 minute songs like the daydream trilogy. butthole surfers scratched that itch for a bit but I got really sick of the weird singing sound effects, and I tried to get into ween, but I just couldn't for some reason. I liked sebadoh, but I'm looking for noisier stuff, and I like 'isn't anything' era my bloody valentine too, but I'm less keen on other shoegaze to me. I've recently got into lo-fi slacker college stuff, but I cant find any songs I love. I like slint, especially tweez, and I got into unwound for a bit, but I'm looking for something lighter than slint, but less jokey than ween or butthole surfers. hope you guys can help! tldr: songs similar to pavement, sonic youth, and flaming lips early stuff
