I'm tired of online shopping, gadgets and screens. So I am back to order by mail

I recently started ordering more things by mail. No more Amazon, reviews, subscriptions. No next day deliveries too. I spend a decent time filling out forms and calculating taxes now, but it also feels much more down to Earth and real.

Does anyone else still use mail order catalogs and similar resources? Sadly very few survived apparently. Where do you find them and what is your experience?

Rebuilding this CMU wall, how to match this "rock face" style?

Long story shory, this massive wall has to go altogether because it is not structurally sound to say the least anymore. It wants to collapse. It would be cheaper/better to get a rid of the house, but at this point it is not possible due to all the complications around this property. Not even the city's landbank wants it for free. So I decided to rebuild it and resolve a ton of issues. I've posted about it on Reddit before, so if you are recognizing it - yeah, that's me, again.

I was thinking about doing it myself, but ruled it out as too complex and outright dangerous project even for an experienced mason. I have figured out I'm not experienced enough with shoring.

So I found a great, licensed, bonded and insured contractor, we agreed that I do some work myself and then it can be as cheap as 58k$. Still a ton of money, but I finally managed to find a 2nd job and I am almost there.

Now the actual question: how do I get the closest match to this historic rock face block? Architectural split face blocks? Plaster?

Thanks

East Cleveland is going through another phase of decline?

I don't know how to describe it, you all probably know that it had "issues" for years, but now it is on another level. When I bought my second home there 5 years ago my street was looking so different: every home occupied, a neighbor had a big boat on on his driveway (a good sign here haha), most homes had their lawns cut. Sure my neighbor was kinda crazy and was asking me for a dollar every other day, but he was still living there. The road had a pothole here and there but I wasnt blowing tires and hitting it with the oil pan.

I was driving around yesterday and holy shit. Everything is overgrown, abandoned and boarded up. The houses that people were flipping a few years ago are all abandonment and the windows are broken. They demolished a ton of multi unit buildings and now it just feels like a rural place there.

I don't know what Sandra is going to do about all of this. The place is not just falling apart, mother nature is actively claiming it back.
