Hi, I'm a law student and I'm looking for a laptop that will work with Ubuntu without any issues as I'm not really a technical guy. I prefer 32gb of RAM and really really need good battery life. I am seriously considering getting a thinkpad because they are supposedly easy to type with, but I'm open to anything good. I prefer not to get niche companies because I need good support.

Hi everyone, I've recently been noticing more and more discrimination in law and in culture against men. In my country it's pretty bad, but I think it's pretty bad in the whole West.

I would love some recommendations for books that discuss issues men are facing, cultural biases in day to day life, abuse and sexual assault and most importantly what can be done to fix this and build a better future.

There's someone who he is in my contact and i am in his and when he contacted me on signal he did it via phone number. But on my end it says he contacted me via username and i cant see his number within signal but he can see mine. Also, his signal phone number settings are the default and is set so that if someone has his phone number in their contacts they can see his number.

Why is this? Why can he see my number in signal but I can't see his?

If I have over 500 chats and I turn on memories, does it really go through all of them and generate memories from every single chat? If so, how long does it take?

Is it better have @ firstnamelastname or @ firstname.lastname?

I finally got a few friends to switch to signal, but then one of them sent a once view photo in the group. Someone else in the group took a screenshot, now everyone it upset about this. Honestly we use the once view feature a lot and this is super upsetting. Why was she allowed to screenshot the photo? Why aren't screenshots blocked when opening view once photos and videos?

I know they there are even ways on WhatsApp to get around the screenshot block, you can just take a photo with another device. But it's really not the same thing as just taking a screenshot and easily getting a high quality copy of the photo. Also, most people aren't gonna use a second phone to take a picture.

I am really shocked that signal doesn't have this feature, is it just really difficult to implement? Does Whatsapp use proprietary code for it? I mean, how difficult can it be?

Is it possible to have an AI voice chat like duck.ai? Are there even good open source models that support this?

I remember seeing an interview a few years ago where Andy Yen said that Proton aims to release a new product every year. Did Proton every say/hint what the next product will be? Maybe the Proton team can give us a teaser?

Anyway, I really like Proton, so keep up the good work!

I've been using Pass since it was released and have unique aliases and passwords for everything and TOTP for every account that supports it. I saw a video on YouTube of someone explaining that it's really bad to store TOTP codes inside a password manager.

Is it really that bad? Is it really necessary for regular users to have a separate app? Pass is really convenient, especially how everything is automatically suggested and requires no extra effort.
