I have UAW right now and they’re great. My supervisor ended up leaving his job recently and his position will be posted soon. But getting it would mean I’m not in a union anymore and that I’m on probation. It is $4-10 more.
Any advice would be appreciated.
My boss’ position will be posted soon since he just left. I have almost five years of experience in my current position.
It pays more $4-10 more than I make now. Unfortunately, this spot is not union protected like my current position is and I would be placed on probation for a year. This makes me more vulnerable to layoffs. Them deciding to part ways with me over performance issues is a risk. My union currently gives me regular 3-10% raises and lump-sum payments once in a while.
The schedule is better (from second shift at my current position to an 8-5 gig). I would be dealing with upper management regularly and pressure from them. Whereas, right now I’m unsupervised on second shift. I would also be on call constantly.
My dad is telling me that I should stay where I’m at with my union and that being the boss isn’t fun.
