The Anbernic RG Slide is a sleeper hit

I was browsing my local marketplace for some doodads and came across this RG Slide for $89 with a 256GB Samsung Evo SD Card. I bought this solely for PS2/GC/WII even though most people say the T820 is hit or miss. What I find out is it is more hit than miss thankfully

Some games I tried

PS2

2x Res

God Hand, Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry,

1.25x Res

Devil May Cry 3 (Slowdowns in some areas, otherwise pretty playable)

1x Res

Black (Some slowdowns in the beginning but eases down. Switch to vulkan for better performance)

GC

Code Veronica and Re1 Remake both run well at 2x Res

Wii

Re4 surprisingly runs at 2x res

Take note that I haven't tested these games fully through so performance might change the further you are in game but I'm not sure.

So far I really like it because it is pocketable and has a unique gimmick to it unlike most slabs. Screen is beautiful thanks to its 120hz refresh rate and it's fairly bright at 500 nits. No PWM issues for me (Unfortunately all Oled handhelds I've tried like the RP5, Odin 2 Mini Pro and heck even the RP4 Pro. Odin 2, Mangmi Air X and this are the safe ones for me). Ergonomics aren't the best especially the inline triggers which suck but it's not a deal-breaker imo.

(Will update this in the future for further game testing)

Odin 2 not pocketable? I disagree!

tbf i have huge pockets since I'm 6'3 but eh, at least i can pocket it and play pc games unlike my humongous steam deck

Gout or Plantar Fascitis?

Hi everyone

24M 6'1 200lbs

was walking yesterday when i noticed my feet hurt slightly, as i got home it got even worse to the point the pain goes 6/10.

After waking up I was suffering and the pain was 10/10. My heels, top of heels and side of pinky toe hurt but my big toe doesn't hurt. I find that standing after rest hurts but after prolonged walk/limp it goes down to 7/8. Took Tylenol and got it down to 4/10

Could it be gout or plantar fascitis?

Mangmi Air X. A surprisingly capable device

I was recently browsing my local Facebook marketplace for some doodads when I came across this Mangmi Air X. It was listed at $51 so I went ahead and said Why not since this will be my first ever android handheld. To my surprise it can handle way more than I expected.

Screen - I really love how bright and colorful the screen is. It's not AMOLED but it really punched above its weight. Comparing it to a Switch Lite's screen I'd say it's equal or even marginally better? Well at least it's significantly better than the screen on the Trimui Smart Pro S. Touch screen is GREAT and just like the ones you use on your phones meaning they're very touch sensitive unlike the ones on the Switch and Steam Deck which are finicky

Performance - This is what shocked me. I went ahead with the expectations that I wouldn't be able to play many PS2 games on it but to my surprise I can play my favorite PS2 titles on it.

God Hand runs at 1.75x resolution with very minimal drops to 28 fps. Silent Hill 2 runs pretty well at 1.5x (FMV's or cutscenes are slow though, still trying to find a fix for that), Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 runs almost solid at 1x res, Resident Evil 4 runs fine but I bet it would run better on Gamecube.

For Gamecube I've only tested one game but Resident Evil Remake runs great at 1.5x.

Speakers - It's regular stereo speakers. Nothing much to say but it's good

Build Quality - Solid. Very nice smooth matte material.

Software - Now at first I always thought that Android wasn't going to be a good OS for handhelds but after trying it on the Mangmi I'd say it's such a quality of life improvement over Linux. Since I use android on my phone navigating the OS is easy and I can do so much more than on Linux like accessing my drive for games, saves etc.

Best phone for PWM sensitive people

At least for me. I've tried Xiaomi 13, iPhone, Samsung, Google and they have all given me headaches and eye strain but this Nothing Phone 3A is a game changer. It felt like my eyes can finally relax while viewing my phone. Same with CMF Phone 1

If you're missing Beatstar and wanna play it again...

Try out Beatclone. Super easy to set up. I'm so happy I can play my favorite mobile game 😊

PSP Owners with IPS

Question, is the brightness better than the stock LCD? Asking cause I wanna upgrade because the brightness is just not enough. Thanks

Kurohyou is an extremely underrated gem

Seriously, if you have a PSP or through emulation you should play this game. Combat is top notch and difficult and so far I'm liking the protagonists character development

PSP Street. Mini review, severely overhated

I've owned the PSP Street a couple of days now and I'm really liking how solid this thing feels. It's the "cheap" version of the PSP but surprisingly it has a few things that it did better than the other models and also a few that it did worse.

Positives

Screen - It has the second best and I'd argue even the best screen among the regular sized PSP's (Not including the Go). It completely removes the blurring effect of the 1000 and the 2000 while also removing the scanlines of the 3000.

Build quality - This thing feels well built and I quite like the matte finish. I like how it isn't as slim as the, well the slim which makes it more comfortable to hold for bigger hands.

Performance - They're the same among 2000 and above but it has 64MB of RAM compared to the 1000 so that means more homebrew options.

Now for the downsides

No WiFi/WLAN - Personally this doesn't bother me since most routers don't support the PSP anymore and in the case that you do make it work, downloading through wifi is painfully slow ranging from 0.125 to 0.250 MB/s

Mono Speakers - Personally this didn't bother me since all PSP's I've tried (Except for Go) have crappy speakers and I just plug in my earphones instead

No TV out- Unlike the 3000. Personally this doesn't bother me but it might be a non negotiable to others

Screen - It's good yes but the viewing angle, specifically downards is horrendous as it washes out the screen.

Personally I think it's underrated but I can understand why people would opt for other models. But I think it's still superior to 1000/2000, well as long as you don't play on playing multiplayer. 3000 is still the best, granted you're fine with scan lines
