Bharat, Airavat, Mahavideh Kshetras

There are 5 Bharat Kshetras, 5 Airavat Kshetras, and 5 Mahavideh Kshetras. Kshetra doesn't mean earth, but refers to regions. So 15 karma bhoomis in total, which mean that humans have to work. It doesn't mean Jain dharma is everywhere in the region, but it is practiced.

The 5 Bharat and Airavat regions are identical in nature, besides that of from my guess different nav grahas, minor stuff, and the fact that hundavsarpini may not be present on all.

Since our Bharat Region has earth, where the 24 tirthankars lived and spread Jainism. I would assume there are 10 earths in total.

Now for MVK there are also. I assume that there are also 5 earths in each of their kshetras/regions. Each earth being divided into 32 Vijays, which is needed due to the sheer population and size of humans there, with the earth being of huge size also. Also, but not sure of this, just as Bharat and Airavat regions have their cosmos and khands, MVK should also have such.

Is it fair to say that within the 15 karma bhoomis there is the existence of earth to serve as the central hub for tirthankars, sadhus, sadhvis, etc. But within even those kshetras there are some other plants and lands where Jain dharma isn’t practiced?

Side note:

I’m sure they all have places such as Mount Vaitadhya where their respective vidyadhars live. Speaking of Bharat and Airavat Normal humans are the only type to exist as of rn, I think the other type of human no longer exist or maybe they do but they just don’t leave their land. If they do is Jainism present in such land rn and are there Maharaj Sahebs there?

Why do we Jains celebrate Raksha Bhandan/Rakhi?

I’m familiar with various stories, but why specifically Shwetambaras. And what is the difference between Rakhi in Swetambara vs Digambar belief? Also I want to preserve the Jain meaning of Raksha Bhandan and make a point that Raksha Bhandan in Jainism centers around Dharm Raksha.

Why do Atheist keep saying that religion says that you shouldn't ask questions?

I'm coming from a different angle, as someone from a Dharmic faith (Jainism); questioning is a cornerstone of our faiths. Monks' question: parents tell their children to ask questions of gurus, themselves, monks, etc. Specifically within my faith, we have a concept called anekantvada/many-sidedness. Also, science has been and continues to be emphasized to a great extent within Jainism, from biology to mathematics.

Is it fair for atheists to apply a harsh logic to all religions, especially when some religions, such as Dharmic faiths, preach differently than what the Abrahamic religions preach? Interestingly, many Abrahamic religions also encourage the laity and clergy to ask questions.

There is also this debate where the actually cool and respectful atheists have said that these new age western atheists have degraded their communities and have been intolerant of other foreign cultures. Michael Ruse and old atheists called new atheism a disaster because they ignore complexity and have seemingly shifted toward anarchy, especially led by Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris.

EDIT: For the Abrahamic people, when did not questioning become such a big thing in your religion, because historically, there was questioning in a constructive way. For example, going back to Ancient India, there was debate amongst religious leaders of Abrahamic and Dharmic faiths, and within their individual religions. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in general that after the whole science thing, Fundamentalism became a huge ordeal.

Why do Atheist keep saying that religion says that you shouldn't ask questions?

I guess not asking questions is in the philosophy of Euro/Judeo-Centric Abrahamic religion (Judaism is iffy). Still, as somebody who is not of that tradition, I was always confused as to why atheists use an Abrahamic worldview to interpret all religions, when, for example, people of Dharmic religions say that Dharma isn't religion but just a way of life. For example, I'm Jain, and we're encouraged to ask questions and go to our gurus, parents, and teachers if we are uncertain about something. Nobody forces us to believe anything; that is between you and god. Along with that, there is the principle of anekantvada/many-sidedness.

No hate to anybody in the community, after all, we're all fighting against adharma.

Fyi: I'm against those who force religion down your throat and those who evangelize.

You should be fine and respectful to other religions/practioners as long as they're not encroaching or forceful in their ways. Aren't we all human after all!!

My position is that we, as religious people, should be fine with other religions and respectful of their beliefs as long as they are not encroaching, forceful, or stealing from our respective faiths. It's totally fine to be conservative, and I am conservative. But the discourse some people are engaging in toward other groups has become so disrespectful that it is negatively affecting your values. It's morally valid to think those of other religions are wrong, and I don't condemn that, but it is incorrect to say they are pagans, demonic, etc. Bc they also feel they are right, and at the end of the day, we're all praying for our salvation because none of us wants to end up in hell. I believe in reincarnation, so I feel that not all life will have the chance to experience religion or the correct religion in their life, but that doesn't mean such in the future. I may not be a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, etc., but that doesn't mean I should hate the person or the religion bc the very core of all religions, including my own, centers around love and salvation. I'm super conservative, but I have always been dismayed by such behavior. Importantly, we should also be steadfast in preserving our religion so offshoots and bad-faith leaders don't appear; we have a duty to keep the original truth alive. The fight of the century is not against each other but against adharma and those who deny others the right to worship, whether they belong to a religion or not.

In Depth Deep Dive of the 4 Living Murtipujak Svetambara Gacchas

I know of Tapa Gaccha 1 Titthi Practices, but I am looking for a deep dive into Tapa Gaccha 2 Titthi, Kharatara Gaccha, Achal Gaccha, and Parshwachandra/Paichand Gaccha.

So, the differences and similarities between 5 groups: Tapa Gaccha 1 Titthi, Tapa Gaccha 2 Titthi, Kharatara Gaccha, Achal Gaccha, and Parshwachandra/Paichand Gaccha.

I know the origin stories, but would like to know stuff from a Titthi perspective and other differences, for example, with regard to some stutis, Samayak/Pratikaman, practices of Maharaj Sahebs, Monsoon Yatra, 44/48 Stutis in the Bhaktamar, Tapa Gaccha Sakhas and Samudays (less relevent, bc not much differences aside from the 2 Titthi group under Ramchandra Suri etc.

It seems like the Achal/Anchal Gaccha is 1 day ahead or late in terms of kalyanaks and titthis. Which seems to be the major difference, along with the slight deviation of Tapa Gaccha 2 Titthi but even that stays relatively in line with Tapa Gaccha 1 Titthi and Kharatara Gaccha. I can find little on Parshwachandra/Paichand Gaccha. Also what is Three-Thoi, Four-Thoi, Five-Thoi, etc.

Thank You and Jai Jinendra

What are your thoughts on the recent rise of hate directed toward Jains and the general disunity some are trying to create between Indians but Dharmics especially??

Hello all I’m a Jain and I was wondering about the recent rise of online hate towards the Jain community. Most Jains and Hindus see each others as brothers. Those who serve the nation and uphold the Dharmic roots of the nation. As of recent it seems as if some Hindus are against Jains: throwing insults, accusing us of taking tirths, and being Hindus or being against Hinduism.

Not sure where the hate is coming from, seems like it is from these very secular types who are trying to create division between all Indians.

I would say online discourse is kinda weird bc x groups hates on Hindus, then y hates on Jains. Then it goes back and forth. There are excessive crazies on both sides, though.

Jains support Akhand Bharat, Hindutava mvmt, so the new hate feels so manufactured.

Jai Shree Ram!! Jai Jinendra!!

Want to get into Functional Training, Need Wooden Gada Weight Recs for Someone on the Lankier side

I’m in my 20s, 5’10 and 125 lbs. Not the strongest below my age group for sure, but I can bench comfortably 100 lbs, squat and deadlift 135 lbs. In terms of dumbbells i can curl 15, but prefer 13. So pretty lanky, but I find the strictness of western weights boring. I was thinking of getting a wooden gada, not sure if I should go with 4 or 6 kg. I was thinking abt 8, but I’m pretty sure I would crack my head and break my back.

How To Combat Against Maharaj Sahebs (Sadhus/Sadhvis) Who Go Against Jain Dharm

Always in Jainism, some monks went astray, whether in the 4th or 5th era. When Bhagwan isn't here some Maharaj Sahebs go astray. How should Shravak and Shravika look out for our own well being along with that of Jainism?

Some Digambar and Shwetambar monks have gone astray; I think we can all agree to that.

I know these two girl who want to take Diksha and the Sadhvis are not leaving them alone. The conventional thought is that if you are sincere then you can for a time live without me and then see if you are truly ready or even go talk to other Maharaj Sahebs if you would rather join that Gaccha or Guru. So some are trying to grow their lineages very fast, when in reality you should make sure. The trend of taking Diksha really fast is bad.

Along with that how can Jains pick their Gurus wisely? Some Gurus are very pushy or seperated from Jain Dharma. Saw this video of these Murtipujak Mahra Sahebs playing along with a Shiv Bhakti, which was strange. Some Gurus get into fights, both Sadhus and Sadhvis.

Most Maharaj Sahebs are true Jains, but some are blatantly going against Jain Dharma. Some give their followers short cuts, other do mithyatva, some are to pushy.

I think a big problem also is that Gacchapadis should think abt combing a lot of these Gacchas, because there are far to many compared to the amount of Jains. Along with the nonsense of 2-Titthis, doing Yatra during monsoon or not, etc.

If I have hurt anybody, Michhami Dukkadam and Jai Jinendra. May Jain Dharma and the Chaturvedhi Sangh forever live on!

Historically Indians Were Also Subject to the N-Word with the Hard R

Not justifying the use of the word by any race, but it seems hypocritical that a word is exclusionary to one race. Historically, the Brits used to call Indians the n-word, too. At first, we were thought of as a nation with immense wealth, but soon after, we were seen as colleagues of those of African origin, in terms of being beneath white people. As a result, Brits used to call Indians the n word just like they did with ppl of African origin.

Is it hypocritical for people not to recognize the history of the word and those who were subject to the insults? If we grant one group a pass to use it, shouldn't all those affected by the word be given the same right?

I'm an Indian American. Many SA/Desi/Indian/Pak/Bangla/SL boys use it, so I am asking??

I saw something on Insta abt telling Brown Men not to say it, then this topic came to mind.

Is there any reason as to why Tissot didn't include a lumed pip on the Seastar 36mm??

Uber close to being a perfect watch. Perfect in size, WR, and movement, but seems confusing as to why Tissot wouldn't lume the pip of all things. Also, the bezel sucks to read, maybe they were going for a fashion diver??

[Sizing Question] CTS FKM Rubber Strap Fit Question

I don’t want to mess up cutting my delugs butterfly clasp fkm strap. So far I have cut the rubber equally on both ends, so the fit is almost perfect however when I tilt my wrist to the 12 the watch falls that way a little ever so slightly. I want it to stay in place in the middle near the 6, so do I cut by 6 or the 12?

Illinois Needs a Baker Act Type of Law for Adults

In the state of Illinois essentially adults with mental health issues are hard to control, there is no easy way to get them admitted or make them take their meds. The system is basically saying let them break and until they get arrested we will let them rot.

PSA: Eid Al Adha / Bukhri Eid Taap and Fasting Depends on Location

It is important for us Jains to know that Muslims around the world practice Eid on different days, as such the day we do Taap matters as much.

A. Kinda late, but you can do Taap from May 25th to 31st
B. If u want to do one day: Or you can do it based on location, so for example many Jains think bc Eid is on the 28th in Gujarat you do Taap that day all over the world. False! If I’m in America, I need to do it on the 27th as the Muslims declared Eid that day based on the Moon.

Do ayambils and avoid white food and liquid, or if not avoid white food and liquid.

Was going to start my internship in June, just got note that my internship has been terminated.

I am a rising senior heading into a Corpdev/Stratfin Internship, where I was loaned out to a team at a T-25 F500. Signed a while back, passed my Background check, drug tests, and signed a short-term lease for the summer. Just woke up to find out the internship had been rescinded. What should I do, also feeling a bit nervous since I will be a senior and at this point will likely not be able to find another internship? What I can tell you is that my team has gotten leaner due to some layoffs.
