We see my parents every 4-6 weeks and every time they buy our kids (age 3 and 6) gifts, typically a sub-£5 plastic toy, colouring book, bubble wand etc.

We've mentioned repeatedly that we have too much stuff and are constantly trying to de-clutter, and suggested that they keep more things at their house for the kids, but it hasn't made a difference.

My wife has now sent a polite, but more direct, message essentially saying "please don't buy the kids gifts every time you see them, seeing you is enough. We already have too much stuff" and my mother seems to have taken this as a personal attack, calling her ungrateful and saying it's normal for grandparents to buy gifts and the kids enjoy them.

My instinct was to avoid the confrontation and just chuck/charity shop anything we don't want, but my wife wants to have better communication with things like this.

Curious what other people's thoughts are. Were we wrong/ungrateful to raise this?

Most UK car insurers ask you to declare ANY accidents, claims, or losses from the past 5 years, saying you must declare ALL incidents even if they were non-fault or un-claimed.

Does that mean any small scratch, ding, kerbing a wheel etc that most people would either leave, or pay to get fixed privately should be declared?

If you dinged a neighbours car door and privately paid £100 for a driveway paintless dent repair, are both parties supposed to declare it and pay inflated premiums for the next 5 YEARS?!

Curious what most people are doing...

It's lovely that England won their football game, but there's a time and a place, surely?

Edit: just to clarify, I have no problem with people enjoying the game and the outcome. Chanting, singing, playing a bit of music perhaps... my young children will probably sleep through that, and it's not going to panic my dog. Letting off a series of literal explosions at 1am though is a dick move whatever the circumstances. I'm exhausted and my kids are already having tantrums because of the disturbed sleep. It's going to be a long day...

I'm hoping to insure a relative on my car for when they visit me in the UK. They are a British citizen with a UK license, but have been living in Switzerland for the last 8 years.

I'm insured with Direct line but they seemingly won't let me insure someone who lives at a non-UK address. I'm having the same issue with 3 or 4 temp insurance companies I've found on Google.

Does anyone have any advice?

I'm assuming I can't just put my address for them? (as that's where they are staying while they visit).

Any specialist brokers to try?

My 2021 Model 3 Dual motor is on 102k miles and I'm wondering if this is something I should get done to help the longevity of the car.

Opinions seem mixed online on this.

I notice Cleevely EV suggest changing it in Tesla's at 90k miles (40k in other EVs!) but you have to take it in to their Gloucestershire workshop and they dont give a price on their website.

I guess it's a fairly specialist job?
