What are the inflation adjusted raises at Kimley-Horn for someone with 5 YOE.
Are they generous?
Are they generous?
I net $5800 a month from which I invest $2200 and additional $1K in 401K at work.
Yes, I can afford to pay auto loans (comes out to be $900 a month with insurance). But Is it a super wise decision? Im anxious.
Currently driving a beater, which seems to be coming to an end after 5 years of generous run.
I want a new electrical whip. And everyone is telling me to get it as I deserve it.
Soon to be 27M! Have made a lot of mistakes and everyday feels like life is over, I had done bad job. But currently, feeling a bit optimistic and feel it will eventually get better. And pretty sure many in 30s are having better life. What advice?
Help your bud out here!
I’m having a hard time navigating through life. I know, it’s pretty typical to feel this in your 20s but for me is insanely extreme. I can’t make small decisions without overthinking. I get attach to every person I come across without even trying. And when they leave, I overthink and feel bad. Need some help.
Growing up with no father and mother never working (relying on grandparents’ support) has made me an extremely careful spender. I think 20 times before making a big purchase. Started my first job with $78K back in 2022, and at $122K in 2026, with potential $10K bonus. But my mentality has been same since I started working. Big cheapskate. Unfortunately, I can’t make myself to spend money even though if I want to. Example, I really liked the jeans which were $80, I added into the cart 8 times before dropping the idea. I want to take a birthday trip but prices are making me anxious. Maybe I am always worried about future plans, that I need to save up for then. Fact that all my surroundings will be receiving atleast $1M in inheritance makes me feel like I need to be careful to be in a better place in future.
Really need help to shift my mindset into enjoying life a little. As I don’t want to miss out. Share some tips!
In late 20s. Total investments, retirements + cash = $266K.
Hopefully, I keep maxing it out each year.
Want to see if money can be saved here.

Should I take it?
I’m 26M, about to be 27 and don’t know what to do with my life. It’s been almost year since I have been heartbroken from a breakup that shook my life. It still hurts. I work in a construction industry and I hate my job and want to leave but don’t know where to go. I have only two reliable friends who are both in business so they barely get any time. Just wasting my life without direction. Trying to heal. Don’t have father so can’t get someone’s advice like that. Quit gym after breakup and lost my muscles. Using porn to cope up. So anxious and overthinking that my head literally hurts. What steps should I be taking to make everything alright. I need desperate help.
Please share your wisdom, experience and anything that can get me direction. I have no one.
What if your twins were like that? How would you react as a mother or father?
I think for me, it’s Missy.
Realistically, I feel when I retire, I’ll be in a great position. 26M, I currently do 401K, Roth IRA and Individual ETFs weekly DCA. My retirement is looking super strong. Now, I am realizing I haven’t traveled at all and would wanna do that.
Will I rescheduled? I’m concerned.
At this exact point in my life, all my savings, investments, 401K match is equally to my home date (taking account for taxes). Should I sell everything and pay off my house?
Had a closeout meeting for the bid (on teams) and made mistakes (which I take responsibility for). But got cooked way too hard. It has taken a toll on me. I don’t know how to take it and move on from it. It was perhaps the warning as well. I’m demotivated now.
How would you recover?
Software Engineers became rich with tech boom. Electrical and Electronics are becoming with current chip boom. Mech Es are becoming with SpaceX IPO. Chemicals were becoming with Pharmaceutical boom. When will civil engineers get an opportunity to get rich like that?
Went to Civil Engineering as I loved buildings. Thought would love the career. Just crossed 4 years last week and have realized I really don’t wanna do this. Started with a Big GC, then moved to another big GC and now into small GC. 3 moves in 4 years. I have done mostly precon (3 years) and field engineering (1 year). I’m tired of estimating. What other opportunities should I look into that can work well with my skills.
Note - I didn’t even take FE.
In Chicago, I own a house, so if I were to move, i’ll have to double pay. In Atlanta, it’s at one of the FAANG companies (Data Center Engineer).
Which one sounds better?
Edit - $185K is base, stocks and bonus. $125K is purely base with no equity or bonus provided.
