The "Nuremberg trails" for Trump admin will be a disappointment

Everyone is expecting these massive prosecutions and jail time for many corrupt officials, but Trump is just gonna mass pardon them and tell agencies to destroy a bunch of evidence...

People will then blame Dems for doing nothing, and then vote in another Republican lol.

Is oldnewexplorer safe?

I just got into modding Windows since I can't stand the look and functionality anymore.

I have the famous niivu themes and mods, but for the last bit of tweaking with the task bar and some other stuff I need oldnewexplorer.

The issue is that the tool is not open source like windhawk or niivu themes, is developed by an anonymous user from Mauritius, and got flagged by windows defender + some virus total scanners.

So... is this stuff really safe lol? Anyone using it here for long periods? Seems super sketchy.

Games look blurry/muddy

Been a subscriber for a few months now, and I think I just have to admit to myself that GFN is primarily meant for games like Baldur's Gate 3 or for stuff where there's not a lot of camera movement.

I'm currently playing Jedi Fallen Order, and the blur is noticeable, especially on planets with lots of vegetation. I notice it a lot more than my friends, since I'm very picky and really want my stuff to be sharp/look good.

You could ofc bump the stream from 1440p to 4K (which I did), and then the image looks really good (sometimes a bit too sharp), but you very often run into issues like micro stuttering.

I think I just have to swallow the ego and either get a new PC or just play RPGs with not a lot of movement.

How have you y'alls experience been? I'm mainly asking people who play first person or third person RPGs.

Recommend a series or even an anime for a very picky viewer.

I often find myself dropping shows after S1 or sometimes after a few episodes, because they just don't pull me in enough. For example, I watched Succession last month, and while people are saying it's best series ever, it wasn't it for me (didn't dig the writing/humor) so I dropped it after S1.

I don't mind slow burn or when nothing major happens throughout the entire season, as long as the dialogue is solid and engaging.

My top 10 series/anime that I found near perfect in the past (no particular order):

  1. Game of Thrones (first 5 seasons)
  2. Mr Robot
  3. Better Call Saul & Breaking Bad
  4. Attack on Titan
  5. Severance
  6. True Detective (first season)
  7. Chernobyl
  8. The Walking Dead (S1-S5)
  9. Arcane
  10. Shogun

What do I watch now?

Prey - Ultimate Fix for blurriness/muddiness

This is probably one of the worst games that I've come across when it comes to blur and undetailed textures due to AA methods. To explain how bad it is: the game not only doesn't allow you to disable motion blur, it requires two config files with "read only mode" enabled for it to actually permanently turn off. If read only isn't enabled, Prey has a chance of turning it back on when the game is booted.

I played it for 1 hour today and it got to a point where it became completely unplayable.

Here's a fix for anyone that is interested or searches for it in the future:

1.) FIRST CONFIG

  • Go to C:\Users\USER\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey
  • Right click on game.cfg and open it with Notepad
  • Paste these values:

>osm_enabled = 0
r_AntialiasingMode = 0
r_MotionBlur = 0
r_ChromaticAberration = 0
r_HDRGrainAmount = 0
r_DepthofField = 0

  • Save it then right click on the file > properties > check "read only" > apply > ok

2.) SECOND CONFIG

  • Go to the core Prey files, usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prey
  • In here create a text folder called autoexec.cfg (make sure it's truly .cfg and not just cfg.txt)
  • If you're unsure, go to view > check file name extensions > rename the file again
  • Then right click, open with Notepad and paste this value:

>r_MotionBlur = 0

  • Save it and right click the file again > properties > check "read only" > apply > ok

3.) NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL (Optional, but recommended. This forces the driver to not take shortcuts for game quality and prevents NVIDIA to force its own AA or other weird methods onto Prey. We want you and Prey through in game settings to decide what kind of aliasing techniques to use and how much)

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > Add > Find and add Prey.exe
  • Switch these:

>Image Scaling > Off
Anisotropic filtering > 16x
Antialiasing FXAA > Off
Antialiasing Gamma correction > On
Antialiasing Mode > Application-controlled
Antialiasing Transparency > Off / Application-controlled
MFAA > Off
Max Frame Rate > Off
Power management mode > Prefer maximum performance
Preferred refresh rate > Highest available
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization > Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias > Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality > High quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization > Off
Threaded optimization > Auto
Vertical sync > Use the 3D application setting for now

  • Click apply, ok and close the window

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:

  • If the edge jaginess/possible shimmering of textures appears and is too much for you, go back to the first config file and set r_AntialiasingMode from 0 to 1. If that's not enough, set it to 2.
  • If anything messes up after applying NVIDIA settings, just follow the first step again and instead of "adding" the application in control panel, simply click the restore button, press apply and that's it

Enjoy a much less blurry, sharper, and better looking game! Hope this helps someone.

AI is seriously impressive nowadays...

I was playing BG3 today, and I ran into a bunch of long books and notes that I had no energy of reading. I thought to myself that it would be really cool to have a tool that just takes the text on screen and reads it to me in an immersive BG3 stylized way...

I asked ChatGPT if he can build me this tool and show me the steps on how I can get it to work. The madman actually did it. I've never programmed a day in my life, but bro told me how to easily get Python to function, made a batch executable that installed OCR (a screen text reading model) + all other needed packages, made me an executable that directly connects to ElevenLabs API + combined all of that with everything else!

Now I just open up any game, press F8, select the text that needs to be read, it OCRs it and converts it to actual text, sends it to ElevenLabs and in a few seconds I get back a recording that auto plays. All in one shot and zero errors. Took me like 10-15 minutes.

I fail to see how this doesn't take the majority of entry level desk jobs in the next 5 years lol.

Tools that read long gaming notes/books for you?

My brother has dyslexia. He really enjoys games like Baldurs Gate 3 or Cyberpunk, but whenever he finds long lore books or notes that expand on the world, he struggles or straight up cannot read them.

I was wondering if there exists a tool that allows you to press a button on the keyboard to capture the screen/a specific section of the screen (where there is text) and the tool feeds it to a natural AI text to speech model that reads out the entire text?

Cheers!

So where are people settling on the endings?

Is this another cliche of "this is all happening inside Mellows head due to repeated physical abuse, car accident + emotional/psychological trauma from his trash family" or is his world really just that weird, and everything that we see is the actual reality?

How do people here interpret the endings?

When will GFN allow modding?

There are so many games that I want to play with a ton of cool graphical and gameplay mods. Stuff like Cyberpunk, Witcher, New Vegas, WoW etc... but I can't due to how this GFN system works.

Has there ever been any discussion to integrate some sort of mod support from their end? Like support for Curseforge or Nexus Mods browser that is neatly integrated into GFN?

It feels like this is a big pile of money that is just sitting on the table for them, and many people would subscribe for this alone, but Nvidia just doesn't care?

What do you do at 60

I currently have a character that is about to reach 60. Knowing that the server will likely close by the end of the year, what do you do then? I've never hit a max level in WoW before which is the reason why I'm making this post.

Voiceover Addon is pretty damn cool

A guy I randomly met during questing told me to install this addon through the launcher. I did and wow, every quest now has an AI voice over that even kind of matches the look/lore/tone of the character that I'm talking to.

It completely transforms the game and makes the story much more palatable. If you want to get into WoW lore, but refuse to read, install this and make your life much easier and immersive.

BGs suck man...

Another whine post, sry.

If your class or spec doesn't one shot (stormcaller, cultist, runemaster) or can tank/has lots of sustain (necromancer, cleric, primalist) doing BGs is just sort of terrible. You either get bonked by the first group in an instant or outsustained to infinity by the second one.

It feels like world PVP and later on arenas is where PVP will be at.

Don't get Loot Collector Addon

I consider to have a pretty good PC, especially for WoW standards, but that addon crashes your FPS by at least 50%. Dungeons become 40-50 FPS. Idk what's up with this thing or if I installed it incorrectly, but yeah...

It's sad, because it's a really useful Addon.
