Anyone else gaydar break every so often?
I was looking at bands on youtube and got excited thinking this person was a butch lesbian or maybe trans man fronting the band Nothing But Thieves! Some of their songs are still really good though! haha

Are there any tutorial sites or communities for vocaloid artists? Especially Japanese one's? I've been trying to learn to use it to write shoegaze but mostly see it used for dance. I know there's loads of shoegaze artists in Japan but just wondered how they learned or shared ideas? Anyone know?
I find it kind of sad that there either has to be a special girls mosh pit or like women join the pit then a bunch of guys basically push people out. Also casual groping that seems to go on? Or other touchy guys.
One experience I had was:
I was at a small club and me my friend and this girl and another guy were moshing; like just having fun doing 2 step. The guy seemed to be slightly on the spectrum but then grabbed us all and basically swung me and this girl around and totally killed the vibe. When I told my friend who's much taller and nb they basically said oh well he's like that! But I felt bad for the other girl who looked like she came solo and how this guy basically manhandled everyone.
I've also seen pits where a few girls will jump in then guys basically take over the floor even when its a girl band playing! Also a gig where they said for all the girls to come to the front and mosh but it felt a bit performative? Like women need special permission to just have fun?
I wonder how to encourage more women to mosh and guys to actually respect the people around them instead of just banning guys from the pit and making a safe space because I'm sure there's better ways? What do people think?
Why do you think guys assume if someone looks really pretty they must be just faking being good at something? Or just a woman in general. I've seen this with djs, racing drivers etc ete
Hi i built a parts jazzmaster recently with strat neck but every time I try tune the high E one octave up it snaps! I've been just playing it one octave lower so its loose but when playing chords doesn't affect it much. I've tried raising the bridge or slowly tuning but still scared it will break. I think its broken about 3 times now so its really annoying. But if i try to solo it just sounds kind of like an old banjo haha
Any idea what to do? I don't have issues with the other strings
I don't know if this has been posted but I think its one of their best interview from the early era. Later ones seem a lot more staged like Billy is just talking and D'arcy laughing about something in the background but this seems really genuine. Idk what happened to Billy as the years go on but can really understand early pumpkins from this like Gish. Do people think all the fame and pressure just got to them over the years?
I'm pretty new to being in a band but wanted to ask what people's experience has been around working with guys or even other women in music? Good or bad experiences welcome or any funny stories people might like to share!
I kind of stole this from someone in the intro thread but thought it might be fun!
I think mine are:
D'arcy: from smashing pumpkins mostly for her bad ass fashion styles, and how she just seemed to ground the band. So sad she left!
Kim Gordon: from sonic youth! Because she's also really bad ass, really enjoyed her book and how she's got so many projects going even after they split.
Sister Rossetta Tharpe: For such powerful stage presence and really love the live performance she did for 'Didn't It Rain' in the 60s.
Melissa Auf der Maur for putting up with Cortney Love and Billy Gordan!
Gaye Advert for being one of the few women in the early punk scene to get recognition
There's others but like to hear what other people think :)
I hopefully this is ok to post, I just created this group and thought it might be a really good place to for women specifically to ask questions and get help with music related questions.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Womeninmusicreloaded/
I know there's a bunch of similar general groups and its still worth asking here but maybe cool to have some kind of space specifically for women to post which isn't just who's your fav female bassist? :)
I noticed there weren't really any groups for women specifically to discuss their music and get help and feedback from other women so decided to make this group. If there is a group I'm not aware of I'd be really interested to find out about it!
There seems to be loads of groups for men to post photos of women but this one is strictly women only who want to ask questions like; how to get into a band, how to deal with band mates, how to use a specific software or hardware? Which guitar to buy? How to get better at singing, or how to act on stage, what to wear? Or generally just share ideas and peoples fav album or something!
Intro posts welcome! :)
After losing multiple parcels with Evri I'm starting to feel like there's a clear pattern. If the item is too large or heavy there's a large chance its going to go missing. On ebay large items seem to cost about £7.19 delivery which seems way too low. So my theory is Evri will accept these large items then never intend to actually deliver them. They try to meet the deadline to deliver by faking delivery knowing they will ultimately pocket the delivery costs and ebay will refund the seller, so ultimately free money. Other companies like Royal mail, UPS, FedEx will charge larger deliver costs because they are obliged to actually deliver these items but Evri basically accepts all items just to push out these other companies. I know people who worked for Royal mail and if they don't meet certain targets the whole company gets fined. But Evri being a shady private company doesn't seem to have this kind of problem?
Untimely it's a sort of loop hole that's exploited, the government should have shut them down or implement a fine but seems powerless :(
I've been trying to create a band for a while but no one I find seems to know what shoegaze is, im from the Uk. One person was mad because they expected Fleshwater type music. Other people say shoegaze is just a bunch of effects like that's what makes it shoegaze and nothing else. Other people only imagine my bloody valentine type stuff. Also so many bands say they are shoegaze but are just shouty grunge or like basic rock, one guy said he's in a shoegaze band but doesn't really use pedals at all?
Its like there's weird disconnect between my idea of shoegaze and the average person's view. I'm into glixen, TAGABOW, MBV, Ride, Nothing. I'm thinking of just going solo because its too frustrating to try find members :(
Hi I found this for really cheap with a bunch if gear but when I try plug it into a TV there's no output :(. Do I need a special cable or device to get an output? I've tried pressing the monitor button but nothing. The manual seems confusing because it seems to need an aerial converter but other times can just go straight into a vhs player?
