This man bought a sea turtle from a market just so he could set it free
Arron Culling, a New Zealander working in Papua New Guinea, and his coworker Mark came across two live sea turtles being sold at a local food market for meat. Rather than walking away, they decided to buy the turtles with their own money to save them from being slaughtered. After purchasing the turtles for about 50 Papua New Guinean kina (roughly US$15–20 at the time), the pair drove about 5 kilometers (3 miles) to the coast and released them back into the ocean. The rescue wasn't a one-time event. Culling later explained that he and Mark had already rescued around 10 sea turtles in the same way whenever they found them for sale. Their goal was simply to give the endangered animals another chance at life. 🙌 📸: FB/Arron Culling
