Ive been thinking about azumanga theroies for a while and seeing how i have made a few myself (Chiyo-chichi being an angel theroy, the yukari gulit thory, the tomoko clone theory, etc) i wonder if anyone else got some out there takes on the series

Do you think we will ever get a backstory for these two

Just figured since we have flashbacks on how Hiragi and Tsubaki meet ume (plus one for sugi who was in that friend group) we might get one for them.

Idk is just an idea i had anyway see you all tomorrow when the chapters drops.

(226) i feel this line could hint at something darker

Im just saying we know that there is something wrong in the town and someone just dispaering for a long period of time while meeting someone who helped them move there (and who probably has connections) could be a hint to some shady things going on behind the scenes

(226) this part was lowk funny

like im 90% sure Rakta is just playing along but its so funny to think he actually think they are just janitors and the fact he has the same serious face makes it better

Azumanga theory: Chiyo-chichi is an angel

Evidence for this:

  1. He is only ever called "Chiyo's father” or just “the father” which bring to mind “the father, the son, and the holy spirit”
  2. He appears in the girls' (mainly Osaka and Sakaki's) dreams, like how an angel appears in Joseph's dream in the bible.
  3. When Osaka sees him in her dream (ep 24) she says “oh my god” an obvious reference to religion
  4. The uncanny way he sounds and speaks could hint at him being other worldly
  5. In one scene, Sakaki asks him what vet school she should go to, and he replies "what are you asking me”. This could be a metaphor on how some people turn to religion for hard questions or problems without trying to solve it themselves.
  6. The ending theme is called “raspberry heaven” and chiyo-chichi is in it, watching the girls from a distance. This could be symbolic on how he wait for them in the afterlife (as the filed the ending shows does look pretty heaven-like)
  7. One of the other cats we see is called “Kamineko” and kami means god. However with how evil kamineko is, it could be that he is the devil while chiyo-chichi is an angel. Maya could be a representation of nature (being a wildcat) and nekokoneko a symbol of humanity (a mascot)
  8. He has a very strange appearance like how angels in the bible look very abstract.
  9. With how kind Chiyo is (not to mention talented for her age) you could read her as an allegory for Jesus, which would make chiyo-chichi, her father, God.
  10. The 7 main girls are often speculated to be the seven sins (Chiyo is greed, osaka is sloth, kagura is pride, yomi is gluttony, sakaki is envy, tomo is wrath, and kaorin is lust) and so the story could be about chiyo-chichi trying to guide them to enlightenment and away from sin, hence the ending of them all walking away happily together (except kaorin isn't there, perhaps as she has yet to reach said eligthment)
