I’m an MBBS graduate and recently got really interested in understanding tech properly, purely as a hobby. I’m not trying to switch careers or become a developer, I just want to understand what’s actually happening under the hood.
I’ve been trying to learn on my own, but I keep getting confused because everything seems connected. I’ll start with HDD vs SSD and somehow end up reading about GPUs, servers, bandwidth, cloud, backend, AI, LLMs and data centres.
I know a bunch of these terms individually, but I don’t have the big picture.
What I really need is someone who can basically sit me down and say:
“Okay, forget everything. This is how computers work, this is how the internet works, this is how servers/cloud work, this is where GPUs come in, this is how AI/LLMs fit into everything, and this is what’s currently happening in tech.”
I’d love to build that kind of mental map instead of randomly Googling things for hours.
I’m not looking for a formal teacher or anything. If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys tech and is good at explaining things to someone completely outside the field, I’d honestly love to chat and learn.

Is it true that, starting November 1, 2026, it will be possible for doctors from third countries to take the direct knowledge test (KP) without a prior equivalence assessment? Does this also mean the specialist language exam (FSP) is waived if one can demonstrate the required German language skills in another way? And will the KP remain an oral-practical exam, or will it be conducted in writing in the future and cover all medical subjects? If anyone already has information on this from a medical association or licensing authority, I would be very grateful!

I've always wondered what the real numbers are, because you hear everything from "doctors make crores" to "they're underpaid."
If you're comfortable sharing, what specialty are you in, roughly how much do you earn per month, what stage of your career are you at (intern, PG, consultant, etc.), and what are your typical working hours like? Most importantly, are you actually happy with the career, or if you had the chance to start over, would you still choose medicine?
Would love to hear experiences from people in both government and private setups. No need to be exact with the salary if you don't want to .ranges are perfectly fine.
I'm at a point where I have to choose between Germany and the USA for my medical career, and honestly, it's driving me insane.
On paper, the USA seems like the smarter decision. The earning potential is incredible, specialist training is world-renowned, and if everything went well, I could probably become financially independent much earlier in life.
But then there are the downsides visa uncertainty, a much more stressful path, and this weird feeling I can't explain where I've always some fear to the US, even though it objectively offers so much.
Germany is almost the opposite. Better work-life balance, more stable immigration, a lifestyle that honestly feels like it suits me better... and, according to my astrocartography, it's by far the strongest place on my map with my Sun MC, Mercury MC and Venus MC running through it.
The rational part of me keeps saying, "Don't base a decision this big on astrology."
But another part of me keeps wondering what if astrocartography is actually describing where I'll perform at my absolute best?
Not in a "magic happens overnight" way, but in the sense that maybe I'd naturally meet the right people, get the right opportunities, feel more confident, be recognised more easily, and ultimately become a far better doctor than I would somewhere else.
Has anyone here actually made a decision like this?
Not just "I moved because it looked interesting," but choosing the place that made less sense on paper because your map was so convincing.

In den letzten Monaten lese ich online sehr unterschiedliche Aussagen. Manche sagen, dass Deutschland weiterhin gute Chancen für internationale Ärzte bietet, andere sprechen von Sättigung, Krankenhausreformen, Budgetkürzungen und einer deutlich schlechteren Zukunft.
Deshalb meine Fragen:
Zum Vergleich: In Indien ist der Weg extrem konkurrenzorientiert. Für begehrte Fachrichtungen muss man oft zu den besten 1/2 % gehören, und Arbeitszeiten von 80/100 Stunden pro Woche sind in vielen Krankenhäusern nichts Ungewöhnliches.
Ich hatte ursprünglich auch die USA im Blick, aber mich verunsichern dort vor allem Visa Fragen, die lange Einwanderungsperspektive, Sicherheitsbedenken und die Schwierigkeit, regelmäßig nach Hause zu meiner Familie zu reisen. Deshalb denke ich inzwischen ernsthaft über Deutschland nach.
Mir ist klar, dass Deutschland nicht perfekt ist. Ich versuche nur herauszufinden, ob die aktuelle Stimmung im Internet übertrieben ist oder ob das Gesundheitssystem tatsächlich in eine Richtung geht, die man als „sinking ship“ bezeichnen würde.
Ich wäre wirklich dankbar für ehrliche Erfahrungen aus dem Alltag sowohl positive als auch negative.

For me, this isn't just about salary. My family's financial situation means I want to earn well and support my parents as soon as possible, but I also don't want to end up in a situation where I can't be there if they need me. The US looks attractive financially, but I'm worried about the J-1 visa and waiver process. I've read that after residency you may have to complete a J-1 waiver job, and with all the immigration changes over the past few years, I'm confused about how much freedom you actually have. If there's a family emergency in India during residency or the waiver period, is it genuinely difficult to travel back, or is that concern exaggerated?after trump will this become elless hectic ?
germany everything is good but germany residency degree not valid in india . also like after residency the salary will be more or less 7/8000 euro at most in hand which is a very good salary in germany but not as much in usa and there is a ceiling in germany unlike usa . above that you cant earn how much you try also , german language is tough . above all i have very good work life balance 30 days vacation 50 hr work week but there were spme recent reforms where budget cuts were being planned and it might effect healthcare badly.
apart from this india is currently shit hole if you an unreserved general caegory male with no bigg money and first gen doc
