Ninja 400 ECU Flash and Other Engine Braking Mods

Hi all, I'm looking to soften the engine braking and the on/off/on throttle lurching on my Ninja 400, especially in 1st gear. I understand ECUs are good for reducing the harshness of engine braking and fully closing the throttle.

I don't need max dyno performance at all. I'm just a street rider and more interested in quality of life improvements like the above. What ECUs would be best for this use case? Cheaper is a plus.

And are there any other mods I could look into for achieving those goals of smoother ride (in addition to working on smoother inputs)?

Would be a big help to get some of ya'lls knowledge about this. Thank you.

Motul 7100 vs. Kawasaki Oil for a Ninja 400

First bike, making sure everything is well-oiled. I see these two recommendations. The Motul is about an extra $15 per oil change.

Does it really make a difference? Will Motul perform any better or last longer/provide better longevity for the motorcycle? Could use some experienced opinions.

Ninja 400 with 4000 miles. What maintenance to do?

I got a 2022 Ninja 400 with 4000 miles on it. I want to make sure it's in top condition. What all should I be looking at or maintaining having just bought the bike? The prior owner has done an oil change and the chain but not much else.

It was kept in a garage and not raced. No crashes.

Totaled Car - Making it Work

I totaled my 2010 Volvo by ripping the front bumper off. As far as I can tell, only the headlight and washer fluid are not functioning, plus the bumper and wheelwells. What is the bare minimum to get a salvage title? Do I need to replace the wheel wells?

South Rim this weekend

My brother and I are hiking South Rim this weekend. We understand the danger and have done similar hikes. Does anyone have tips, particularly given the extreme heat? We're planning on two gallons of water each, loose clothing with good coverage, and starting early morning.

A Walk with My [Partner's name]

You make me feel happy,

You fix all my sad,

Just one teardrop for that which I lack.

A gust of wind, your voice envelopes me,

The blazing sun, bright as your golden eye...

(If I stare too long, I'm not sure, I might die.)

.

The dirt and rust covers me, I can't scrape it away;

But washed clean by your laughter, I feel new, a child today.

My respite from a droning madness,

A solution to my clueless confusion,

A reason to smile,

A reason to forget.

.

My frustration, my anger,

So baffled and confused,

A hopeless situation,

There's simply nothing I can do.

But I can set this aside in my time with you,

Be human; alive,

Your soft spirit, it cuts me,

Still sharp as a knife.

The weight on my back,

It's taken a toll,

But yours heals my spirit,

And it frees my soul.

.

You give me a purpose not so distant and abstract,

With you here beside me, those things can't distract,

A moment without time,

It disappears, but you remain.

No memory, forgotten,

No victim, no shame,

No disgust and no scum,

No resentment of God;

.

I'm left with one thing:

The woman I love.

. Thank you all.

Re-applying to Law School - Job Search Advice

Hi, applied to law school this year and am deciding to apply again. I've been a legal assistant for a year and a half. 177 LSAT, 3.80 GPA.

I could really use some help. I HATE HATE HATE applying for jobs. My resume is really weak because I did various stuff during undergrad but nothing professional, no internships etc. I do have a lot going for me; I went to a great school, did some cool research, strong writer and social skills.

Can y'all give me any advice for what jobs I might look into next? Or how I might figure that out myself? I'm interested in all sorts of stuff, especially international relations and U.S. politics, but can find interest in anything. I'm just focused on what will make me a stronger candidate for law school.

I don't know where to start. I could really use some help!

Fixing scratch in boot :(

I got this terrible scratch on my beloved Redwing boots. What is the best way to darken it so it isn't so noticeable?

I want to make it as unnoticeable as possible as I wear these in a professional environment. These boots are really special to me so I would appreciate any help.

Long-term Damage Due to Tweaking Back

I've tweaked by back while doing low bar squats and occasionally deadlifts at least 10 times over \\\~3 cumulative years of lifting on most days.

What are the long term consequences of consistently tweaking the same spot of my spine? It usually takes 1-2 weeks to heal and I'm only 25. I obviously avoid it but sometimes ramp up intensity and volume too quickly when getting back into it etc.

Undeclared Firearm in Checked Suitcase

I'm curious. What would happen if someone put an unloaded pistol in their normal suitcase, and didn't even declare it in their checked baggage?

Overdue Emails but EdFinancial shows no payment due?

Hi all, I keep getting emails that my loans are overdue despite all three showing no payment due. I even paid 2x the monthly amount but just got another email. What's the deal? I'm so confused.

Both EdFinancial and studentaid.gov show my next payment as being in August.

Merged University Emails with Work Emails in Same Inbox

Hello, I accidentally added all my school emails to my work inbox. It's a long story. I created this rule to move all emails from before my start date (which all of my school emails were before that date) but it's not doing anything. The designated folder is empty after running the rule.

To be clear, the emails I'm trying to move were sent to one email address, and the emails I'm trying to keep were sent to a different email address (the account I'm logged into).

I'm stuck. Any advice?

(It says "Apply after message arrives," but I also checked for it to work on the existing inbox when I applied the rule.)

Rule description:

- Apply this rule after the message arrives

- received before Saturday, February 15 2025

- Move it to School folder

Thank you for your help!
