I'm completely addicted

I'm about 4 months in on owning an MPC.

I'm totally addicted to making beats now. It's all I think about all day. I was at mass on Sunday thinking about what else to do with my beat.

Now that I've actually developed some forumlas. I'm able to go back and take all those loops I started and make a full beat out of it.

This shit is mad addictive.

Hopefully some day I'll find myself able to write again, cause I'm gonna have a stash of beats to use.

Beat I made today

This is what I cooked up today. I put the original 4 bar loop together a little while ago. I never thought I'd do anything with it. Pleasantly surprised.

So happy to have an MPC

I finally got one and am developing formulas. I've got multiple songs I wrote that didn't have a beat and am finally able to just make the whole song myself. Fuck paying/waiting for producers.

I still plan to buy beats/work with others sometimes. But like if I make a song that's worth it I'll just buy a better beat and do a remix.

Plus when I put out a song I can say, "I wrote this and produced it."

First time making a chicken sandwich

First time making a chicken sandwich in the air fryer. Just got one like 3 days ago (I know I'm late).

As far as taste compared to cooking in oil...

One I make in oil is equivalent (better than) Popeyes.

This was okay, but I would compare it to Burger King. Definitely didn't have the crunch.

Can't transfer presets to MPC

I have an MPC One. I bought the Marco Polo presets for Flavor Pro.

I have them downloaded on my computer. But I can't get them on the MPC.

Do I need to plug my MPC to the computer? I don't get it.

Got Flavor Pro and Soft Clipper

(and Sub Factory)

Put Flavor Pro and Soft Clipper on my latest beat. Damn. Definitely made it sound better.

Hopefully I'll test out Sub Factory soon.

Keygroups for MPC One+

I'm struggling with keygroups. Specifically trying to set up one one shot 808s.

I've watched some videos but they are using the Live III and it looks different on the MPC One.

Also, would it be worth it to just buy Sub Factory? I'm considering buying that and Fabric.

However... I have a Korg Krome. I just haven't hooked it up to the MPC yet.

Why are they like this?

This is just a bit of a rant. But I'm a performing artist. Being in the artist community... this bullshit is just rampant. I can't stand to be around the stupidity anymore. I can't stand to see people cheer for it.

My grandfather was a cult leader. His cult dealt with a LOT of conspiracy bullshit. Like... Oh my gosh. I think it's how I got sucked into it when I was younger, and I think it’s why I hate it so much now. I see through it all.

And honestly, my grandfather died before I was born. I wasn't raised anywhere near his church. But as I got older and learned about conspiracy and bullshit spirituality it would always lead me to his cult.

Honestly, some of these "christians" are so bad as well.

People are so hungry and thirsty for meaning and depth. But rather than read a book or volunteer... they get lost in this bullshit.

Big Boi on Liberation

Apparently he said, "...my relationship with my folks is give and take, and I done took so much now give me my glory"

I always heard it as, "...my relationship with my folks is give and take and I done took so much I gave them my glory"

It would have been a better lyric if it was. Instead it was just bullshit ego. My way is way more humble.

As a 90s teenager...

I'm ashamed to think of the influence Christian Slater had on my life.

Pump Up the Volume. Gleaming the Cube. Fuck... there was more. But those two alone.

Effects on multiple tracks (vocals)

I am wondering if there is a way I can combine multiple tracks into one effects.

When I do vocals I typically record the main vocals on two separate tracks. Then do a third for double ups. Then sometimes a 4th for adlibs/etc.

Is there a way to have ONE efx for all those tracks without putting it on the main efx track?

Microphone recording in mono

I haven't used my good mic in reaper for like 3 years.

It's attached using a focusrite scarlett solo.

I purchased a new computer in the interim.

I got the software/driver installed and it's recognized and everything.

But for some reason it's only coming in one channel.

Any idea what's going on? I even tried to force stereo. I turned the input to stereo.

Edit: yeah, I'm dumb. Im leaving the post up in case anyone else is dumb like me. Obviously a mic is gonna be mono.

It seemed like it was only coming in on one side though. And not in the middle.

Help me to stop buying sample packs

I just got an MPC this year. I haven't developed the skills yet to properly sample from a record. I'm trying, but aren't there yet.

I keep buying sample packs so I can make beats. Despite having a subscription to Tracklib.

Probably should have gotten Splice instead. But... I'd rather use Tracklib. I've just gotta develop the skill.

If I see a sample pack for $10-15 that's royalty free I'm gonna buy it.

Keyboard stand/MPC mount

I'm trying to find a keyboard stand with a mount/shelf I can put an MPC above the keyboard. I've seen people have them, but I can't find one on the internet.

Anyone know of any?

I use an MPC One +

Recording track mutes

So after I have arranged a beat in song mode, is there a way I can live record the track mutes?

I want the whole arrangement to play, and then be able to record dropping out drums/etc.

Obviously I could plug the MPC into something that records live and do it, but I'm trying to see if I can get it recorded into the program when I replay it.

Adjusting filter levels

If I'm on FL there is a knob for filters. So for example if I put on a delay I can adjust the knob to like 30% so it turns down the filter.

Is there a way to do this on the MPC (I use the MPC One+)?

For some reason I have real problems using filters on the MPC.

Falling Down (1993)

I've seen this movie a bunch of times. First time I was young but I understood it. I didn't think Defens was a hero or anything. I kinda laughed at some parts.

Later in life watching it I would see Defens as a hero.

But when I watched it again just the other day...

**spoiler alert***

I realized something I didn't before. Even though Prendergast says it. He really was gonna kill his family.

In the scene where he interrupts the barbecue he talks about his family and says how they are all gonna get together and at the end of the day go to sleep forever and everything will be just like it was.

Guess he's not a hero. But I knew that.

On a side note. I too once had a mental breakdown and ended up in Santa Monica. I wasn't gonna hurt anyone though.
