PPG Pro vs BM Woodluxe

I live in Bellingham, WA. I'm repainting an existing deck that was originally stained with a semi-transparent oil based stain. The current state of the wood is mixed with many areas with bare wood and covered areas with the stain intact.

The contractor suggested I use PPG Proluxe solid but the base for light colors isn't available. I'm therefore considering the PPG Pro Flood solid or the BM Woodluxe solid. Both paints are water based acrylic. The plan is to power wash, sand and then paint the deck.

Which of the paints would you pick?

Help diagnose 2010 Subaru Impreza Issues

My cousin who lives in Haines, Alaska owns a 2010 Subaru Impreza with 60,000. The local mechanic is unable to identify the issues with the car.

The first issue is the grinding sound when I turn the wheel with the car stationary.

The second issue is the jingling sound that occurs when I accelerate from 0 to 20 and then stops. The jingling comes from the back left wheel.

The video shows both issues.

Issues with fan and heat on 1.5 year old refurbished unit

I bought a refurbished BedJet 3 unit for my wife in November 2024. She has religiously maintained the filter and unit. Recently, she's noticed that the fan produces less airflow and temperature feels lower for the same setting.

Has anyone encountered these issues?

Need drills to solve arm issue or a good psychologist

Repeat requester :). I continue to struggle with my swing. I improved for a short period and the regressed. I'm unsure if it's the hips not pulling my arm around and through, shoulders dipping, etc... I can't generate speed or consistently hit the ball. About ready to give up this game.

Any help with drills or other?

Help diagnosing issue with deck

I own a 40 year old home on a lake in the Pacific Northwest. The deck railing on the top level (yellow circle) is leaning outward at the top rail. The edge of the deck floor is also lifting in these areas. The joists and ledger board don't appear to be pulling away from the house.

What is causing the issue? How do I fix it?

Update: pics of the underside of the deck

Feedback on status of gas

I have a 2013 Malibu wakesetter that o haven't started in 24 months. The images show the gas I tested and extracted from the bottom of the tank. The test shows less than 10% ethanol and the gas from the bottom is yellowish but not separated. The tank is approximately 60% full.

How to plug broken PVC connection

Sprinkler head broke off at the PVC connection. I want to plug the pipe instead of fixing it. Unfortunately, the pipe in the ground sheered off so there's no thread on it. Is there a way to avoid digging up and fixing the line - plug it?

How to plug broken PVC connection

I have sprinklers installed in my yard and one of the sprinklers snapped at the PVC connection. I'd like to plug it instead of fixing it. Unfortunately, the PVC end in the ground doesn't have a threaded piece given it snapped off. I thought about a plug but worry the water pressure will cause it top pop off.

Are there any options?

Wash sale rule for Gold ETF

I have a position in AAAU (gold) that has an unrealized loss given the decrease in gold. I want to sell the position and simultaneously buy GLD or DGL to maintain exposure. Alternatively, I could invest in a gold miner but it has a higher divergence to the others. I'm unsure whether the strategy will pass the wash sale rule.

AAAU
The [Goldman Sachs Physical Gold ETF (AAAU)](https://www.etf.com/AAAU) is an exchange-traded fund designed to track the spot price of gold (minus operating expenses). It provides investors with direct, liquid exposure to physical gold bullion without the complexities of storing or insuring the metal themselves.

GLD
The **SPDR Gold Shares ETF (GLD)** is the oldest, largest, and most heavily traded physically backed gold ETF in the world. While it serves the exact same primary purpose as AAAU—tracking the spot price of physical gold bullion—it has a very different structural footprint and cost profile

DGL
The single index Commodity consists of Gold. The fund invests in futures contracts in an attempt to track its corresponding index.

Help with swing ... please

I have an issue with my swing that I can't figure out. My wrist and arm get hung up on my follow through. It's not an issue with my grip as the pressure is a 2 out of 10. I think it's my elbow and back swing but am unsure how to correct it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Transitioning from individual stocks to ETFs

I have a portfolio of 60 stocks from my last money manager ($5MM). The stocks are all domestic with 100% belonging to the S&P. Approximately 50% of the individual stocks have meaningful gains. Those stocks represent $4MM of the $5MM. I want to diversify into international and hedged stocks and fixed income.

I see 2 solutions to the situation.

  1. Sell the stocks with the lowest embedded gains up to my cap gains budget and use the proceeds to diversify. I'll be left with 30 stocks that have a value of $4MM and a higher concentration, $ per stock, than my current portfolio. I don't know the tracking error of the remaining stocks.

  2. Use Direct Indexing to identify the combination of stocks that results in the greatest proceeds, the smallest gains, and lowest tracking error. I will likely not be able to diversify as much to non-S&P ETFs since I'll need to use some of the cash proceeds to the DI to lower the tracking error. I'll end up with a basket of DI stocks that have a low tracking error but one that has less overall diversification.

The core question is whether I'm best off with a less diversified portfolio with a lower tracking tracking error for the core allocation (~80% of $).
