Do flat sleep masks cause nighttime ointments to evaporate due to poor sealing?
There is a lot of discussion about nighttime moisture retention for MGD, but mask isolation is rarely mentioned. For heavy eye gels or ointments to actually work, the eyes need total isolation to block airflow from AC or ceiling fans. Flat masks press directly against the eyelids, forcing treatments to bleed through thin, porous fabric (like 16/19 momme silk) while leaving a massive air gap around the nose bridge. This lack of a proper seal accelerates evaporation, leaving eyes bone dry by 4 AM. Mechanically, it seems a deep 3D molded cavity is required to create a true moisture chamber, paired with dense 22 momme silk to lock the treatment in. Has anyone here managed to find a 3D silk mask that creates a genuine, airtight moisture seal around the nose?
