Heard of Super Doctor K? It’s basically Kureha Gaiden

It basically focuses on a super buff doctor who not only cures weird cases with wild medical glazing and pseudoscience but also straight up rescues people in danger like a firefighter. In fact, it’s possible that this manga inspired Kureha’s character. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of Kureha.

I hate that American cheese is dismissed as gross “plastic” cheese

First off, it’s real cheese, made from a blend of other cheeses and sodium citrate, a naturally-occurring additive used for emulsifying. In fact, the unique addition of this harmless additive is what allows the cheese to be melted and creamy without separating into grease, unlike most other cheeses. Realistically, it is no different from adding sodium bicarbonate and potassium bitartrate (baking powder) to a cake, which is perfectly acceptable. The only “plastic” component if the wrapping for each slice, if you can’t be bothered to buy and slice a block of the stuff.

Secondly, it has its place in the culinary world. It is the official, if not objectively correct cheese for a cheeseburger, although you may prefer a different cheese. It is also a choice option for philly cheesesteaks and breakfast sandwiches. Moreover, as outlined above, its unique meltiness makes it ideal for dishes that call for cheese in a creamy or gooey form, such as macaroni and cheese or grilled cheese sandwiches. Edit: fair enough, I wouldn't eat it on a cheese board or generally on its own and would treat it as an ingredient instead.

Lastly, despite it being a natural product and a delicious addition to cheeseburgers and many other cheese-based dishes, it is affordable. It is the American values of family and perseverance, despite the constant turmoil of the economy. It represents the single mom with two jobs quickly making a warm, filling sandwich for her child. It represents the tray of pasta brought to the potluck to selflessly feed the whole community. It represents the backyard cookouts meant to bring the whole neighborhood together.

I hate it when doctors say "I was just interested in [insert competitive field], so I joined them"

I hear this a lot at different lectures, talks, etc. where doctors in competitive specialties say that they got interested in a currently competitive field due to shadowing, rotations, research, etc. and joined it on a whim because of that. That's simply not the reality anymore. Even if you're purely interested in the actual practice rather than lifestyle or money, and would gladly work for less money if it meant being in that field, you still have to claw your way up with inordinate amounts of research, consistently perfect clinical performance, and numerous connections. It just feels tone deaf - how can they not be aware that their own field's requirements have changed so drastically and sell the lie that, "oh yeah, you just have to be interested like I was"?

Can't change the title, but hate is a strong word. I'm just annoyed about being reminded frequently that everyone had it easier than we current students.

I hate racism

I literally hate racism so much. It's just terrible. Imagine hating someone for the color of their skin. It's genuinely such a terrible thing to do, and with how much awareness we have of it today, I can't believe we haven't moved on from it. Anyways, thank you for listening to my incredibly unique take on something that has never been posted about on this sub.

Bug Fables is on sale for the Switch for half off!

There's an indie game sale going on right now on the Nintendo website, and Bug Fables is half off. I got it just a couple of days ago, and I'm genuinely so hooked. It's almost exactly like TTYD, and it really scratches the itch! It also runs really smoothly and looks great, which is something I'm normally worried about when buying Switch games. Sorry if I sound like I'm advertising, I don't mean to be

Lil guy waiting out the rain in a tree stump

It’s raining pretty hard today. Saw a cool jelly fungus (slide 3), since lots of fungi love to come out around rainy days, but I also noticed some movement in the tree stump’s hole. Lo and behold, it was a toad! (thank god it wasn’t a cockroach)

No clue what species it is. Couldn’t get a better pic because I didn’t want to disturb it. Thoughts?

Red fingers, blue fingers - which to chop?

Looks like the powers that be rolled a snake eyes, so you're now voting with your fingers instead of harmless buttons!

Red - one random finger of yours will be sawn off. You could get away with losing your left pinky, or you could be screwed over with no right index, vice versa if you're left-handed. If you pick the red option, there's no choice other than to cut or not, and that will be your only vote.

Blue - you have to saw off a finger, but you to pick which one. You can also saw off subsequent fingers for 2 votes each, and sawing at the wrist for the whole hand is 10 extra votes each. If you convince every blue voter to lose their pinkies, you can certainly win even without a majority vote. As long as you have volunteered at least 1 finger, you can cut off other people's fingers and hands, which will count towards your blue votes.

You must pick an option, and either option makes you lose at least 1 finger. I am saying "sawn" intentionally. For whichever choices you make, a magical saw will slowly but surely remove the finger/hand. All the pain of your decision will be felt, but no bleeding or infectious complications will follow.

Same ratios as the buttons, otherwise. Children and the mentally unfit are spared from the voting process but will be affected by the results. Everyone else is eligible and must participate - there is no opting out.

What will you do?

I hate how the prey are somehow “bad” in these comics

I think pet_foolery’s comic (slide 1) is interesting if you see the dog’s struggle as just one perspective as with the sheep or the wolf (which most readers don’t), but it’s awful if taken at face value as a statement on nature or philosophy (which most readers do). The second comic is just pretentious.

I hate it when comics, media, etc. frame the prey as evil and misguided for wanting pity and wishing ill their predators. We are to feel bad for the wolves’ starving plight, even though if they weren’t whining in a chair smoking (slide 2) or dead in the snow (slide 1, offscreen), they would probably rip the prey’s head off and eat them alive if they hadn’t already done that to their family members.

This is not some “two sides have conflicting but fair perspectives.” This is where one brutally kills, and one has to survive that. The sheep, rabbit, etc. has zero obligation to feel any sympathy for their predator and are absolutely valid to unabashed feel hatred and fear towards their predators.

Also, both of these comics (and other examples) are based on “realistic”nature used to make a philosophical point. I’m not really thinking of Beastars or Zootoopia or any fantastical scenarios that reframe things greatly.

Edit: the wolves are not wrong in killing and eating prey because it is their nature. My main point is that prey are not wrong for hating them back because of this, even though the comics here portray them as this in one way or another.

I hate how discussion of some racial/religious topics are too sensitive, but blatant racism against Indians is perfectly fine

Slides 1-2, a post about Muslims removed for being too sensitive. Slide 3 onward, openly racist comments towards Indians from a post about Indians on this sub, with no removal or interaction by mods. Inb4 someone calls me a jeet or says this is justified.

Pi Patel - his journey after being shipwrecked is one of grit and introspection. If anything, the world around him is mystical.

Connie Maheswaran - she starts off as a nerdy-type, but quickly develops into a well-rounded character with a passion for swordfighting.

Tom Haverford - he is a government official who is sarcastic, flashy, mischievous, and arrogant, quite the opposite of your typical shy Indian tech nerd.

Lawrence Kutner - he's one of House's fellows, and while he is very smart, they frame it as craftiness and willingness to take risks rather than nerdiness.

Akira Hayama - he's a culinary student with a keen nose and mastery over spices. Seems stereotypical, but this is actually portrayed pretty positively, with him being seen as a true genius rather than nerdy or exotic.
