How long do direct applications take to process? Do they wait until the closing date comes close or do they process within few days of submitting?

Jobseeker Workforce Australia online extension

Long story cut short I was planning on studying a degree this year but the $($/&($;# advisor who enrolled me stuffed up the application and now it’s too late to enrol. So instead of doing a degree I have to do two single units over 13 weeks followed by 2 single units over the subsequent 13 weeks in order to enrol into a degree in March 2027. My question is this, if I report the two units on workforce Australia online would I be able to stay in online services for anouther 6 months? and also what is the course name when it’s just single units? I looked at adding the units and it asks for the course name.

Do people think this is doable or a super bad idea?

Studying online question

If I were to study at Curtin online, are the classes via zoom? Do you have to show your face and answer questions? And do you have to give presentations?

Updating mailing address question.

So, I wanted to get a PO Box from AusPost but then a work mate persuaded me to get a mail service. So, I did I signed up and verified my ID etc and now I’m all set up. Then another mate told me that once I update my mailing address with ATO, Medicare, Centrelink etc it could take up to a month for it to actually update on their back end. Now I already update my mailing address with my university for which I will be enrolling soon and I believe they will send me mail which I need to study online. Does It just take a month to update with government or with everyone? How long would it take with universities?

Melbourne Hotel fire alarm triggered bill

Last week I stayed at a hotel in Melbournes CBD. Large 10-14 story building probably 200 rooms. I used the water beaker to make myself some instant noodles. I left the noodles on the tables and laid down on the bed, about 20 mins later I got a call asking me if there was a fire in the room. I said no and the guy said he was coming up to the room. I opened the door there is a fire brigade and the dude from the reception asking to check the room. So I let them in and they left. There was no fire. So when I went to check out. The guy at the reception, a different guy told me I owned them like $2,000 bucks coz the alarm got triggered and the brigade was called. There was no fire, I don’t know if the alarm could have been triggered by condensation/caper from the noodles. This place has no windows you can open. What do people think?

IPad 2025 condensation issue

I live in one of those Victorian fridge homes. I noticed that in the morning my IPad screen is covered in condensation. Would that damage my IPad over time?

Pub culture Adelaide

Curious, I’m from Germany and I noticed that there is a lot made about drink spiking in Australia. People are encouraged to not leave their drunks unattended. But what if you go to pub by yourself and you need to pee? Do you take your drink with you?

Google Glasses use in the workplace

One of my co workers comes to work wearing Google Glasses. He has this long standing feud with another co worker and observing him from a distance, I would say he is trying to bait the coworker into a trap, record it and get HR to fire him. What do people think?

4K vs 1080p gaming/film viewing IMac

I want to buy a 4.5k M4 IMac to use as a gaming machine and for film viewing. But I want to watch 1080p films from my library and game on 1080p. Would that give me a lower quality viewing experience compared to buying a Mac mini and using a 1080p monitor? Thanks.

I’ve noticed that a lot of GPs and dentists work in one location 2 days a week in a another for 2 days and in a third for 1 day, for different providers. Same with dentists. Why is that? Did something change?

Return to PC gaming build advice

So, I’ve been a ps5 gamer since 2020 and now I was to get back into PC gaming for nostalgia. I want to play 2002 to 2015 games. But I am set on 1080p 60fps no frame Gen. I also want to use the PC for watching films and tv shows. I don’t know if I should go with mini pc plus screen set up or with laptop set up. Also should I buy around April 2027 or November 2027? Thank you. Budget $1000 USA or $1400AUD that’s includes mouse, keyboard, monitor 27iips is good enough. But I want 1tb SSD and 16gb ram. The dates I gave is because of memory price hikes due to shortage.

Public housing for over 55s

Currently I am in my early 40s. There is no chance that I will ever own a home and at the age of 67 will only have my age pension of live on. My 60s will mostly be unemployment and part time work, as the only labour I can do is manual and who in their right mind would hire me after 60. So, decisions need to be made now. My question is this, how hard would it be for me to obtain public housing around the age of 60? I have rented privately my whole life and thats all the experience I have in terms of housing.
