Any therapist recommendations??
I know this has been asked before, but I can’t find the posts now. Can somebody recommend some LGBTQ friendly therapists? Mainly want to talk about relationships stuff…

Has anyone gone on a good date with someone from an app, but for whatever reason the timing didn’t work out romantically, and you decided to stay friends?
If there was still some chemistry or attraction there, how did you navigate the friendship? Did it eventually feel completely platonic, or did it get complicated?
I’ve been living in NYC for about six years, and even though I’ve been dating on and off for most of that time, I still haven’t been able to get into a serious relationship.
I’ve met a handful of guys over the years who I genuinely really liked and could have seen myself dating seriously, but for different reasons, none of them worked out. Sometimes they just didn’t think we were the right match. A couple of times it seemed to be more about timing. They had already met someone else before meeting me, things were progressing with that person, and they decided to see where that went instead.
I’ve been on the apps for a long time and go on dates fairly regularly, but the vast majority don’t lead anywhere. Sometimes I’m not interested, sometimes they aren’t interested, and sometimes there just isn’t enough of a connection on either side.
I’m starting to wonder if there’s something I’m missing. I haven’t really gotten feedback suggesting that there’s a major issue with my personality, and I think I’m a pretty normal person with a stable life who genuinely wants a relationship.
Looks wise, I don’t think I’m unattractive, but I also know I’m not going to be everyone’s type. I’m a minority, and I do sometimes wonder how much that affects dating. There are definitely people who find me very attractive, but attraction is obviously subjective.
I guess I’m curious whether anyone else has had a similar experience, especially in NYC. Have you dated for years without ever finding someone where the attraction, compatibility, interest, and timing all happened to line up?
At what point would you start thinking you need to change something about how you date, rather than accepting that dating can just take a really long time?
New to the area, any recommendations on good yoga classes?
I am completely new to yoga, prefer somewhere that offers beginner friendly classes. My back is as hard as a rock lol…
I have a friend I’ve developed a bit of a crush on, and I suspect there might be some mutual feelings there too. I’m not necessarily trying to turn every hangout into an intentional “date,” but I’d love to start doing things together that are a little more fun and memorable.
So far we’ve mostly been going to dinner and seeing shows, which I love, but I’m thinking more along the lines of arcade games, something interactive, a random little adventure, etc. basically things where we can laugh, mess around, and actually create some memories together instead of just sitting across from each other at dinner.
Any recommendations in NYC for activities/places that would be good for this kind of is-this-a-date-or-isn’t-it situation? 😂 Open to anything cute, weird, competitive, spontaneous, nighttime adventures, whatever!
Places you would recommend to get PrEP/3 months testing in midtown/chelsea… prefer somewhere that allows appointment with a few days.
The place that I have been going to usually have to schedule weeks in advance
Thanks!
Just moved to LIC, wonder where I can go to get tested and PrEP. I have been going to the hospital on 168th, but it’s too far now.
They have been refilling me the medication at Walgreen every month, if I go get tested at a new place, should I move that too?
Thanks?
I’m in kind of an awkward situation and could use some outside opinions.
A couple of months ago, one of my friends told me he had been seeing a guy. They went on dates almost every week, and after each one he’d tell me, “I finally met someone who’s exactly my type.” He seemed really excited about him.
The complication was that my friend was already thinking about leaving NYC for another city, so he wasn’t sure whether it made sense to pursue anything seriously. From what he told me, nothing physical or romantic ever happened between them. They mostly went on dates, talked, and hung out.
Eventually my friend decided to move. He told the guy, and the guy basically said something like, “I think we feel more like friends than something romantic.” They still keep in touch and occasionally go to events together because they share similar interests.
Fast forward to now. I’m gay, but I’m still mostly in the closet around my friends (I’m slowly opening up). I’ve been talking to someone on Hinge for a while, and we finally planned our first date.
Then I realized… it’s the exact same guy my friend had been telling me about.
I genuinely had no idea until my friend showed me pictures recently.
Now I’m conflicted.
On one hand, they never became a couple, the guy wasn’t interested romantically, and my friend has since decided to move away anyway.
On the other hand, I know my friend really liked him, and I also haven’t come out to him yet. If I go on this date, there’s a decent chance he’ll eventually find out—not only that I’m dating someone he once liked, but also that I’m dating men at all.
Would you:
I’d appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve been in similar situations.
When you are already on O1 and you just got a job and need to change your agent/petitioner to your new employer, would that be considered visa sponsorship?
When I applied for a job, my employer asked if I needed the visa sponsorship, and I said no because at that time I was already on my O1 Visa, would I be considered lying?
I am a classically trained pianist, I have years of experience and graduated from top music schools. I know Lincoln Center used to have that piano quintet thing that sends you onto a cruise to perform, but unfortunately it doesn’t exist anymore.
If I want to look for gigs like this, that plays only classical music, are there any leads? Seems like everyone is looking for improvisation/pop.

I am sure I saw it somewhere that Mariah had the idea of releasing an album/single without prior announcement, but Beyoncé/Taylor Swift beat her, so she stopped and didn’t want to follow trend.
Is it true or am I making this up?
My new lawyer is telling me it’s possible to file O1 petition A YEAR before the intended start date, but all my other lawyers told me I could only do that 6 months before.
And, my new lawyer is saying because I want my visa start date to be Aug 2027, I would have to file premium processing in Feb. if I file regular processing now, I won’t make it in time.
Are any of these true?
Since I have seen a few times here, I might try my luck.
This happened a few years ago, so I know it’s a long shot.
We were in the same elevator at Carnegie House, and I think you just moved in. I was visiting my friend, we were both wearing a mask.
You looked at me several times, you seemed nervous. Then I looked at you and asked if everything was ok, you looked nervous (and cute). I left on the 2/f, the door closed. But you opened it again, you stepped out and wanted to find something to ask. You ended up asking me where the laundry room was (it was so cute, because you were clearly trying to find things to talk about). I just told you I was visiting a friend, maybe I should have flirted a bit more and asked for your number.
But if that’s you, lmk haha!
I am a well-trained classical pianist here, I am wondering how I can get more gigs?
I teach and play for rehearsals/productions, but I am hitting a bottleneck l, I want to expand my job types and get more income lol
Any advice?
Are there any part time remote DS jobs available? Or even short gigs?
I am in my master now, would want some extra experience and money. Thanks
So I had a bad experience this year, I matched somebody and we had a really nice first date. None of us wanted to leave, we ended up talking and walking for 4.5 hours, we kissed.
But right before our second date, which was supposed to be 6 days after our first date, they suddenly said they had met somebody else and wanted to focus on them.
Of course I was so disappointed, but I also blamed myself for not being more proactive. In any case, how long do you wait to schedule a second date? Do you just reject other people when you have gone on 3 dates with another person?
Sorry new to this subreddit, IX this for classical music at all?
I am a piano teacher with 10 years of experiences. I am currently in NYC, I have been freelancing in the city for 6 years now. I travel to my students’ houses and I do two student concerts every year. I am currently charging $120/hr now, but most of my students only need 30mins per week. Should I raise my rate? I currently have 13 students, but most only need 30mins.
I graduated from top conservatories, with a master degree.
Also, can people advise me how to get more students? Right now, it’s mainly word of mouth, but I want to be more proactive about that.
A few years ago, my lawyer filed my O1B application and it took 3 months for it to get back to me, even though officially it said it would take 9-12 months.
I still have one year left before I have to renew, my new lawyer suggested me to do premium processing, she said it’s taking so much time now. Is it true? Has anybody filed it recently?
If I am doing a fellowship and employed by the city government, am I a municipal employee? Is there somebody I can ask to confirm?
