Has anyone seen knock-off regenerations in other works of fiction?

Basically where it's obviously supposed to be regeneration, but the name and a few details are changed?

I can't think of any, but I feel like something like that must exist out there. And I'm curious as to how it's handled in other shows, both from a storytelling perspective, and how they avoid getting sued over it

I wasn't banned, but I can no longer comment or post on a specific subreddit

I asked the mods a question, and they muted me. Now all the reply icons are greyed out, and I have no option to comment or post.

I thought muting only applied to messaging. Is this the outcome of being muted, or have I been banned and just not received a message for it?

How would everyone feel, if the show went this direction with The Master? (Just a thought!)

And would it salvage Missy's arc?

What if the show proceeded with The Master, as two sides of the same person, constantly fighting to be on top, to rule the regeneration?

The Friend v The Rage

They could turn it into some tragic fluctuation where these two sides of The Master are constantly fighting against each other, scrambling to be the one on top: The earnest, devoted, and heartfelt friend v The one in pain, bathed in rage and cloaked in hatred. Each regeneration one wins out over the other. And then that war of selves could turn into a struggle and commitment to being The Friend, permanently. But no matter how much The Friend succeeds, every now and then Rage takes over. It would make The Master an eternal wild card, with each new regeneration. The question always being: Which side has won out, in the person now standing before me?

The tragedy being that The Friend won't always win out, The Rage drives the wedge deeper between The Master and The Doctor, with The Friend always trying to fix it/ redeem themselves/ make up for it.

This fight could go on, even within the same regeneration. Changing the focus of The Master from being a recurring villain who's CrAzY, to the struggle between their best and worst sides. A struggle they're doomed to live out, forever.

I felt that part of the tragedy of Missy's death, was that a new person took over her body, and undid everything she worked toward.

Idk does anyone think this would work, if they did it? And could is salvage Missy's arc? Hell, could it simultaneously salvage all of The Master's regenerations at once?

It'll likely never happen. But if it did, I feel like it could work. But what about y'all?

Thoughts?

Will pay back $30 by Saturday 8/23. More than likely you'll get it back Monday 8/17 evening.

I just need $20 for gas, to get started working Instacart tomorrow. I have a FT job, but do Instacart on my days off. My tank is just super empty, and I just paid a couple bills.

Could anyone else practically smell Bear through the screen?

With how damp and unkempt he looked, I swear I could smell him through the screen. I've heard people say that he's actually physically good looking, but to me he spent most of the movie I desperate need of a shower.

In the scene where he's having sex with her and you see his bare ass, he looked so filthy.

Anyone else?

Does Missy in seasons 8 & 9, feel like a completely different character than season 10?

8 & 9 Missy was funny, bananas, and seemed like she would be a lot of fun to hang out with. She had me laughing my ass off.

But season 10 Missy felt like a different character. Her conversation with Bill felt dark and scary. There wasn't really any real humor, moreso it was just Missy being a depressed dick.

Missy talking with Bill was clearly just enjoying freaking Bill out, and being a dick to her. She seemed hell bent on taking her happiness from her, in that moment. But that was all she did- aside from providing relevant information.

She was predatory throughout the entire show. But where 8 & 9 Missy hid it with humor, 10 was just kinda pissed off. There's a world of difference between how she was during the "twenty feet" joke and the "darling those are genders" joke. In these cases actually, I could see her saying both, but not with those wildly attitudes.

Season 8 & 9 Missy was hilarious. Was she there to be a sadistic, too? Sure. But humor was woven in with every step she took.

I couldn't imagine Season 10 Missy saying, "Mummy, do it again!" or "Cheap and nasty time travel" in the ways that she did.

In all of these seasons, Missy did some straight up sadistic things. But season 8 & 9 Missy did things that you could see others laughing along *with.* Season 10 Missy was constantly past the "Waaaayyy too far" line.

Yes, World Enough and Time had some very funny parts. But the humor felt like it belonged to a different character.

I get that in season 10, she's beginning to feel remorse for her actions, and is subsequently likely fairly depressed.

It just felt a little too different. I went back to watch her episodes with 12, and was shocked at the difference. Season 8 Missy & season 9 Missy were different enough, but I could still see 8 doing things 9 did.

8 & 9 Missy was very put together. She was well-dressed in her Victorian outfits. Season 10 Missy looked like a goth person and a steam punk person's closet threw up on her. Her wardrobe didn't make much sense, and her hair was messier than anyone's hair could realistically naturally be.

I stopped watching some time after season 9 started, and a YouTube rabbit hole led to me learning about her redemption arc. So I went back and watched *only* the episodes with Missy in them.

She just doesn't feel like the same character, even if you account for the character growth she's going through.

Season 8 Missy was homicidal but hilarious. Season 9 Missy was here for a good time, not a long time. Season 10 Missy didn't even really make any jokes, aside from the "show a little respect" line and the "Doctor Who" scenes.

Season 8 & 9 were funny but cunningly sinister. Season 10 was depressed, pissed off, and lashing out. Season 8 & 9 had a focus on getting people to let their guards down. Season. 10 wanted people's guards up 24/7.

They just feel way too different.

Anyone else? Just having watched all of the Missy episodes and skipping the rest, made this all more noticeable, I think

Fellow Panera employees, do your stores also make you change the expiration dates?

It's part of opening for my store. Every single item that expires on that day, has to have their date dot swapped out for a newly generated one.

It's a big deal, at my store. You get a lot of shit from management if you miss one. Ingredients only get thrown away, if they "look" gross..

So let's say the expiration date is always two days after the sticker is made. It's June 6th, and the expiration date that was printed shows that the hard-boiled eggs expire on June 6th. Whoever opens would be expected to print out a new date, showing the product now expires on June 8th.

I hate it, and I think it's disgusting- let alone dangerous.

Just curious how common this is.

Looking for fanfic recs of Missy, and The Doctor and The Master's past as friends on Gallifrey

I know there's an audio series, for Missy. But until I win the lottery and can afford to put $40 down for a season, we're doing this old school

General types of pics I'm looking for:

\>Missy one shot where she and The Doctor get to spend time as true friends again- at least for a little while

\>If it exists, Missy's last day before regeneration (maybe a delayed regeneration), and her living it out as the person she'd become

\>Stories of The Doctor's and The Master's life as friends on Gallifrey

\>Something that expands on Missy's line in \*The Witch's Familiar\* "The Doctor gave it to me when my daughter-"

\>Missy and Spy Master turn out to be a bi-generatoon

Please recommend fanfics you either know are good- either because you've read them, or because you've heard a lot of hype for them

Nothing spoils this kind of fun, quite like a bad story

Is it worth it to try and transfer, if these are the reasons why I want to?

People keep coming to the line, making a sandwich and bumping it, without saying anything. A similar sandwich is also on the screen, and I end up with no idea if it's already been started or not.

This wouldn't be a problem, except sometimes I've already start making that item, and no one told me they were making it. So I end up with a half-made sandwich, wondering if I got my ordera mixed up and started making a different sandwich half way through (I've done this a couple times).

People keep telling me to label the sandwiches and that that will solve the problem. But the confusion happens while making the sandwich. I have no idea what orders have been given out.

I used to work at Sheetz, and I'm used to small bits of communication, letting people know you already made the item, or asking if you've made it yet. It's a simple question and answer. But where I am, people don't even tell you that they've already put the sandwich you're currently making, in the oven.

They keep telling me that this is why everyone needs to label their sandwiches- which I do. But how on earth will that help me know that a sandwich I just started making, is currently in the oven?

To me, my store has poor communication. I know for different store chains, it's different. But is this how other Paneras are?

I just want to know, if it would he worth it to try transferring, even thougn I've only been there about a month. There are other reasons I want to transfer, but I don't think it will be worth it if the communication is this bad, across the board.

I'm supposed to be working toward a catering lead assistant role. But my GM refuses to tell me what my pay would become once that happens. I've asked her several times, but she just keeps brushing me off.

My final problem, is that the catering lead has made it pretty clear that he's going to avoid my participation in orders, because he doesn't want to share the tips. He wants to keep getting the managers to help him, because he doesn't have to share his tips with them. I know this is his problem, because he's essentially told me that he's only going to have me involved, if I really need it. And that is *not* what I signed up for.

Another thing, is when I started getting a lot faster, I sort of playfully told him to tell the GM how fast I was getting- the GM was sitting right next to him He just looked at me, and said "no.,"

So would it be worth transferring? How likely is it that the communication will be better in a different store? And what are the chances I'll have an estimated pay up front, and actually be involved in the catering side of things?

Any corporate-owned store in SW PA?

I'm working at a franchise, and I want to move to a store that will give me a free meal, and a discount when I'm off the clock. Currently I only get a discount, when I'm on the clock.

It's just such bullshit.

Any non-fanchise stores in southwestern PA?

If you make false accusations against your driver for a "free" ride, you are trash

Worthless, disgusting gutter trash. You are the fluid at the bottom of dumpsters.

Your ride isn't "free." You're paying for it with someone else's rent money. Someone who provided you with a service.

You used their service. You used their time. You used their vehicle. But you don't want to pay for the luxury service you were provided- and yes, a personal chauffeur ride is a luxury service. So you filed a very serious complaint. You put their job in jeopardy. You got them temporarily suspended or permanently banned.

Imagine someone make a claim like that about you at work, and you get suspended without pay for a week. Would you start panicking about being able to pay rent, and afford your bills? Yeah, that's what you're doing to the driver who very kindly provided you with this luxury service.

Those of you who work in fast food, imagine if someone didn't want to pay for their food, so they told your manager you were screaming epithets at you. You get your free meal, and they're not allowed to come to work for a week. Or they straight up get fired. All because you didn't want to pay for your burger, instead of cooking one at home.

You're a bad person. You are trash. Complete and utter trash.

So insubordination is the clear answer in this situation, right?

[ETA: I don't work up front, right now. I don't handle the donations, and have no idea what the guy even looks like. I'm not a manager, I just know my responsibility to younger women- I think most of us on here do]

I'm working at a fast food place, and we give our day old stuff to a soup kitchen. Today I learned that the guy that comes to pick the food up, habitually hits on my 23 year old manager (I'm in my 30s). Earlier today, she said she actively avoided doing something, because he was out there and she's "afraid of him."

I mentioned calling the soup kitchen and asking them to send someone else, because that behavior is nowhere near acceptable. He has an obligation to be professional, just as much as we do. I was given a "No, don't do that." Not a firm "no," but moreso that casual, chiding tone that almost makes light of it- I hope that describes it accurately. It's a tone you would hear in this context, a lot.

But no, I'm not going to let this person be harassed by someone who should be behaving in a professional matter. I'm sure we're all familiar with the responsibility to protect younger women and girls.

I'm almost dead set on calling around until I find the right soup kitchen and telling them to send someone else and why, after work today. If someone gets mad at me, I'll pretend I didn't hear them when they told me not to. A 23 year old is more likely to not want to be a bother. I sure as fuck don't have this problem.

This is the obvious answer, right? Nobody needs to know. Also, how many of you would take this route, no question.

I got hired as a Catering Lead Assistant, but they didn't check my driving history (which is not great). Is this doomed to fail?

My driving history is not great. If someone ran a motor vehicle report on me, my driving history would not be considered acceptable.

The store I'm about to join, is run by someone who is likely in their very early 20s, based on my interactions with her. She initially told me that they were giving this position to someone else. Then when I came in to finish onboarding, she made an off-hand remark, about how I actually did have the Catering Lead Assistant position.

She said she wants me to train, and then when I get the hang of it, I'll be bumped up from regular associate to CLA.

I haven't filled out anything to run an MVR. I do deliver for Shipt, Instacart, and Spark. But in the past 5 years, I've totaled 2 cars. In the past 6 years, I've had 4 accidents. I'm not a high risk driver *anymore.* But my last accident/ totaled car, was a year ago.

Are they just going to end up having to go, "Oh, whoops! Nevermind, you can't deliver orders. Back down to normal associate you go."

I'm becoming a bit concerned about the GM's lack of organization. I don't have anything against her being much younger than most GMs I'm used to (and likely around 10 years younger than me). But she *acts* so young. She's switched the position she was hiring me for, then switched it again.

I literally called the store when I was waiting to hear back about the position, and left my phone number with her. I told her that Olivia wasn't working right and I wasn't getting messages, and asked her to text me. She said yes, then continued using the online chat.

So 2 questions: How doomed to fail is my position? And how poorly does this all bode, for my time working there?

I feel like this may be doomed already.

Currently living in a hotel room, and would love y'all's thoughts on a plan of action going forward (please read full post?

So I'm currently living in a hotel room. I do gig work, but have not been active long enough for my income to be satisfactory for an apartment complex. I'm also waiting for an eviction that was called off, to leave my record. On top of that, I have a pit bull, and I need an offer letter *at the very least* before I'll be able to actually be considered for an apartment. And I'm pretty sure my credit score just dipped back into the 400s.

What I'm hoping will happen: The hotel I'm staying at, has on call people who live in the hotel. One of the people who does it, is apparently on the fence as to whether or not she's going to continue doing it. The on call shifts are at night, and they only keep 3 people on for it, at a time.

*If* you're one of the on call people, you don't have to pay for your room. So if I vould do this, it would mean: No rent, water, electric, gas, trash, sewage, or internet bill. They have rotating shifts, where some weeks you'll only be on call 2 days out of the week, and another it will be 3 days.

Either way, I'm going to be here for a while. Which is just so fun, when you consider I'm paying just under $400/ wk.

If I go to the apartment I initially wanted to go to, I'll need consistent pay stubs for the immediate past 3 months (6 months if a 1099). They accept poor credit scores, and I could bring my dog. This place would include all utilities except for internet and electric, in the rent.

But I'm starting to think that might not be the smartest way to go about this. I keep fantasizing abou6 doing something, and I'd like to hear y'all's thoughts on it, from a prepping standpoint. How logical, practical, and probable it may be.

I keep thinking of- when I have a steady job- buying some land, and getting a loan to have a tiny house *built* there. There's a company in my area, that builds a lot of the homes around here. But a couple years ago, one of their homes had something wrong with it, and it blew up taking 2 houses with it. So I definitely *do not* want to live in a house made by that company.

Thoughts on other ways to go? How do you feel about the hotel room for "free" v owning land, or anything else?

And yes, I am aware that the bank won't just give you a loan to go build a house. At the very least, I'm asking about a goal to work toward, from where I am now.

[REQ] ($200)-(#Pittsburgh, PA, USA)(Repay $300 by 7/31)(CashApp)

I do Shipt (like Instacart) full time, but this week has been brutal. It's been completely empty today, and not great earlier this week. On a normal week, I make about $850.

I'm currently living in a hotel room, while I look for an apartment (my dog is an aggressive breed). I'm paying weekly, and my next payment is due Sunday 6/14.

I've picked up a part-time job, to help ensure some income in case this happens again. But I'm about $200 short for this week's payment.

I habitually pay off anything like this, early. You'll likely have your $200 back within the next 2 weeks, with the other $100 coming in increments of $50 at some point in the weeks after that. I don't fuck around when it comes to paying people back. When someone is kind enough to help you with money problems, you don't take that for granted.

I just really need to have this before 5pm ET on 6/14.

Can anyone help?

Cops of Pittsburgh: Are the unmarked cars with police lights on the inside of the dashboard at all legitmate? If not, what should we do when "pulled over" by one?

I've only seen them 2 or 3 times, since I moved here in 2020. An otherwise unmarked all black car, with what looks like police lights on the inside of the dashboard.

Are these cars any kind of legit? What should we do when one tries to pull us over?
