Furioso longing

Furioso longing

Many of us did not receive the “Willy Wonka Golden Ticket” of A Little Big Book called Furioso.

I did write to Fantagraphics…and since they are also dealing with the “site clone fraud” issue, I suggest we DON’T all write them about this little book. 📕

Without revealing anything, they said they are working on “something to satisfy demand”… so let’s let them work with Jim.

This is mainly in case I started a fire storm of emails! They got back to me so quickly and so politely, that I feel like we owe them a break. Looking forward to what they report back.* *

Hollywood Bowl video

Not my video…

Today I have a bad track rate of posting things that have already been posted so hopefully this is not another one.

15 minutes of an atmospheric journey through the night. Really appreciate the person that did this.

WA Hollywood Bowl Program

Sadly, I was unable to attend any night of this event and I’m really looking forward to seeing more videos of it.

Is anyone interested in seeing all 56 (unnumbered) pages of this program? I will happily photograph them and add them across…say…four different posts.

I paid an absurd amount for the first copy that appeared on eBay, assuming that nothing else might come my way for awhile...and nothing has so far…unless someone has snatched them up rapidly. If you’re reading this, maybe you sold it to me: thank you!

Seeds of Sound: Aug 18, 1991 - Sampas Pavillion

I was doing some deep digging and organizing, and I found this! I am one of the performers on the list, but I will hide my identity for now. How cool that DATA BANK-A is the first one on the list though! I may have to post this in the industrial sub too.

I remember so many of these bands and these people so well. In the bottom left, it says “in case of rain the event will be canceled”… The event WAS canceled halfway through before I could perform. I was really looking forward to it as it was going to be the largest crowd I had ever performed for.

It was a very hot and humid day. We had all been in the sun all day and then slowly the clouds came in and once it started raining hard on us, the crowd went across the street to the ice cream shop and you could see steam rising off of everyone.

Were you there?… Did you perform?… Do you have memories or photographs?… Let me know. Cheers!

Published by Timeless Edition – 2027 – France

25 x 29 cm – around 200 pages – Hard cover with dust jacket.

English/French Bilingual Edition

Layout: Loulou Picasso

Originally published in 2018 and long sold out, this new edition has been extensively revised and significantly expanded. Alongside numerous corrections and improvements, it features a substantial amount of previously unpublished material, making it by far the most complete overview of Laurence Dupré’s remarkable work. The book traces Laurence Dupré’s pioneering career, from her DIY fashion fanzines of the late 1970s and early 1980s exploring camouflage patterns and military garments, to her collages for Sordide Sentimental, her meeting with Genesis P-Orridge in Hackney, and her design work for Throbbing Gristle’s legendary uniforms and visual identity.

Richly illustrated throughout, this revised edition features a new cover showcasing a new camouflage pattern by Laurence Dupré Final (final cover may differ), while retaining the original book design by Loulou Picasso from the Bazooka group. It also includes essays and contributions by Jean-Pierre Turmel (Sordide Sentimental), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Neville Brody, and Elli Medeiros, alongside a wealth of previously unpublished archival material, newly discovered photographs, and exclusive interviews prepared especially for this revised edition.

Also, you can spend $1236 on a pair of pants and a jacket which I am trying to figure out whether I should start working at a restaurant on the weekends just to get it paid for! $618 EACH!!! But it includes a special edition of the book…

I know Tony would scoff but it’s decent in a pinch

As a Negroni aficionado (because of Tony), I can say with certainty that I can make a better, fresh Negroni. But in a pinch this is OK. (I may or may not have released a decidedly un-masculine squeal when I discovered these.)

EMG (single spoiler image)

This should be appropriately blurred. Now we know why they called this version the EMG version.

Plasticity 12”

After years of searching, I have acquired the white label version to keep the cranberry label company. In each case $100 even. Such is the way of a collection. Now that really might be it. Unless they release a new album.

the art of the sixth sense (book by M Fish and D Hallbery)

Hopefully this is easy enough to zoom in and read on various devices. A very enjoyable and slim book. 130 pages including all front material and end discography and filmography.

  1. SAF (Serious Art Form) Publishing Ltd.

Mentions here of WS Burroughs, TG, Can, Mark E Smith, Stockhausen, Kraftwerk, Neu.

A small excerpt:

Artistically, paranoia is the condition that Richard Kirk inhabits most effectively. The paranoic state is not only one of suspicion, but of confusion and deception. Kirk's clipped imagery, whether in the form of a video, or as a backdrop to their live performance, can appear at first glance as a video jigsaw. On closer inspection of the early videos there seeps through a paranoic subconscious. Politics is bevelled from footage of oppression, sex from the neon pornographia of the Reeperbahn, and religion from self-doubt and fear.

You want Pups? There be Pups!

I’m going to start winding this down … because I think everyone knows how to watch things on eBay.

But it’s been fun letting people know about these toy sales. Feel free to keep posting if you want, but I think I’m the only one doing it …so I’m going to stop. Not even going to link to eBay. Huzzah!

Help me find “woke up…sued the papers”

I’ve tried everything I can to remember exactly which skit this is. I’m fairly sure it’s Michael Palin. All I can remember is that it is about somebody who is very litigious and there’s a line about all of the lawsuits that they get into each day and the only one I remember right now is, “woke up, read the papers, sued the papers”.

Google Gemini is giving me the Yorkshire man sketch which is hilarious but not the one I’m looking for.

Anyone remember what I might be thinking of?

June 12 Newsletter: 🐶 Santa already?

Shouldn’t that be Santa 🐶? Alas…

Behold! Welcome to the latest, long overdue Residents newsletter, direct from the shared desk of The Cryptic Corporation and New Ralph Too. The Residents are well, having resumed work on their new sure-to-be-a-masterpiece album following the recovery of one of their number, and as we speak are preparing to announce rescheduled ESKIMO tour dates - interested parties should keep an eye on all of the band's social media platforms, and of course residents.com for the new dates, details on tickets and so on, all of which will be shared with the wider world the moment everything is set in stone.

Rejoice! Meanwhile, The Residents are also preparing to formally announce the release of a brand new EP of 'Eskimo Folk Tales' to accompany the tour, featuring five brand new songs inspired by a collection of stories handed to them by their mentor The Mysterious N. Senada almost a decade ago. We're told a late September release date is planned - as ever, keep 'em peeled for details as they land via the Cherry Red and MVD websites, as well as your local independent record stockist if you're lucky enough to still have one. We're contractually obliged, of course, to tell you it's a fantastic record, but it really is. Not quite a new side of 'Eskimo' (although their second three-sided album would be kinda cool), but certainly a companion piece to the 1979 original, and must-hear stuff for anybody planning to go to one of the shows and desperate to fit in by knowing all of the words.

And as ever, the group are also deep into several other projects, both new and resurrected after the enforced layoff during the first half of this year. Stage shows, books, musicals (!?) and assorted collaborations are all being discussed, worked on, reworked, discussed again and so on - any long term Residents fan will know that's nothing new, but given the health concerns of the past six months we're sure you'll agree it's particularly good news right now.

And, as ever, rest assured you'll be the first to know as everything comes together and 2027 begins to plan itself. Oh, and they haven't forgotten the long promised Bandcamp site either.

But what with the recent 'Animal Lover pREServed' offering, the 'Randy, Chuck & Bob In The Studio' Record Store Day LP and this new 'Eskimo Folk Tales' thing, the group have been overly-conscious of desensitisation, fatigue and Rez-blindness among their millions of fans. But it'll happen soon, they assure us.

And that's just about that. All that remains is a gift for you, the patient reader. Some of you may be familiar with the work of Mr Ego Plum, and will be excited to know that he has been working with The Residents a lot recently, including co-producing the new 'Eskimo' EP. Well, back in 2023 he appeared at the band's 'Secret Show' in San Francisco, performing 'Santa Dog', and has kindly given us permission to hand out his demo recording of that performance - if all goes to
plan, you can find it right HERE. We think it's rather wonderful, and hope you'll enjoy it. And, of course, if you haven't already heard the live version and the rest of the 'Secret Show' album (and seen the film) you really ought to add it to your to do list.

Your pals,
New Ralph Too

Harold Tong, 16th Countdown Winner

My question to the community: why doesn’t Moss recognize Harold Tong (Prime). He excitedly names other Countdown winners when they go to the 8+ party HQ, “…theres Roger Black…”

What’s your in-universe continuity reason for Moss not knowing Prime?

Sometimes I think he just never watched the 16th season. And Harold does not seem offended to not be recognized. I know the real reason is likely: that’s the way the writers wrote it.

As the show goes on, they have more and more continuity callbacks to previous episodes …but often they just toss continuity away because that’s not where the joke is at.
