Bands that have melodic gutturals/false chords?

I'm not talking about having some clean parts or having clean singing layered with gutturals, I'm talking about bands that have songs where the gutturals themselves are melodic.

And not in a "they scream a low guttural and then screech" I'm talking like actual melodies that are sung with a guttural/false chord technique.

I know that some OSDM bands (specifically on Leprosy and Slowly we Rot) had vocalists that used their real voice at the same time that they were using gutturals, I was wondering if there are any bands that took this approach and were able to sing melodies and do gutturals at the same time.

Is the Tornado of Souls solo really that hard?

So I just had a dream where I was kicked out of a band and decided to play this song live (in the dream) out of spite because that's the first clean singing song with a complex solo that came to mind (for good reasons).

In the dream I made the decision to learn to sing and play at the same time, and also learn the solo.

For context I can alt pick but can't sweep yet. Is the solo going to really be hard to learn? I mean I'm going to learn it anyways there's no talking me down from it lol but like for expectations reasons is it really that hard?

It doesn't have that many fast bits. I am a rhythm player though so my soloing skills are kinda meh.

For context the most complex solo I can play is the Lack of Comprehension solo by Death at almost-album speed (still grinding to album speed). Is it going to be a hard solo for me to learn?

[Non Schizophrenic] Should I speak out about this?

So I made a post on Reddit where I was admittedly a bit drunk and talked about how I can predict the future of a game with dreams.
The post was a bit humorous I'll admit but there is still merit in that theory.
Anyways enough missing the forest for the trees.

Someone replied with a meme that basically says "a schizophrenic is talking listen and learn" basically implying "haha guys this sounds CraAaAAzY this dude must have the scary disorder amiright guys".

I know that these type of jokes can perpetuate stigma, I wanted to ask if you think that I should maybe speak out about this? Like, tell that person "not cool, psychosis isn't funny" or something like that. Or maybe this is a non-issue in your opinions, I don't know. I wanted to ask you.

THEORY: the next layer will have a theme of co op

Ok so so far Ultrakill has been pretty loyal to my dreams and hypnagogic experiences for example the violence layer was like very old nightmares to be and it was a very accurate recreation of nightmares I had in like 2008

And the Fraud layer reminded me of dreams that I've long forgotten so I'd say that my dreams are a good predictor of Ultrakill in general.

Okay so I've been having dreams about layer 9 and I think that these dreams can predict the future.
In one of my dreams the layer started with a new powerup. The new power up gave you the ability to summon enemies that would fight alongside you.

An earlier dream I've had was where layer 9 began with v1 meeting Gabriel in an abandoned castle and then Gabriel asks v1 to work together to defeat the common enemy and v1 agreed. The dream then turned to FNV which could be a sign that Gabriel is transgender.

Regardless, the theme of co-op shows very often so I think that this means that this theme will show up in layer 9

And it will be fitting to the layer because this will be the TREACHERY layer

And if an angel works alongside a human-made object to destroy hell? Well that sounds like treason against God to me. And it'd fit where we left Gabriel in the last cutscene with the campfire. All in all I think that not only will this shake up the gameplay but it will also be fitting thematically.

What do you guys think? Have you also had dreams of Ultrakill? I'd love to hear them. There is a lot of truths in dreams for those that are brave enough to listen.

Standard tuning vs drop tuning: One of the biggest divides in metal

I've noticed that one of the biggest "divides" in metal is between stuff like NWOBH, thrash, death, melodeath, black, doom and stuff like nu metal, metalcore, deathcore (the latter being genres that some metalheads argue are not metal)

Some people say it is a generation divide but I don't think so.
Both nu metal and black metal became popular in the 90's (yes I know this is not when they were invented this is just where they became popular) but black metal is more accepted by the NWOBH thrash death camp whereas nu metal traditionally isn't.

You could say that it is an influence thing, but melodeath is mostly accepted by that same camp whereas metalcore usually isn't, even though metalcore is heavily inspired (to the point where it borders on ripping off in my opinion) by melodeath bands, particularly At the Gates.

You could say it is a solo thing, but black metal doesn't really have a lot of solos.

You could say it is a low-tuning thing but death metal has some pretty low tuning, new Cannibal Corpse stuff is in G standard IIRC, and Morbid Angel used 7 string guitars.

However, I found that the divide is not really based on how low the tunings are, but rather on the type of tunings. Standard vs Dropped.

FOR NON GUITARISTS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Standard tuning is the most common tuning in guitars. In this tuning, the lowest 4 strings (in 6 string guitars) are all tuned a perfect fourth or 5 semitones higher than the lower one, and the 5th highest string is only tuned a perfect third or 4 semitones (the string that is higher than that is tuned a perfect fourth).
This is a very symmetrical tuning, IE you can move a riff up a string and it would still have the same relative pitch but in a different key. This tuning requires 2 fingers to play a power chord (unless you are playing a power chord with the open strings). Requires an additional finger if you want to play a power chord with the added octave.
In drop tuning, however, the lowest string is downtuned 2 semitones down, meaning it is a perfect fifth lower than the next string. This means that you can play power chords on the lowest string with just 1 finger, even if you add the octave note. This does however mean you lose the symmetry.
Keep in mind that drop tunings aren't inherently lower than standard tunings. C standard is a lower tuning than drop D.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You see, a LOT of metal is riffing on the lower string. I'd even say this is what most of metal is. And when you go to drop tuning instead of standard tuning, it fundamentally changes the way you can phrase on the lower strings. Good luck trying to play the Master of Puppets refrain riff on drop tunings.

Because this changes the way you can phrase riffs, I have found that this changes the musical direction that you take with this music. I have found (in my opinion) that even though death metal and deathcore might share some surface level sonic similarities, when you actually listen to how each genre writes riffs they are drastically different genres.

NWOBH, thrash metal, death metal, doom metal, black metal, melodeath, power metal all traditionally use standard tunings for their songs (yes, I know there are some exceptions but this is the case for the majority of bands in these genres).

Nu metal, metalcore, deathcore, alt metal, traditionally use drop tunings (again I know there are exceptions).

Even though both clusters of genres have surface level similar sounds, they are written very very differently.

I find that this phrasing difference is the main thing separating these clusters of genres in the community. (Yes you can be a fan of both but I have noticed that a lot of metal fans kind of stick to one cluster)

Do you think I am onto something?
Also what cluster of genres you prefer?
Personally I prefer the standard tuning cluster.

Do you think that OCD might be related to schizospectrum disorders?

Essentially OCD can cause symptoms that are like the "lite" versions of schizophrenia symptoms.
Magical thinking, ideas of reference (it is the "lite" version of delusions of reference), quasi hallucinations as opposed to the more "traditional" hallucinations of schizophrenia.

It is not a fully psychotic disorder because the person with OCD has self awareness and is questioning, but a lot of the symptoms are resembling.

Do you think that maybe OCD could be like at the very low end of the schizospectrum and schizophrenia/schizoaffective at the very high end?

Do you think that OCD was behind a lot of superstitious beliefs?

I'm talking more specifically about the "do/don't do [extremely random thing] or something bad will happen".

Like "walk on a crack and your mother will break her back"

Is it sexist to call women "chicks"?

I always found it uncomfortable when people call women "chicks" because it feels infantilizing to me but I don't know if I am right in that or not.

Am I right about it? Am I not? If I hear someone say that would it be okay to say something about it?

Anyone else disgusted by the term "dating market"?

Around a month or so ago I learned about "demiromantic" and after thinking about it for a while it explains a lot about me lol.

One of the things that it explains is why I despise the term "dating market". It feels extremely dehumanizing to me. When I think of this term it gives the impression that we are all empty sacks of meat that have to "compete" with other empty sacks of meat in order to "win" a relationship with an empty sack of meat that has a high enough "value".

It just feels wrong. Humans aren't a commodity, John Brown made sure of that.

There's also an implication in this term that we are all part of this "ritual" even if we don't want to. Like everyone else is entitled to make assumptions about our "value" in the market and it feels like an invasion of my privacy.

And the thing is that people pretend that this is just a normal part of life. At least with hookups there is no pretending that this is about love. Hookups are honest that they're about nothing but pleasure and I can kinda respect this honesty. But the term "dating market" wants to have the shallowness of hookups while dishonestly pretending that it is about love instead.

I have more respect for people who have emotionless hookups and are honest about it than people who use the term "dating market" and pretend that they care about actual deep relationships, because at least the hookups aren't deceiving and you don't expect actual intimacy from them.

I guess this is why I have never and will never use dating apps because they are this term but on steroids. I might make a separate post about them in the future.

And don't even get me started on the term "dating strategy". As if humans are no more than "tests" that you can "solve" with the right strategy. Ugh.

The structure of this post might be kinda fucky and all over the place but I don't care to be honest.

Honestly Nikki is the only one of the main characters that isn't kind of an asshole or worse

Don't get me wrong Bear is fucking vile. Like I'd argue he's a straight up rapist.
However the rest of the main characters (Nikki excluded, she literally didn't do anything wrong, her actions while under the wish don't count because it wasn't the real her) were also kind of shitheads not going to lie.

For starters Sarah. She saw that her friend is probably undergoing an extreme mental health breakdown and that her other friend is suddenly in a relationship with her mentally unstable friend. She even sees Nikki smash her face with a bottle at the party. And what does she do? Does she try to talk to Nikki or call mental health services? No, SHE TRIES TO FUCK HER BOYFRIEND. Like genuinely. What is her thought process. Also in the car, she is telling Bear that she thinks that Nikki is the one exploiting him. EXCUSE ME? Like think about it without the wish. Do you know how dangerous that would be? To tell someone taking advantage of someone else that actually it's him who is being taken advantage of?

Now let's talk about Ian. Ian knows that Bear has a crush on Nikki, but he doesn't tell Bear that they have been hooking up for years. Instead he leads him on, tries to give him advice that will backfire ("call her freaky Nikki") and tries to cowardly make sure that they are alone when he confesses so that when she rejects him it wouldn't be awkward for him because he'd get exposed for sleeping with her for years.

Now let's talk about his actions. Let's go to the scene where he gets the wish true and wins a billion dollars. Before he makes that wish, he sees that his friend is under extreme stress. His face is bloodied, and he knows that his relationship has been extreme. He knows that even if he doesn't believe that the wish is true, it at least means a lot to his friend. And he fucking stabs him in the back and throws the wish away. Like even if he didn't know that the wish was true, this is still a shitty thing to do to a friend that is clearly going through a lot. But get this. After he gets the billion dollars, he realizes that THE WISHES WORK. Meaning that what his friend told him about the wish affecting Nikki is correct. And what does he do next?

Instead of being extremely concerned for his friends' safety, he just comes to Bears house and says "dude I got like a billion dollars" DID HE FORGET ABOUT THE FACT THAT HIS GIRLFRIEND IS LITERALLY UNDER A CURSE? And he literally hears her shouting and arguing with him and he doesn't like call the police or act concerned or something. JFC.

I'd argue that morally speaking, Bear is by far the worst character (even worse than fake Nikkie), but the other main characters aren't really good either. Except for real Nikkie. She never did anything wrong. She and the cat are the only 2 characters I felt bad for.
