why does destructive behaviour feel intimate/close? how did you stop thinking this way?

i know this is very toxic and i don’t want to have this view point. i’m talking like i can rather trust a hurtful person than a non hurtful person because it’s predictable ig and real and feels close. i do not and have not involved myself in this but i’m afraid in the future i might, how did you stop that? thinking that way?

Goodfellas is a great addition to the genre, from filmmaking choices, to structure and storytelling.

it has a unique and interesting concept that tells the story well, full of irony that also works well; funny how?

all of this leads to serious themes that gets covered in the film, in spite of the contrast. it’s a clever artistic approach that just works when you truly understand what the film does.

i think this is one of the fewer films that makes you actually understand, how one can fall into a life of crime and see the characters realize it as well,, poverty and abuse pushes towards crime and seems normal under the wrong influences; jimmy and henry became victim to this cycle that we know, the film captures jimmy’s level of insanity and henry’s disillusionment while effecting people in his inner life. it’s interesting/comedic yet it doesn’t take itself too lightly and gives room for audiences to realize and see the corruption.

fredo’s fishing

there’s an observation from somewhere (can’t seem to remember) about fredo and fishing that was interesting:

fredo told anthony that he was the only one who could catch a fish. so out everyone, including michael and sonny he was the only one that was able to do something during this moment. fishing is special to fredo because it’s the one time he doesn’t feel less than (he’s smaarrt not like everyone says like dumb! and he probably got resPECT!) anyways that was a perfect last activity execution for him.

i’m not sure if either fredo or michael intentionally chose that moment. if michael chose that he’s a certified lousy sentimental-hearted sociopath

Vito could’ve prevented so much

first i want to say these are all plot points that make the film work anyway. just an observation.

the first and foremost is leading his children to a life of crime, not fully succeeding in legitimacy which the rest especially michael had to do.

next is about sonny and fredo, sonny is naturally upfront and hotheaded, he should’ve been taught to control his temper and fredo should’ve been taught that he has to be tough for himself; that was vito’s responsibilities.

third is allowing carlo marrying connie. for someone that cares about values and respect and has foresight he forbade connie from marrying him then changed his mind, he’s also emotionally intelligent so it’s kind of surprising he didn’t try to reason with her, or tell him no (which seems like he doesn’t want to lose her) then again it’s not that surprising. could’ve been prevented, as carlo wouldn’t have been led on to believe he would be part of the family.

the thing is yes vito is a mobster but he had almost all the real values and was a family man but his children could not do better than him and half of that leads back to him which is ironic and the other half would be their choices ofc,,

obviously these problems are for the plot, and themes. just a observation perhaps.

also to refuse the drug deal he should’ve prepared for protection/war.

but what’s the point of that it is indeed a mafia tragedy

stop telling strangers your friend likes you.

it’s not funny. your friend doesn’t like it, the stranger is confused.

and it’s crossing boundaries, if a friend tells you to stop ridiculing them you should stop. this is hs behaviour it was not nice then its especially not nice now, thankfully people become aware but it’s just not nice. at a certain point it can feel malicious. (note: if you’re someone that has told your friend countless times to stop even if you’re laughing, be stern and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself (easier said than done i know: but it’ll do less harm than continuing it) otherwise you’re letting this happen.)

idk if it’s a contro opinion, a lot of people for some reason think it’s funny it’s just not.

what storylines of danny would you wanted to have in the show?

jesse got to have more character writing than anyone on the show, you’d assume danny was the main character but they didn’t give extensive storylines to him. so what writing would’ve worked to include in the show, that would’ve been interesting for danny’s character development?

Kay’s confrontation

when she tells him “it wasn’t a miscarriage, it was an abortion.” and “identifies” the gender,

it’s plausible to say she did actually have a miscarriage.

tom said they couldn’t tell at 4 3 and half weeks months, when Michael asked.

i think when she heard michael trying to talk to her in the scene like he did at the end of the first film, she became increasingly impatient and angry as she became aware as we see it, then lied, saying it was an abortion; 1. to protest her disillusionment and betrayal she endured- back at him, and 2. for him to hate her enough to allow her to leave, because nothing else would work. that was her last chance and resort.

i do not think she actually had an abortion, she said it to get out.

because how would she have even gotten the abortion if she was being watched, and any self induced “accident” would result in having to go to the hospital anyway

r/Godfather is not the subreddit for sh!tposting. r/GFcannoliposting is.

post them at r/GFcannoliposting

i have no control for that subreddit but it’s been there a while and dedicated for that purpose, while this subreddit isn’t and should rely on relevant posts.
the good thing is the posts have dialed down.

so if you’re thinking of making such posts, choose the correct subreddit.

thanks.

Gavin

i always thought he was a good addition to the show (except for his introduction) and thought he and rachel could’ve been serious, rachel has never had a relationship like with gavin.

one thing that makes michael interesting is the divided opinions of his character

you could argue his character was turned into a mobster or that he was deceivingly one already behind the war hero label.

what if an evil villain had power for peace but they’re an evil villain because they want peace no matter what. interesting concept

movie ideas

maybe a horror film? sci fi? idk, but a person (main character) gains power, evil power kind of, the mc wants peace so they use their power to make everything peaceful but it becomes an evil kind of power because while everything is peaceful it’s not everyone’s free choice. why i thought of this? i had a wish that i wish that everything could always be peaceful for everyone then i thought it has to be their own choice, then i thought what if an evil villain had power for peace but they’re an evil villain because they want peace no matter what. interesting concept
