Harmonic: how do I play this? Is there any alternative?

Harmonic: how do I play this? Is there any alternative?

Albéniz “Mallorca.” Do I fret the F, then do artificial (fretted) harmonic around XIII?

Is there any way to achieve this on an open string anywhere on the fretboard?

Ideally but not required, the open-string harmonic if possible would be on the A 5 string.

Had my first and sorta liked it 😂 My natto is made from soy beans. Is some made with actual “natto beans?”

Had mine with Trader Joe’s Furikake sprinkles and Kikkoman low-salt soy sauce. Was prepared for worse lol. It was okay to me :) Pardon the spoon I kno, I kno ha!

(Oh my first packs were frozen.)

Convert PDF to MuseScore (free version) can I pay for a conversion but not a subscription?

System: Win7Pro old machine I kno :)
MuseScore 3

I can see “import PDF” in menu pulldown in my free MuseScore 3 (I’m on desktop). That takes me to website where I select a price (one higher, one lower). How do I execute a conversion but *avoid* getting a subscription to MuseScore in my credit card?

Also can I convert a multipage PDF or do I need to break it up?

This one is just 3 pages, but I plan to do more and longer ones.

Friendly reminder: do not get overtired! (nt)

The days of pushing yourself are over. Never mind an all-nighter. Don’t do it!

I did and I’m in distress 😢

New Natto Pilgrim!

Read about cardiovascular benefits. Found a great Japanese market near me and looked at their 3 brands (and ingredients). They only had frozen. This one had the least amount of additives and sweeteners.

Do I just eat a spoonful straight-up? Maybe a little soy sauce? I can’t do siracha 🔥 at this time, but I can eat organic spicy mustard!

For benefits, how many times per week is acceptable for eating? Without overdoing it :) Thanks!

Edit: does it help relieve constipation?

Trouble in paradise: Classical guitarist learning jazz chords: pinky bar

I’m have trouble fretting the high e with pinky mini-bar, which covers e and b. Pointers welcome.

Cordoba Fusion nylon string.

Classical: D string, 2nd fret raspy buzzy tone

My rescue guitar! Final touches. I put LaBella 2001 med tension strings on it. The tone is so rich (guitar has no label; my $160 labor of intensive DIY love).

When I play down by the nut for example a basic Am chord my D 4 string is raspy on the second fret. No other fret. I filled and filed the nut, checked clearances, made a new saddle.

The funny thing is that if I lay it in my work table and press the string with my thumb it doesn’t sound buzzy. Also if I do Am chord I notice that it doesn’t like being fretted right smack at midway point between the frets. (As shown in pic.)

Yet with some chords that were the finger lands. The buzz goes away if I just play that E note on string (4) right at the 2nd fret and press harder.

Please help me solve this last gremlin at the end of a long renovation project. This guitar is so light and warm and sounds so deep — it just calls for me to pick it up and play. Thank you!

Guitar: What would be the best was to do this, but with treble staff with notes on staff above or below the chord diagrams?

It’s a chord lesson with just diagrams of the chords on fretboard.

For guitar, I also want to show the actual notes on staff that go with each of these chords, so it’s all travel clef (with extra staff lines above as needed for high notes).

The staff with corresponding notes could be above or below the diagrams. Thanks!

MS3 on old computer. I am just learning MuseScore.

FTD: what’s better than NGD Day lol? First Tele Day!

An Anniversary gift from my wife!!! ❤️ Brand new!

Thanks to all here who to helped me choose an American Professional II Tele in Butterscotch Blonde with Maple Fingerboard.

As suggested I went and tried guitars, and bonded instantly with this one. Also the grain is straight in the neck, fine in the body, and the fretboard and fret height are just right! Neck finish feels excellent!

Also the tuners feel good, and the bridge is low-profile. Truss rod adjustment at the headstock. These are all features that members here brought to my attention.

Roasted pine feels great in terms of weight and balance!

As mentioned I’ve been playing classical for decades and still had a teacher. I changed teachers to one who has an emphasis on writing and fretboard/chord knowledge, spiced with theory and a bit of jazz!

Excited! Again, thanks to all.

What telecaster fits my preferences. Here they are…

I’m looking a model that has great build quality, and comes standard with the following:

  1. Maple neck must have.
  2. Translucent finish to show some grain
  3. Locking tuners
  4. Lower profile bridge (I could change this)
  5. No mega jumbo frets (?not sure of terms)
  6. Quality pickups
  7. No painted headstock.

**Most important is high quality build**

I suppose that the bridge is flexible item as I could replace that I have good shop skills.

I see beauties such as Telebration Anniversary Flame (pictured) that I could afford but I don’t require bling. I’m steel toe boots and hard hat. Yet if bling version has better build quality, I’m open to it all. I do like quality.

Butterscotch color is fine too.

Otherwise a Tele that is made with great craftsmanship and looks down-to-earth is fine with me.

I just want the good stuff. I’ve got $1,980 exactly saved up but I’m frugal and know the dollar of a dollar. There may be no reason to spend it all if so even better. Used great condition is fine by me. So is new ha!

Thanks.

Looking for a 12-fret lightweight and resonant

Budget $1900 but hopefully less as I want the bet rich tone for the buck. I want tone more than fancy bling. Will shop used market but open to new.

HUM: Narrowed down my finger style jazz Tele to this American Hum

Been searching for models with Humbucker in neck. This is an American “HUM.”

The one near me is a 2021 with the plastic still on it. The guy died. It has a big hard case, very retro looking. $900 mint with the case.

Since it’s so new, American, should I expect work being done on the frets? I read that some recent models need it.

Any other things to expect or consider? It will be my first Tele. Coming from hollowbody Jazz land.

AM Elite PuP prob? I’m leaning toward Fender American Elite Telecaster USA — what is the neck pickup issue in reviews?

I’m liking the American Elite for my first Telecaster. Reviews mention problem with neck pickup perhaps cutting out, although I don’t fully understand the issue or cause. People seem to love the playability and sound, but some in electronics gets reports of being glitchy.

Please help me find out if this is true, and what the problem is, and if there is one, the fix if needed?

I will play primarily with neck PuP so that caught my attention.

Bonus points hehe: where is the truss rod adjustment? I’m totally new to Teles.

How can I find if a used Tele for sale is stolen, in the US?

Is there a way to lookup serial numbers for examples? Or check with police department?

Or documentation to request so that I don’t get charges for accepting stolen property?

Looking at a mint Reverend Eastsider S Pete Anderson Guitar. How is quality?

I’m asking first bc I have to drive 2 hours to see it.

How is the quality?

Also, can I get a warm tone out of a Reverend Eastsider S Pete Anderson Guitar? I ask bc "the Eastsider S is loaded with Reverend’s Talnico bridge and Salnico middle and neck pickups."

I know that I like Fender single-coil neck tone.

If in the future I wanted to, how much would it cost if wanted the neck pickup to be OG Fender Single Coil? I have excellent soldering skills but new to this.

I play fingerstyle and want a compound radius neck. Also I almost use use neck PuP for warm tones, perhaps flat round or semi flat strings like Chromes.

Also, is $800 LNIB with hard case a good price?

I like the 10"-14" compound radius bc Im coming from classical / nylon fusion for decades. So I play fngerstyle all the way. We play flat planks lol

What hardware options are must haves to you, if any?

I’m new here and shopping hard. Coming from acoustic land so I don’t know the options. I studied classical for a couple decades and still have a coach.

Altho I’m new, I do like quality in an instrument. I need help understanding what options make a difference bc I’m thrifty yet I have the resources to get something nice. As we all do - I want the best bang for the buck - yet I want quality.

I see various options for hardware like locking tuners, nut material, and even bridge/saddles. For Fender-made options, what do you prefer or require?

It’s like that I’m seeing some aftermarket add-ons but for this post I just want to stick with “good things to have when you shop for a stock Tele.”

About the bridges/saddles for intonation: I see rounded ones, most models that I’ve seen had 2 strings per rounded saddle, and others that look more solid. Some have individual adjustments for each string.

What options make a difference to you, and are any that must-have that you require — or deal-breaker that you avoid when buying?

Most importantly I’m asking about the tuners and bridge/saddles. If some are better please let know what to look for.

For my acoustics and classical I have come to respect Japanese craftsmanship. Do MIJ Teles use the exact same hardware (it generally looks the same) or is some hardware actually made in Japan and better quality?

One guitar description even said that it had Japanese single-coil pickups.

Do you have a Tele that came with what you like? Much music has been made with the Standard so clearly that all a person needs — but is there a model that comes with the better stuff while not breaking the bank?

Edit: I will add one that I only learned today: I do not want a “set neck,” instead I want a bolt-on neck.

Mineral oil okay on fretboard with lots of inlays. Epiphone Shearton

Is it okay to use mineral oil on this fretboard that has lots of inlays?

If you want to know the rest of the story:
This Epiphone Shearton II Korea has been sitting in hard case in my inner closet for a decade.

The fretboard (Rosewood perhaps) appears to be very dry. I’m getting it ready for string change and want to give the fretboard some love.

I have pure mineral oil and clean white cotton rag and plan to lightly oil the fretboard after I polish the frets.

Is there a table that compares electric guitar strings tensions?

I just learned that some smaller diameter D’Addario strings have more total tension per set than the next slightly bigger string.

For example, is there .11 - .46 set that is somehow lower tension perhaps due to the string’s material?

I was wondering if anyone compiled the tables into a spreadsheet?

Lastly, do flatwound strings, due to their different winding, tend to have lower or higher tendons than equivalent regular strings?

Thanks!

Strings for fingerstyle mellow jazz on Shearton II?

I play fingerstyle mellow solo jazz and like warm yet clear tone.

Also I am also doing songwriting in long stretches. My hands are high mileage and can’t do marathon writing sessions on acoustic or even nylon fusion.

This used Epiphone Shearton came with heavy strings I measured them with digital calipers include strings stub at tuner pot.

They are 0.25 - 1.12mm (!)

Lightweights: what are the light Telecasters?

I’m open to all body styles. Well maybe not Alexiev’s lol

What’s your fav?

Does it have the f-hole?

Or does it look like a solid body?

Looking to lighten the load for marathon songwriting sessions.

My current axe is an Epiphone Shearton II Korea.
