Nishkam karma of hanuman in sundarakanda

In Sundara Kandam, Hanuman teaches us the true essence of Nishkaam Karma. He crossed the vast ocean, faced fierce challenges, searched every corner of Lanka, and delivered Rama’s message — not for praise, power, or personal gain, but purely out of devotion and duty.

No desire for reward. No attachment to results. Only pure, selfless service. That is the power of Nishkaam Karma — action performed with complete surrender and love.May Hanumanji’s example inspire us to act without expectation and serve with pure hearts.

The immortal nature of the Atman (soul) and the forgetfulness of past lives are addressed in Vedic philosophy through the distinction between the soul and the mind

तेनावसृष्टः सहसा कृच्छ्रेण निरवाक्शिराः ।

विनिष्क्रामति निश्वासो हतस्मृतिस्तथातुरः ॥ २३ ॥

Srimad Bhagavatam (Canto 3, Chapter 31, Verse 23)

The Trauma of Birth (Garbha-duḥkha): In the Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Kapila explains to his mother Devahuti that while in the womb, the jiva (soul) retains consciousness and memory of previous lives. However, the extreme physical trauma of labor, combined with the veil of Maya (delusive energy), causes severe shock to the mind. This intense agony wipes out active memory (Hata-smṛti) of past births at the precise moment of emergence from the womb.

The Moment of Death and Rebirth

When the enemy Chandavega (Time) and Kala-kanya (Old Age) attack the city, Puranjana is forced to leave his body. At the moment of death, instead of remembering his true nature or his eternal friend Avijnata, his mind is obsessively focused on his wife and his attachments.

we should have more shraddha on our scriptures

श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानं तत्परः संयतेन्द्रियः । ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा परां शान्तिमचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥

Śraddhāvān labhate jñānaṁ tat-paraḥ saṁyatendriyaḥ jñānaṁ labdhvā parāṁ śāntim achireṇādhigacchati. “

The one endowed with shraddha attains knowledge; disciplined and devoted, they attain inner truth and peace.” — Bhagavad Gita 4.39

if shraddha against shastra that is called as andha sraddha keep this in mind

The Vedas are apaurusheya, not ordinary human compositions.

Dharma is not merely a social construct but a cosmic principle.

Shri Ram and Shri Krishna are not merely “possibly historical kings later exaggerated by folklore,” but avatars within the Hindu sacred framework.

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are not merely mythological epics or political literature, but Itihasa, sacred civilizational memory carrying spiritual, ethical, and metaphysical truth. Concepts like karma, moksha, rebirth, avatara, cosmic cycles, and divine revelation are not merely symbolic abstractions in orthodox Hindu thought.

The authority of guru shishya parampara cannot simply be replaced by modern academic consensus.

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are Itihasa, “thus indeed it happened.” Whether one interprets every event literally, symbolically, spiritually, or cosmologically, within the Hindu framework these texts were never meant to be dismissed as mere fantasy literature.

History can study a tradition externally. But a civilization ultimately survives through the truths it holds internally sacred. That is why Hindu intellectual traditions historically placed acharyas, rishis, and sampradayas at the center of interpretation. Not because reason was rejected, but because reason itself was anchored within a sacred worldview rather than detached from it entirely.

Namaste everyone,
It's free I am passionate about learning sanatan that's it

I’m hosting an online discussion session on Sādhaka-Saṅjīvanī (साधक-संजीवनी), the beautiful and practical commentary on the Bhagavad Gita by Param Pujya Swami Ramsukhdasji Maharaj (Gita Press).

Today we are beginning Chapter 2 – Sāṅkhya Yoga.Details:

This commentary is especially helpful for sādhakas — it is clear, direct, and focused on practical application in daily life rather than just intellectual discussion. Chapter 2 is foundational, covering discrimination between the real and the unreal, the nature of the Self, and the spirit of karma yoga.

Everyone is welcome — whether you have already studied the Gita, are reading Sadhaka Sanjeevini for the first time, or simply feel drawn to reflect on these teachings together.Looking forward to sitting together and reflecting on these timeless teachings.

Two Styles of Spiritual Practice ( from sadhaka sanjeevini)

In a living being, there is an aspect of conscious Divinity (God/Supreme Soul) and an aspect of insentient nature (matter).

When the conscious aspect predominates, the soul desires God; and when the insentient aspect predominates, it desires the worldly realm. Of these two desires, the desire for God is bound to be fulfilled, but the desire for the worldly realm is never truly fulfilled. Even when a few worldly desires appear to be fulfilled, in reality, they do not bring an end to desire; instead, new desires keep emerging due to attachment to the world.

In truth, the fulfillment of worldly desires—that is, the attainment of worldly objects—is not dependent on desire itself, but on past actions (karma). However, attaining God is not dependent on action (karma). God is realized simply through one's own intense yearning.

The reason for this is that every action has a beginning and an end; therefore, its fruit must also have a beginning and an end. So how can the beginningless and endless Supreme Soul be attained through actions that have a beginning and an end?

Yet, spiritual seekers often assume that just as worldly objects are attained through the predominance of actions, God will also be attained through the predominance of actions. They believe that just as one must rely on the body, senses, mind, and intellect to gain worldly objects, they must similarly rely on the body, senses, mind, and intellect to attain God. Therefore, such practitioners move toward God by practicing with the help of material matter (the body and mind).

Crossing the hundred Yojana wide ocean in one jump whatis meant by this?

दुष्करं निष्प्रतिद्वंद्वं ; a difficult and incomparable task; Hanuman in search of Sita resolved to undertake a difficult and incomparable task. That incomparable task is crossing the hundred Yojana wide ocean. Crossing the hundred Yojana wide ocean in one jump is indeed a difficult task. It echoes the thought of crossing the ocean of Samsara, overcoming all obstacles, which too is difficult a task.

गवां पतिः इवाबभौ
A bull personifies one who bulldozes his way ahead in the face of obstacles. Valmiki is saying, so will Hanuman, who started on this search with the blessings of Rama. So will anybody who has the blessings of the Supreme being
