bf (21) broke a sentimental plate and is now hinting a breakup bc of my (18) autism?

today, my boyfriend came over and wanted to use a plate that my late father bought me for the last birthday i had with him. it was expensive and sentimental and i told him if he was going to use it to be careful. he smashed it and i was obviously upset but didn’t blame him. he went home a little while later and just sent me this. i can’t even tell if he’s joking or if i did something wrong. i’m so upset about the plate and this just added to it. he hasn’t answered me for two hours. was this him breaking up with me or what? did i do something wrong ?!

What is the gain from stealing instagram accounts?

Hi all,

This might seem like an air-headed post to most (sorry), but I am genuinely so confused about a scam going around in my area.

A hacker gets into someone’s account and messages their friends asking to send them a link to get into the other account. However, i don’t understand the benefit hackers get from logging into other accounts to do the exact same thing? Is it for the phone numbers and emails? Or is there more to it?

Travelling on my own next week - anxious.

Hi, everyone.

I’m 18F and from London. I am getting a plane to California (LA) next week to visit a friend, but I am a little nervous.

I’ve never flown on my own before, and I’m wondering how it’s going to go.

On top of this, I take prescribed amphetamines for ADHD. I’m not sure if I have to declare these as google keeps giving me different answers. Does anyone have any advice for a young, solo traveller?

Thank you!

Should I stop drinking soda cold-turkey?

I am not overweight, but looking to lose weight. I have had an addiction to soda for a few years now. I honestly drink about 1-2 bottles a day of either coke, pepsi, mountain dew or dr pepper. I really hate myself for it because i know it’s so bad for me but i genuinely feel stressed or depressed if i don’t drink it. I’ve switched from full fat sodas to zeros, but I know that drinks like coke zero still have a correlation with weight gain (and tooth decay which i have a huge fear of). If I quit soda today, would it help me with my weight loss? I’ve heard it can give you a flatter stomach but I’m not sure if that’s true.

Boyfriend (23M) just sent me (19F) this out of nowhere. What am I supposed to say?

My boyfriend just messaged me at 10pm at night with the following:

“i'm sorry, [my name]. I love you so
much and i always will but i can't help feeling scared. i've felt out of your league since i met you and all of my friends talk about how hot you are. i think something is wrong because i don't understand why you'd be with me when you can be with someone so much more attractive. it makes me think something else is going on and i don’t want to live in constant fear. i've been thinking of doing this since before the pregnancy scare but i wanted to leave it until after we'd both calmed down from the panic. i'm sorry.”

I would NEVER cheat and would never want to. I genuinely think I am in love with him and I’m so upset right now. Is this our relationship over?

Did anyone else feel personally spoken to in Spiderman: Brand New Day?

No spoilers in this post as I know it’s still very new so I won’t go into detail, but did anyone else (if you have watched it) want to absolutely sob because they felt so seen?

What do i do when a security guard took my license because he believed it was fake/wasn’t me?

I’m 18. I went to a club for my friend’s birthday and used my driver’s license as my ID. It’s a provisional because I don’t drive, and I’ve had it since I was 15 so the picture is a little bit old. It doesn’t need to be renewed until I’m 25, so I’ve still got a long way to go using that license. The security guard was scrutinising it, scratching it, analysing the fuck out of it before staring me up and down and then laughed. He said nice try and pointed to the exit, pocketing my license. I spoke to other security guards and they said they’d look into it but they have a right to seize IDs if they believe they are fake. I was tired and had had a drink so I went home. It’s the next day, and now I’m sober - WTAF! What do I do?

My glasses are making me feel like I’m trippin

I’ve started wearing my glasses today and WOW. I am so confused! I know it takes time for your eyes to adjust to your prescription, but I feel like I’ve put on those glasses from the board game that makes you draw funny. I keep thinking flat surfaces are sloped, and literally set a full glass down on its edge, spilling it. Also, mid walk I’d randomly feel 10ft tall because of how weird the ground looked. I literally feel drunk wearing them. How long does this last !

I’m working with kids in North Carolina as a Brit. What should I expect?

I’m an 18 year-old student from London. I’m going to primarily be working with teens slightly younger than me and some children. I’m going to be working at a camp in North Carolina. I’m wondering what I should look out for or expect?

My American friend has already pre-warned me that they’re going to make fun of my accent as I have an accent very similar to Cockney, but I have already accepted that, lol.

I keep ‘leading people on’

Currently crying my eyes out because my whole school has gone against me for ‘leading on’ a guy. I’m going to call him Max in this situation.

Max randomly DMd me in April and asked to hang out, we did, it was literally normal. He asked me all the time to meet up after that and I said no to every single hang out because I didn’t really know him that well and we didn’t really have a lot in common. He asked me to a party and I said yes.

We were playing spin the bottle and everyone was kissing everyone. No guy would kiss me when it landed on me because Max had told them we were dating (i found this out afterwards). When it landed on Max i kissed him in the way you’d kiss your mom 😭 but he was attempting to french kiss me and I pulled away.

He repeatedly messaged me good morning/night messages and it was annoying me a bit because, not to be mean, I don’t know him! It is really frustrating having someone you hardly know messaging you constantly. Anyway, I told him I was going on a date so I couldn’t hang out and BAM - never messaged again.

Then, at prom, he went around telling people I led him on etc. I am annoyed by this because I don’t and NEVER did have any interest in him. If someone asked if we were friends I would’ve said ‘kind of’.

I messaged him explaining that he must’ve gotten the wrong idea and I’m sorry and happy to stay friends and he replied with ‘I don’t think we can be friends’.

It also just feels like the second he couldn’t have anything sexual/romantic with me I was binned like fucking trash. This has happened before. I’m not sure what to do I just feel like a horrid person.

Favourite facts about ancient Egypt?

I think ancient Egypt is my one of my favourite parts of history.

I am wondering what people’s favourite facts about Ancient Egypt are?

One of my favourite facts is that many ancient Egyptians referred to their cats as ‘miu’, meaning ‘he or she who mews’.

Is the age gap I have with my boyfriend bad?

My boyfriend is M23 and I am F18. We have been dating for about a month now and it’s been going well. We met in person at a crossing and asked if I wanted to get a beer, in which we did. At first, he was quite concerned about the age gap and we were both upset because we got on so well. Before asking to be my boyfriend he even met my mum to ask if she was okay with it. She didn’t like when I first told her I was dating someone that age, however, she believes he was very respectful and prepared to take things slow with me. I believe I’m mature for my age and I don’t believe he is taking advantage of me (he won’t even kiss me if I’m drunk and he isn’t etc). However, my friends recently said it was weird and ‘basically illegal’ and it’s constantly been on my mind now. For context (if it makes a difference):
I live in the UK, age of consent is 16, age to drink is 18, we met without knowing our ages (which were revealed within two hours) and I have finished education and am going to university in September.

TL;DR - is 18 and 23 bad ?

I have only recently realised I’m terrified of my mother.

I recently turned 18 years old and I am moving out soon for university. I’ve had lots of time at home as I have finished school, and it has made me realise I am terrified of my mother.

I hate saying this because she can be really nice and she does love me, however, she has caused me fear that still stays with me years later.

My whole life, my mother would shout when she was angry, and she was angry a lot. I spent my whole life shaking when I heard doors opening, and I thought it was normal until recently. I completely shut down when someone is shouting in my face, and I still flinch when people raise their hands towards me.

When I was 16, my mother was in a relationship she prioritised over everyone. She would leave me in the house for days at a time with no food, wouldn’t answer my messages or calls, would only reply drunk texts and get angry if I sent an unhappy message back.

Tonight, she was drunk again, and threw a TV controller ‘in my direction’ - I don’t want to say ‘at me’ because I don’t think she wanted to hurt me. My heart dropped to my stomach for the first time in years, and I have been sitting on the couch sobbing, realising I’ll never not be terrified of her.

What is an acceptable level of noise to file a noise complaint?

**I am not talking about today - I know it’s a big night because of England !**

My neighbours party a LOT. I would say it seems to be about once a week at the least. They party in their garden every time and all of their parties usually go on until about 3am every time.

Recently, these parties seem to have been getting louder and louder. It’ll be 2:30 in the morning and they will be blasting music, screaming into microphones (not singing), chanting and yelling loud enough for me to hear full conversations from the third floor bedroom in my house with the window shut.

We have a street group chat, and the level of noise has been talked about. People have asked them to keep it down a little. They always reply woth a quick, “Sorry! Went overboard last night!”, then they’ll do it again.

I had a friend who lived 60 minutes away staying over end up leaving in the middle of the night because they had to be up early tomorrow and couldn’t sleep a wink.

I don’t want to spoil their fun or be the annoying neighbour who snitches to the council, but I feel this has become selfish rather than fun for anyone but themselves. Am I wrong to consider sending in a report?

Man in industrial lot at 1am

I live in an industrial part of London. Right by the river, there is a massive area full of rubbish and rats which you cannot go in unless you work there. The workers all wear uniform and close at 7pm.

I was walking home with a friend and walked beside the area, where I saw a man. He seemed to be old, but was standing very straight. He was staring at me with his mouth open and was completely still. The way he was standing so still and the way he was staring genuinely made me think he was having a stroke or something, so I slowed down just a little to see if he needed help.

But he just stayed the exact same place. My friend asked why I slowed down and I said ‘to see if that man needs help’. He replied, ‘what man?’. I turned around and he was fucking gone. The lot is MASSIVE and you couldn’t have run somewhere that fast, AND it’s full of clutter so it would have made noise. I have never been so freaked out in my life. :(

Only recently found out it’s not very normal to lip sync and dance slightly when listening to music in public.

what the title says, really. i was at the train station and a song i was REALLY feeling came on in my headphones and i must’ve been moving a little extravagantly and lip syncing because a man said he ‘loved my confidence’. i am the least confident person on the planet, i thought this was normal. led me down a rabbit hole of searches to find that no, most people don’t dance and lip sync their music in public. 🫤

I think it’s a stim, so i’ll probably keep doing it involuntarily lol.
