Penalised for yearly subscription

I wanted to pause my subscription as my pain cave is being demolished and will be without one for six weeks. I am on the annual subscription but it only pauses on the renewal date rather than just pausing now and moving the renewal date.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Solar panels up and running

Solar panels just installed on the Summer House and now my wife has ordered a log cabin to replace it. Good thing is that will take four panels.
So finished work sitting in the garden watching the EcoFlow software counting the pennies and cursing every time a small cloud passes by, damn that’s 20w I lost.
So I have an EcoFlow Stream Ultra and am getting the feeling it was too small as the battery is charged to 81% and still a good few hours of sunlight left.
I have an EcoFlow Micro inverter at the front of the property with 2 x 460w panels, what is the most economical way to expand battery storage given that soon all that lovely power will go to waste?

Found a remote for Zwift on Mac Mini

After getting rid of my trainer table the only thing that was a pain in the arse was using a mouse or trackball, found this remote on Amazon that acts as a mouse with tilt sensors and works over Bluetooth. Works a treat and very inexpensive.

For those of you using a dedicated bike for your trainer (Not Zwift ride) what have you done to make it more Zwift like?

I have a dedicated carbon frame no shifters or brakes (Have tandem Brake hood) with a single speed tensioner and single chain wheel. Have a front wheel but have just ordered a solid Orange tyre from a Chinese company to make it look the part.

What have the rest of you done to either improve performance or make your bike look like a Zwift bike?

Excuse the mess in the pics am having a good clear out ready for new pain cave to be delivered

What’s the most useful thing for DIY you have only just discovered?

Only discovered this in the past year, amazing, no more guessing where the pencil mark is on a wall, so many times that my drilling has been off by a tiny bit. Many many bodged holes this has upped my game

new user a couple of questions

Have a dedicated Mac mini 2018 version running Home Assistant. All going well and have added everything to it, next job is creating my own dash boards.

In terms of smart devices are there any brands that you would steer clear of because the company has occasionally broken HA integration because of updates or even blocked it?

And which is the easiest designer for a newbie to use for creating a dashboard?

BS7671 amendment 4?

The new amendment, BS 7671 Amendment 4, will make plug-and-play solar legal in the UK from summer 2026 onwards according to a news site.

Are electricians aware of what this means in terms of changing a new consumer box or a new circuit breaker etc?

As a non electrician can anyone tell explain what amendment 4 says and when the changes are live?

Ultra and Stream Micro inverter

Have 3 solar panels on summerhouse roof into the ultra and a panel at the front of the house as it’s too far to run another cable to the Ultra, is the Solar Generation amount and earnings the total from both units?

Ok found out that if I scroll down the page it shows what each has earned 🤭 left this up in case anyone else was wondering

I switched from Garmin to Amazfit two months ago, had enough of the Garmin Connect app. Was previously an Apple Watch user for a number of years but even. with the Ultra the battery life sucked.

First purchase was the T-Rex 3 Pro, following by the Helio Strap, the reason for the Helio Strap was because I use a treadmill and Zwift cycling a lot and got fed up with going to use the Polar arm strap and finding it needed charging and then the USB charger for it isn't keyed so easy to put it in round the wrong way.

Wanted a second slimmer watch for evening wear with shirts.

I started with the Active 2, liked the design however wasn't totally loving it, switched to the Active 3, liked the design but was too chunky, so went for the Active 2 square, battery on this sucked, lasted 4 days with HR set at 30 mins and stress and O2 turned off so that has just gone back and am going with the Bip 6, my wife has one and has been happy with it and the battery life.

Overall really like the Amazfit watches and the app, sleep tracking is better than with the Garmin, which never took any account of any naps.

Do all Wylex consumer units use the same bus bars, so if I have a RCD swapped out for a bidirectional RCBO will I have an issue with the electrician saying the whole lot will have to be changed or have Wylex maintained compatibility?

Basically I only want the Ultra to charge from the solar panels and output any excess to the house and discharge to the house when needed.
Have the Shelly EM EcoFlow meter so it doesn’t send power when grid use is low. Hope you understand my question, this is new to me. Luckily my wife is small and was good at climbing onto the summer house roof :)
