What’s actually going on inside those small 5–20 person software houses in coworking spaces?

Curious about small software houses with around 5–20 employees, especially those working from coworking spaces.
How much do these companies actually make and profit? What kind of clients do they usually have, and how much are employees typically paid?
More importantly, why do so many stay small instead of scaling? Is client acquisition the bottleneck, management, margins, or something else?
And with AI changing software development so quickly, are these smaller companies feeling pressure or becoming more profitable by operating with leaner teams?

Is the Pakistani software industry quietly heading into a serious slowdown, or am I just seeing it from my corner?

I’ve been in this industry for a while now and I can’t shake the feeling that things have changed a lot in the last 12–18 months.

Staff augmentation is drying up fast. The steady flow of “we need 3–4 developers for 6 months” kind of work has slowed to a trickle. MVP projects that used to keep smaller teams busy are rare now. Ticket sizes have dropped. Even on Upwork and Fiverr the volume and quality of work feels noticeably lower than before.

Most Pakistani software houses never really sold solutions directly to enterprises. We never built that muscle. The model was always the same: ride on existing clients, expand the teams already working with them, and hope those clients keep growing. That expansion seems to have stalled for a lot of companies.

Right now a lot of firms are still surviving because their long-term clients haven’t cut yet. But if those same clients start reducing headcount or freezing budgets, it’s going to get ugly fast. There’s very little new business pipeline to fall back on.

I’m not saying everything is doomed. Just wondering how widespread this is. Are other people seeing the same thing? Are companies finding new ways to sell, or is everyone just hoping the old clients start expanding again?

Curious to hear what’s happening at your end.

I have heard so much about Punjabi Nationalism. Where is your literature Guys ?

I only know a few Punjabi poets, and even they were descendants of foreigners, such as Baba Farid and Bulleh Shah, who are often said to have had Arab ancestry.
Most of the historical literature of the region is associated with Hindu, later Sikh, and deep Sanskrit traditions.
Therefore, one could argue that Urdu should also be accepted as part of the linguistic heritage of Punjabis…perhaps as a Punjabi-Urdu identity.
Many of the stories and literary traditions commonly known in Muslims of Punjab have been influenced by Urdu, Arabic, and Persian origins.
Punjabi nationalism is dead and I don’t see it coming back.
The Sikh empire was only Punjabi nation ever and we don’t want to be that.

Anyone else noticing how many people in Johar Town are living on rent these days?

Is it just me or Johar Town and nearby societies feel like they’re mostly on rent these days?

Every time I talk to someone or visit there it feels like hardly anyone is actually owning a house. Almost everyone is living in rented portions, apartments or full houses.

I keep wondering who all these people are. Some are students who’ve come from other cities, some are young guys working jobs or doing freelancing, and then there are families who shifted closer to schools, offices and better facilities. And honestly a lot of people just prefer upgrading their lifestyle without getting stuck in buying property.

But still the bigger question is… is it really that property has become too expensive there now, or renting has just become the normal way of living long term in places like Johar Town? Do People living in these areas have moved to outer lahore or Dha or abroad and their houses are rental assets?

Are international clients lowering freelancer rates because they know people will work for less?

Has anyone else noticed that international clients seem to be lowering rates across the board?

It feels like many clients now know they can find freelancers from countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and others who are willing to work for much lower rates, so they’re reducing what they’re willing to pay everyone. Rates that seemed normal a few years ago are now getting pushback, and clients often expect much more work for less money.

Is anyone else seeing this trend, or am I imagining it?

I feel like Wahab Riaz and Umer Gul were better than Premium Eagle in our team now…

Wahab bowled over 145 even in mid thirties and shaheen can’t touch 140 in his prime.

People that live in 100-150 square yard houses in dha phase 8. Cars parked outside house. How come they remain safe…

I’ve been trying to understand how security actually works in DHA areas and apartments.
Do private streets have their own guards who are responsible for entry/exit and patrolling? Or is it mostly DHA central security + CCTV?
Also for apartment buildings inside DHA:
Do they have dedicated security staff per building?
How strict is visitor entry control?
