Opinions on the French Press?

My husband uses a French press and has a basic Amazon glass and plastic one now. I just noticed Le Creuset has one and it’s in the color I have. Any opinions about its use or anyone have it?

“The Can-Opener Cookbook” - 1953 print, Poppy Cannon

As the intro states - “…today the can opener is fast becoming a magic wand, especially in the hands of those brave young women, nine million of them (give or take a few thousand here and there), who are engaged in frying as well as bringing home the bacon”.

This is a gem of a book and one of the most popular of Poppy’s publications. I just chose a few random pages to post recipes.

Paella on the Grill

This is a great summer recipe. It is from Americas Test Kitchen. Just please heed all the warning in the comments for not putting the seafood in until much later in the cooking. I grilled most of the proteins separately and added towards the end.

1981 - Betty Crocker Microwave Cookbook

I picked up this gem from the 80s. It is such a fun classic to look through. Many of the recipe surprised me that they would even be for the microwave. I included some of the interesting recipes in these pictures.

ATK Chana Masala

I made the ATK recipe for Chana masala. It was easy and delicious. I would have added more spice and more Serrano. But it was met with praise by my husband. We served it with naan bread brushed with garlic butter.

Ina Fresh Crab & Pea Risotto

Continuing the great recipes from Ina’s Modern Comfort Cooking, I made the Fresh Crab and Pea Risotto. This was very tasty. I also made some artichokes to go along with it.

Ina’s Spaghetti Squash Arrabbiata

This was a simple recipe and so flavorful. Spaghetti squash is also a tasty and cost efficient way to make dinner more veggie forward. This is out of “Modern Comfort Food” that is one of her books that has so many good recipes in it.

ATK Pork Grillades

I made this ATK recipe and it was very flavorful and a great dinner. The sauce was delicious. I did up the Cajun seasoning amount just a little.

Library Talk: “Who is Betty Crocker?”

I do monthly food history talks at my local library and this month was “Who is Betty Crocker?” It was a fun one and the crowd loved it. I also brought my whole collection of books, yet I forgot to take a pic of the table. I also made the Loaf O’ Gold cake as a sample.

Betty Crocker’s “Foods Men Like: Sure-to-Please Recipes for the Man in Your Life”

Finally got a hold of this gem of a pamphlet from 1970. There are several fun recipes in here, including the Jelly omelet. It has an alphabet “A to Z” theme to the recipes and the artwork is peak 70s.

“Remember them too when you are looking for a subtle way to say ‘thank you,’ ’please,’ or ‘I’m sorry.’

I found this beautiful sapphire Fire King loaf pan at an Antique store. I had never seen this item before. It has a very subtle but nice blue tint.
