I bit my lip three separate times while eating. Once yesterday morning and twice while eating ramen last night. It's bruised and broken today.
What kind of animal hunting behaviors are actually detrimental to their health over an extended period of time, but they do it anyway for the short term rewards? Example in post body.
I remember years ago I saw a documentary that reported on a group of dolphins which would chase fish up onto beaches to catch them. The hunting tactic was extremely risky because it risked stranding, but what was wild to me is that they were wearing down their teeth significantly over extend use of the behavior.
Each dolphin would either roll onto their left or right side and catch the fish in the exact same way, I guess similarly to people being left or right handed. Because they would ALWAYS catch the stranded fish on that side, the sand would act kind of like sandpaper and wear the teeth down only on that side. I don't know how it affects them long-term, but I am sure it's detrimental in some way.
Are there other animals that will harm themselves in ways due to how they hunt or forage?
What are some of the shortest animal evolutions that produce a separate species. (Forgive my unscientific question, please.)
Insects and rodents can reproduce at alarmingly high rates unlike larger mammals, many species of fish, Manny reptiles, and birds. What are some of the shortest time frames a completely new species was created? What are some examples of quickly produced new species? (Again, sorry about the peasant-speak.)
I forgot about my sweet potatoes in the back of the pantry for eight months. Thankfully, it's planting season!
I bit into an extremely juicy tomato, and the splat looked like a facehugger.
Yes, I tagged this art/creation.
Monthly food bank haul. I got especially lucky with this one for a family of three!
The milk, butter, cheese, toilet paper, fish sticks, tomatoes, potatos, and panquecitos were incredibly welcomed! Yes, panquecitos are basically vanilla cake, but we will make use of them! I advertised on my neighborhood Facebook group that I would give away 60 of them in bags of 10 so kids and multiple families can benefit. We will keep 20 for ourselves.
My first time gardening harvest. My three year old loves raw okra, I love tomatoes, and my husband loves strawberries. Win-win-win!
This little guy is crying again, crying anytime, anywhere.
I had no idea a whale’s mouth could open this wide.
My three year old daughter drew a dolphin with a "yucky poo poo."
Where is the best smelling place to work?
reddit.comMy sister literally caught grease in her hand while cooking. This is her progression.
A week ago, she was sitting in her wheelchair while cooking dinner. She plopped the last sausage patty in the skillet and for some unknown reason, turned her hand upside down when it splattered, and caught about a tablespoon of hot grease in her hand. Because she was sitting in the chair, she couldn't see that there was a huge amount of grease pooled on the side closest to her. It started a small fire when she flung the grease off her hand onto the burner. , but her daughter was able to put it out by smothering it with flour.

She waited 24 hours before going to the ER thinking it would be okay. It got way worse. The ER scheduled her at the burn unit the next day, and they popped, peeled, and cut off the blister. Pic 3 is cadaver skin they applied to keep it protected while it healed underneath. At about the 5 day mark, she went back to the burn unit, they cut it off and reapplied fresh cadaver skin.

She currently can only move her thumb about 3/4 of an inch in either direction, and she can bend her fingers at the second knuckle. It will require physical therapy after a long healing process.
