Curious to hear if this would appeal to anyone.
EDIT: accidentally wrote "Endless Space" which is a space grand strategy game. I actually meant to say Fractured Space which was a capital ship MOBA game that shut down, similar to Dreadnought
Maybe something like Star Was World of Warships, Fractured Space, AC Black Flag or anything like that where you'd control a capital ship with all of its weapons and maybe even launch starfighters from your hangars etc.
So Maul Shadow lord recently re-awoke my passion for Star Wars so I went back to watching lore deep dives and I can't help but notice how cluttered, disorganized and poorly thought out the IP has become with anything that isn't a Movie or TV Show. It's also feeling more and more claustrophobic with how little room they make new stuff in the imperial/prequel era.
Eli Vanto and the Chimera crew were huge characters in the second Thrawn trilogy and I remember being immensely disappointed they weren't even mentioned or acknowledged in Ahsoka. Instead Lucas is choosing to go back to Legends with Caption Pellaeon being the only crew member we should care about and it seems either the Yzong Vong or Abeloth arc is up next. The thing is that the Grysk were a huge factor in Thrawn's motivations and in a show about him being in the unknown regions not once are they brought up and judging by the direction their going in, are never to be brought up again.
Kanan's backstory getting retconned in Bad Batch while a cool introduction and sets the tone feels like an immense downgrade compared to his original comic origin.
Then we have Clone Wars, Jedi Survivor, the OT and BOB making Boba feel like an entirely different character every time he shows up. The first depicts him as a morally grey character making a name for himself trying carry on to his father's legacy and be a morale person. (relative to his colleagues I guess.). The second has him be a neutral agent only in it for the money with him willing to let Cal go despite his personal vendetta against Jedi feeling a bit out of character. Then Empire and Return make it clear he is not a good person as he is comfortable associating with people like Jabba despite knowing what he does but we're still supposed to believe he believes in honor. BOB has him being old grizzled and an overall decent guy despite everything that he's done. That's not even mentioning that by reestablishing Jango's backstory with Jastor, it makes no sense for him to be so apathetic to Mandalore/Mandalorian culture when his father raised him to have their values and he apparently cares about them enough to wear his dad's armor and believe in following a code of honor.
Then there's how the Inquisitors are depicted in all their appearance with Rebels, Fallen Order, and the Vader comics showing that willing or not, life as an inquisitor sucks. Brutal "training", initiations that are practically torture, threats of death if you fail, and actual death if you so much are still capable of feeling love. Meanwhile bombing or not, Barriss got in and out practically unscathed when her confession explicitly said she still held dear to the light and accused the Jedi of fighting for the dark side. It just feels unnatural for her to get in so easily when it's clear as day she's the only one in their coven who isn't a psychopath. She had such a minor personality shift when compared to all the others that it was just sloppy to let her out into the field and not expect her to immediately abandon the cause.
Like they chose to pull from their stuff or legends but only what they feel like and it makes the broader world-building suffer for it. With how poorly the mando movie did compared to other SW films and the creators refusal to leave the Prequel/OT era when their running out of room, at this point it feels like it would be good to start fresh. What do you guys think?
Elan Sleazebaggano for a sleazebag
Despayre for a prison planet where presumably the prisoners feel despair
Luuke Skywalker for Luke's clone
Greedo is a greedy bounty hunter
What are your favorite examples of on-the-nose or silly names in Star Wars?
Kay and Nix are just clowning on the Empire here. I slip into a base, in and out in 10 minutes with all the treasure and intel, security systems completely disabled, leaving nothing behind but an invincible walker circling a graveyard.
If I don't want to clear the whole base of enemies and just need some intel for a side quest, I can be in and out of the command room like it's my own backyard.
To quote Dak from ESB: "I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself"
It sometimes feels like the older (pre-Disney) Star Wars games are treated like an untouchable, dogmatic gold standard of Star Wars games (looking at you KOTOR..)
I grew up with the original Battlefront II (2005), but playing it today, it feels incredibly arcadey and plain. I think my childhood imagination was doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
Similarly, the Jedi Knight games feel super dated to me now even though I enjoyed them as a kid, especially since I've been spoiled by the modern Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor series.
If you didn’t grow up with these classics and played them for the first time recently, how do they actually hold up for you? Do clunky controls and dated design push you away, or do they live up to the legendary hype?
My friend and I are considering buying the game on sale for tactical co-op, but I'm seeing totally conflicting info online. Older reviews describe a massive looter-shooter grind with gear scores and colored loot system, but newer posts talk about an "Immersive Mode" that lets you turn off the RPG elements entirely for a simple tactical/stealth shooter experience.
If we buy the game, can we turn this mode on from day one, grab the guns we like, equip the attachments we want, and play straight through the main story as a tactical shooter without ever worrying about levels, open world side-quests, farming and "grind"?
Also are all of the weapons and attachments locked behind completing extra stuff outside of the main campaign? Do I have to "hunt down" an SMG I like in some arbitrary location in the open world and then "hunt down" scopes and grips for it in other locations etc?
I'm genuinely curious (and not just trying to dunk on the sequels) did they ever explain the Holdo maneuver in canon? Maybe in some book or comic book there is an official explanation why nobody ever uses it?
Specifically, the age-old question of "Why can't the Rebels just strap a hyperdrive to a big rock or some space junk and launch it at a target?" Or, even better, why not sacrifice one empty ship in Episode VI and ram the Death Star?
I saw another thread today where someone said, "It only worked because the Supremacy's shields were down."
However, I remember characters in the CW and Rebels show freaking out if something was in their path when jumping to hyperspace, even though their shields are up.
I also remember Hondo mentioning that he'd wait near hyperlane exits to ambush incoming ships, and he talks about the risk of collisions if he was too close, and he doesn't mention shields.
Edit: Regarding the death star thing, I remember people saying it wouldn't work because there is a mass ratio in play between the thing you are sending and the target. But again, I'm interested in the official canon explanations
I remember reading somewhere that some items marked as "junk" or "safe to sell" can actually lock you out of certain side quests or dialogue options if you sell them. I think I even ran into this once myself because I happened to keep a "safe to sell" item because it sounded rare or important and coincidentally I later had the option to hand it over during an encounter.

I've basically stopped selling anything because of this. At this point, Kay is hauling around thousands of tons of metal scraps, broken droid parts, forged identichips, jewelery and even some fruits that I've rarely come across lmao

Is there any way to know this in advance, or has someone compiled a list of items that are worth keeping?
Easy to miss since it is just a small plaque along Opatija's famous seaside promenade.

In English the plaque reads:

JÓZEF PIŁSUDSKI
1867 – 1935

FIGHTER AND STATESMAN
CO-CREATOR OF AN INDEPENDENT POLAND
FIRST MARSHAL AND HEAD OF THE POLISH STATE STAYED IN OPATIJA
ON THE EVE OF THE GREAT WAR FOR THE FREEDOM OF NATIONS
