Is it better to use Groot ult to force enemy support ult, or hold it until after they ult?

Title.

I often hold my ult until after their supports ult. Otherwise, soon as I ult, Invis/CD/etc pops ult and that's that. I also know that they are holding it for me, and I like forcing them to hold theirs for longer than they would like.

Of course, this also leads to me holding my ult longer than I'd like as well.

Forcing sups to ult early does give my sups the ult advantage, yes, but doesn't forcing them to hold their ult for me accomplish similar? They can't trade with my supports if they are holding for me.

Appreciate your take on which approach gets the most value.

Not even MKs respect Cap anymore smh 😒

Season 9 balancing crisis in a nutshell. Cap so weak, the heroes he usually counters can hold their ground. I can’t remember the last time a moon knight actually hunted me down for a 1v1.

Just to give some context, MK was not my priority at first. I was trying to bother healers and draw attention. Eventually I realize this MK really wants the smoke, but I still couldn’t fully engage him because my health was low and his backline was still looking at us. I had to wait until they looked away before fully committing.

Does Groot ult do more damage when you ult directly onto wall?

I noticed the enemy tends to explode more when I do this. The damage burst also just gives them less time to react.

Or am I making this up?

Thing is better into poke than Cap

I’m serious. If you’re still swapping Cap to deal with poke (or anything rn), you’re throwing.

Go Thing. Leap majestically into their face and make it rain flaming haymakers. They will crumble beneath your rocky might. They will hear bells ringing in their worse nightmares.

Arrows? Haymaker.
Shotgun? Haymaker.
Beam? Haymaker.
Squids? Haymaker.
Eye lasers? Haymaker.
Death daggers? Haymaker.

But what abou—Haymaker.

Oh no! XYZ poke hero is about to activate one of their bs escape options!

Slam. Haymaker.

Lmk what yall think.

Cap isn’t a difference maker anymore, and it makes me so sad.

I been playing Cap since s0, and he’s never felt this bad.

I used to be able to make a legit difference with Cap. My secret weapon. Like, we were losing, I go Cap, and now the entire momentum of the match changes. People have to swap to counter me. I really felt like I could force things. I always had hope.

Now? I feel the only matches I win with Cap are matches I was gonna win anyway. I’m no longer a real threat. Just a nuisance. I feel like I’m throwing.

What bothers me the most is devs intentionally made him trash. He didn’t just get left behind. Devs intentionally fucked him over. It’s not just the HP nerf. Other tanks got adjusted in ways that make them viable in the new meta. Not Cap. They WANTED Cap garbage. Smfh.

A Cap without durability is NOT Cap. They destroyed his hero fantasy.

No point to this thread. I’m just venting.

Edit - I posted this in main sub. Please support.

The problem with Cap’s teamups is that they don’t synergize with his playstyle

Consider 3 other strong (arguably broken) tanks this meta.

Thing

Thing punches and defends things. His teamups let him punch and defend things better.

Phoenix teamup lets him punch harder, faster, and longer, granting him overshield with each punch.

Invisible Woman teamup lets him get more sustain, so he can keep punching things even against heavy damage conditions that typically counter him (heavy poke). Also lets him keep his team alive.

Mag

Mag pokes and defends things. Both of his teamups let him poke and defend things better.

Wanda teamup gives him crazy range and significantly ups his damage output.

Emma teamup basically gives him more damage and HP, as well as allows for more bubbles and shields.

Venom

Venom dives and disrupts things. Both of his teamups let him dive and disrupt things better.

Phoenix team up grants him more AOE damage during dives. As a result, he confirms more kills and farms his ult crazy fast.

Blade teamup grants him health over time during his dives, as well as some extra damage.

Let’s look at Cap

Cap dives things and disrupts things. Neither of his teamups facilitate this.

Bucky teamup grants him and allies bonus health. The problem is it forces Cap to play closer to his team, which is not always what he wants to do. Unless you have a dive buddy, using it basically ends the dive

Thor teamup grants his shield throws more damage. The problem is his preferred playstyle is melee. Even with jumping shield throws, he simply doesn’t have the health to stay engaged and actually maximize its usage.

In short, while other strong tanks and their teamups grant them significant uptime, Caps lack of synergy with his teamups is a huge reason why he got left behind. For Cap to be strong again, it’s not just a matter of fixing numbers and giving him more HP. They have to adjust his teamups in a way that actually suits him. For example, electrified melee with more damage and range with Thor teamup.

I'm a Puerto Rican Tank Main from NYC and I just wanted to say I've never felt so seen. Shout out to whoever at Netease did the homework.

Like bro, for real? Damian Priest? The Spanish voicelines?? The "WEPA"??? The salsa emote???? The TIMBS????? With the leather pads showing?????? He’s so Nuyorican it’s crazy 😂.

Might as well just give Netease all my money in advance.

It's gratuitous, yes, but I love it. Appreciate Netease really leaning into the Latino-ness (they kept it pretty mild with namor, which I sort of understand).

Getting choked by Emma is instant death this season

In the past, you could still survive.

Now you just die before the animation finishes.

The HP nerf and the insane damage output this season ruined our boy.

Are yall actually enjoying this season?

This season is one of the worst seasons in a while imo. The skill floor has been lowered globally. It feels very spammy and sloppy. Just so much damage pouring out all over the place. For no reason. Mindless. The art of baiting cooldowns has never been so pointless because too many heroes can just cycle infinitely.

I can see DPS loving this season and maybe healers, but tanks? Are yall enjoying all this spam??

Edit — It’s hard to explain. I do think the season is FUN, but it’s in a mindless less sophisticated kind of way. If that makes sense.

I want to marry my gf. What red flags I should look for?

Hey y'all. I'm looking to propose to my gf in the near future.
She has everything I'm looking for, our dynamic is loving and healthy, so it just seems inevitable.

Could you give me some advice about what major red flags I should consider? Would particularly love to hear from married men.

Edit for some more details -- We've been together a little under year so far. I'm not proposing to her yet, but just looking for wisdom I should keep in mind as we get to that point.

Whoever looked at the angry T Rex that shoots lasers and decided he needs shoulder mounted cannons had an awesome childhood

That’s pretty much the post. I just tried him out a few times in QP and it was so fun lol. Ulting and stomping in with cannons blazing. Cmon!! Peak fantasy 🫡.

PSA - The shield regen system will globally lower the rate of healer ults

That’s pretty much the post. Making heroes less heal dependent means your healers will charge their ults less —> less support ults

Which Tanks bully Emma?

The problem with Emma is that no tanks bully her. No tank can really force her to swap off. She has a positive matchup at best, or neutral matchup at worst, against all tanks. Meanwhile, other tanks have actual negative matchups.

She cooks all brawl tanks. Dive tanks have enough mobility to avoid and/or bait her for a neutral matchup.

Perhaps her best tank counters are Mag and DP, but I wouldn’t say they bully her the way she bullies other tanks. They just out range her. Maybe Groot can block her heals, but she can also farm her beam pretty good.

Thoughts?

Edit — Yall are inspiring me to learn rogue. Thanks. I’ve been looking for a reason to pick her up!!

Is this guy cheeks now?

I tried using him a few times this season, and he just doesn’t shred like he used to. Feel like, if I didn’t crit every shot, nothing was dying. Miss a shot, and they are back at full health. Not saying I gotta kill everything, but he at least had enough offensive pressure to make people fall back, make space, etc.

I remember when DP could challenge Thor for the DPS tank title. Now, not so much. They massacred my boy. Without damage, this guy has no real means of making/holding any space imo.

Best way to use spear? Any advanced tips?

Hey yall. What’s the best way to use spear?

Do you spear off cooldown, or do you wait until enemy is low health? Wait until beam is charged and then spear?

When do you go crystal to melee it?

This guy’s sword form is too oppressive to tanks

Yeah, I know he’s a tankbuster, but other tankbusters are healthy in comparison.

Other tankbusters balance lethality with openings for counterplay. They have attack patterns that tanks can still fight back against and cooldowns that limit their uptime.

Blade sword form is problematic because it has infinite uptime. Once he goes in, he doesn’t have to come back out. He just sticks onto the tank until the tank dies. And that’s not even considering the anti heal and slow he applies.

What do yall think (specifically tank players)? How would you adjust the form to be more balanced?

Heroes that are strong with coordination do not need nerfs. Leave Cap alone bro.

Cap is what a strong but balanced hero should look like. This is a team game. When I win with Cap, I never feel like I did it alone. When I lose to a Cap, I never feel like there’s nothing my team could’ve done. Isn’t team play and coordination the goal? A nerf to cap is a nerf to team play.

Cap rewards skill, game sense, and team coordination, but he has many counters. He has no passive value, and won’t win MVPs or rack up 25 final hits. He doesn’t have an instant value button that will kill everyone or keep everyone alive (besides his ult, and even that requires coordination.) He doesn’t have mindless spam value either. He can create winning opportunities for his team, but he rarely does it on his own. Thats why despite how strong he can be, he is consistently amongst the lowest picked tanks.

If a hero is strong when you play as a team, that’s a GOOD thing. ALL heroes should be reliant on their team to unlock their full potential. How can you disagree???

Cap is solid yes, but his strength is team dependent. Always has been. If your team can’t control a Cap it’s because your team is cheeks or his team is enabling him. He doesn’t single handedly overwhelm his counters.

Nerfing Cap (and others like him) sends the wrong message and establishes an awful precedent. It discourages team play.

Leave Cap alone bro.

Heroes that are strong with no team coordination whatsoever, that single handedly determine the outcome of a match — THOSE are the ones we should be nerfing.

That is all.

Edit - Some of yall mentioning his ult charge mechanic. One, his ult charge mechanic is not busted like gambits. His ult does not lock on and does not boost damage, so he charges significantly less than Gambit’s. Two, the ult charge mechanic discourages using his ult selfishly, and encourages his team playing with him. Take it away, and Caps will go back to solo ulting backlines. Is that what you want? In both cases, the ult charge promotes team play. The game is healthier this way.

Edit 2 - This isn’t just about Cap. It’s about tank agency. Cap is strong in part because he doesn’t have the same weaknesses as most other tanks. He isn’t a CC victim, he doesn’t get farmed and exploded by poke, can’t get easily kidnapped or walled off, etc. Tanking is difficult enough as it is. You want less of tanks? Leave em alone man.

The amount of notifications and events is out of control 😭

Like seriously wtf is all this? I can’t keep track of it all, to the point that I gave up. I’ve accepted that I simply can’t keep up with every little thing, but the clutter still bothers me.

Is there a way to turn notifications off? Adjust the Home Screen layout somehow?

Whoever is in charge of UI — Do yall not realize the more you clutter everything, the less people will actually engage? Yall seriously don’t think you cant make this better somehow?? You shouldn’t be beating your player base into submission. You won’t win.

Edit - Those of you defending this makes zero sense and clearly have no understanding of user experience. If any other interface was like this, on an app or operating system or website or whatever. Yall understand that in any other industry, they go out of business for UI like this right? Assaulting the user with too many options, sales, and alerts is objectively horrible design. Period. People literally study this stuff and hire teams to avoid exactly this problem. If you don’t agree, the problem is you.
