[Harper] It's questionable if the Thunder proceed long term with 3 players on a max contract. Chet Holmgren's repeated struggles against Victor Wembanyama could lead to him being the odd one out
>Speaking of OKC, the Thunder are facing their own financial crunch.
>GM Sam Presti is unquestionably the best at simultaneously building a roster and maximizing the accumulation of assets. We always note how many future first-round picks they have and how much they can pivot even by losing key players. Even this summer, they’ve had to say goodbye to Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe in trades. That was to get under the second apron. The issue is not going anywhere.
>Just with the contracts of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams, OKC has roughly $143 million committed this coming season, $149.5 million in 2027-28, $161 million in 2028-29, $172.5 million in 2029-30 and $184 million in 2030-31. The good news is they have three incredible players locked up for five years (SGA has a player option in that last season). The bad news is this isn’t a three-on-three league.
>Cason Wallace is extension eligible and has made comments about wanting to get paid. Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein are on team-friendly deals for the next couple of seasons but might become second-apron casualties. Ajay Mitchell, Jaylin Williams and Jared McCain are extension eligible in a year. The second apron is rearing its ugly head with OKC in real time and will continue to do so as long as the Thunder keep that big three together. They might have to make a big-time decision soon. If Holmgren continues to struggle against Victor Wembanyama when it matters most, then maybe that decision becomes easier.
[Marks] If Maxey earns all-NBA this season, he would be eligible for a 4 year 301 million dollar contract next summer or a 5 year 389 million dollar contract in 2028
That would be 77 mil AAV and would easily clear 80 mil in the later years of the deal. NBA money is crazy
The same thing applies to Ant as well

streamable.comStory from before the 2024 NBA draft of Matas Buzelis challenging Zaccharie Risacher to a 1v1 which he declined
>Matas Buzelis, one of the top prospects for the 2024 NBA draft, has challenged ESPN's projected No. 1 pick, Zaccharie Risacher, to a 1-on-1 showdown in the NBA pre-draft process.
"Of course, I want to see him one-on-one. He just doesn't want to do that with me. His agent will not do that with me, and I know he won't. It’s a business decision," Buzelis responded to BasketNews when asked if he would like to challenge Risacher in the NBA pre-draft workout"
My advantage is that I have everything over him," he added when asked about his main advantage that would enable him to win this duel.
How do you think the top 4 picks this year will compete with the ones last year in their rookie years?
AJ, DP, Boozer, and Wilson is an insane top 4 but we may have seen an even better one in Flagg, Harper, VJ and Kon with how their rookie years played out. Which group would you take?
Risacher is the second player in the top 10 of the 2024 draft and the first in the top 5 to be traded
Earlier this year Rob Dillingham was traded for Ayo Dosunmu. In similar fashion, Risacher was traded for a win now player of the same position in Lu Dort
Also brutal that the first overall picks selected in the year before and after him are Wemby and Flagg
Best 2 man lineups by net rating last year (Min 500 minutes)
Hugo Gonzalez + Derrick White: +29.7 in 521 minutes
Wemby + Dylan Harper: +26.5 in 560 minutes
Shai + Alex Caruso: +23.5 in 587 minutes
Shai + Jaylin Williams: +22.3 in 740 minutes
Wemby + Devin Vassell: +21.2 in 1003 minutes
What was Brad Stevens cooking?
[Hayes] Detroit playing hardball with Duren might lead him to take the qualifying offer this summer. If that happens, it means he's fed up and really wants out to the point of no return
streamable.com[Charania] Rich Paul has met with multiple teams and has given LeBron all the information needed to make a decision but there is no timeline for the coming weeks. Miami, Cleveland and Philadelphia seem to be the likeliest options with Golden State and Minnesota still in the mix
streamable.comThoughts on Acuff’s summer league so far?
He’s so far averaging 20 ppg but on 31/25/70 splits and just 4.5 assists to 3.5 TOV. The offensive talent is clear but his shot selection is quite bad and obviously the defense is horrible. I honestly think this is how his rookie year will go with a lot of flashes of a star guard but poor efficiency and impact overall
Hugo Gonzalez is 6/26 in summer league so far
After entering year 2 with large expectations by Boston, he has struggled to find his shot but he has had very good all around production with 14 rebounds and 12 assists across the 2 games
[Bondy] Russell Westbrook is a candidate to join the Heat, but not if LeBron James signs with Miami
Everybody is awaiting The Decision 2.0 from LeBron James — including another future Hall of Famer on the market.
According to a league source, Russell Westbrook is a candidate to join the Heat but not if LeBron signs in Miami.
Westbrook, 37, is a diminished version of his former MVP self but still averaged 15.2 points over 64 games last season with the Kings.
James, meanwhile, is sifting through his options in free agency. Miami, Cleveland and Philadelphia are considered the front-runners.
Westbrook and James were teammates with the Lakers for 1 ½ seasons and struggled, winning just 33 games and falling to 11th in the West in 2021-22.

Drake Powell through 4 summer league games is 1/28 from the field and 0/14 from 3
Drake Powell is going through a rough shooting slump to start off year 2. Can he bounce back in summer league?
Khaman Maluach's year 2 summer league debut: 19 points and 11 rebounds on 7/15 shooting (3/7 from 3)
Would still take him top 10 in a redraft. His upside is immense if he keeps developing his shooting
Will the NBA change the draft age eligibility rule to where no matter the age, one year of college is enough?
This rule was first majorly seen with Jayden Quaintance who was a top 10 potential top 5 pick in 2025 after his freshman season but had to play another year because he was a reclass that was too young to declare. But this upcoming year, we might have 3 of these guys in Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje, Nikola Kusturica, and Marcus Spears Jr that are also highly touted recruits that will have to spend 2 years in college
Do you think that since this is becoming more popular, the NBA will let them be draft eligible with just 1 year of college no matter what age they are?
