What’s going on?

Per Title: 2012 Chevy Equinox violently shaking at random. Sometimes will shake violently when going above 50mph but also shakes when going around 20mph

Took my car to a shop to get a diagnosis and they said it was the compressor and wanted to charge me about $1100 to empty the freon and replace the compressor. My question is, if I took my car to a shop to have them empty it and then replaced the part myself is it worth it?
