Why is introducing people getting less common now?

I don't know why introducing people is becoming less common now. I (31M) moved from the countryside almost 7 months ago because of work. I made a lot of friends and colleagues and got into new activities, which is great.

I've noticed that whenever I go to a gym or party where I'll go to a friend of mine, and then bump into another friend, they just start to chat and make no effort to introduce me even though I'm standing right in front of them. I just introduce myself, but it feels like I'm imposing on them and their conversation.

Meanwhile, when it comes to me introducing them, I make a real effort to introduce them to make them feel included.

I'm fine with just building connections with other people with similar interests and just socializing. I wonder why introducing other people is not common now, is it normalized now?

This is like being a meth head and asking someone who's never done meth how they're going to get through their day without meth

Help with Gemini Notebook

Hi I am looking for a place where I can easily compile references for my research. Is the free Gemini Notebook's feature enough to do this or do I have to subscribe to it. Thank you.

Automated court reservation bot for rich suburban paddle tennis clubs

paddle tennis is exploding in wealthy suburban suburbs, and court reservations open online at midnight on Mondays. all slots fill up in under three seconds. rich executives were literally complaining on Facebook groups about missing their 7 AM Thursday court time.

i built a lightweight headless browser automation script wrapped in a WhatsApp bot interface. member texts "thu 7am court 1", bot hits the facility reservation system at 00:00:00.002 and secures the court. charging 25 members $80 a month each. zero server costs, running off a free tier cloud instance, and my users treat me like a savior.

I’m a travel creator, these are the things that helped me most

I’m making travel content for a while, and one of the first things I noticed is that brands already have plenty of nice photos and polished videos.

What they often need more of is content that helps people understand what the experience feels like, so I have some tips for you:

A) Make the video useful:

When I film a hotel, tour or activity, I try to include the details I would want to know before booking.

How far is the hotel from the centre? What does the room look like in normal lighting? Is the experience better for couples, families or solo travellers? Is it worth the price?

The videos that get the most saves and questions usually answer something specific.

B) Show the full experience:

Hotels already have professional shots of the room, pool and restaurant.

I try to show the parts that make the stay feel real: arriving, checking in, opening the curtains, going down for breakfast, walking around the area and seeing what the place feels like at different times of the day.

C) Give the product a reason to appear

This matters a lot when working with travel apps, eSIMs, booking platforms or luggage brands.

I usually introduce the product through a situation that already makes sense in the video.

D) Start with places near you:

You don’t need an international trip to build a travel portfolio.

Local hotels, restaurants, spas, tours, countryside stays and weekend activities can give you plenty of material.

You can also make sample content for travel apps from home using screen recordings, voiceovers and planning-style videos.

E) Pitch a specific idea:

Generic messages like “I love your hotel and would love to collaborate” are easy to ignore.

I get better responses when I include a clear concept.

For example, I might suggest a video about spending a quiet weekend outside the city, or a guide to visiting the area without following the usual tourist route.

That gives the company something concrete to react to and shows that I’ve looked at what they offer.

F) Pay attention to saves and questions:

Views are useful, but travel content often gives stronger signals through saves, comments and direct questions.

I always save screenshots of those results because they’re useful when pitching the next client.

The biggest thing I’ve learned is to create content from the point of view of someone planning the trip.

Got paid to draw squares!!

I just remembered an old side gig I used to do back in my freshmen years. I used to draw squares and rectangles on houses on a map and copy paste labels into formats.

It was fun and sometimes repetitively boring but it does pay quite a bit back then.

On Christmas and new Year it does pay well!

I hope it still works this year.
