Why are the standard graduate salary offerings still so incredibly low?

I am looking at entry level firm positions and the base packages being offered across the mid tier and big four are absolute pennies compared to other professional services. When you factor in the expected unpaid overtime during busy season the actual hourly rate drops well below minimum wage. How are firms wondering why talent is leaving for banking or tech

Trying to understand the true cost of a balloon payment at the end

I am looking at a 5 year lease structure and the residual value payment at the very end is sitting at around $20k . The brochure makes the monthly payments look super affordable, but the thought of having to find that massive lump sum of cash or face refinancing all over again is giving me real pause. How did you guys prepare for the final payout?

What percentage of your paycheck goes straight into the market every month?

I’m still quite new to investing, but I’m currently managing to automatically route about 15% of my post tax income into my brokerage account the day after payday. Some weeks it feels like a real squeeze on my lifestyle, but I am terrified of looking back in ten years and wishing I started earlier

Westpac Altitude Black second-year trap

They are offering 200k points now, but 100k of that only lands after you pay the second-year $295 annual fee. It feels like a sneaky way to keep us from cancelling at month 11. What am I missing here?

Best Qantas International First lounge in the world?

Got a couple of passes to burn before the July changes kick in. If you had to choose between LAX, Singapore, or Sydney for a long layover, which one has the best menu right now?

Bitcoin dropping under $80k again because of inflation wasn’t on my bingo card

BTC dipping below $80k after the latest US inflation numbers shows how tied crypto still is to Fed expectations. Every time people think rate cuts are coming, inflation data ruins the party again. What’s interesting is that buyers still seem to be defending the high $70k range pretty hard instead of full panic selling. Do you guys think this is just a normal pullback before another run, or are we finally seeing the market lose momentum a bit?

Has anyone been looking at the healthcare sector lately?

CSL and ResMed have both had a pretty rough run on the ASX recently, especially CSL with all the earnings pressure and big moves in sentiment. I’m trying to figure out whether this is more of a genuine buying opportunity after a reset, or if the market is basically re-rating the sector and pricing in slower growth going forward

Why do people still rate the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black?

The points seem to hit your account pretty fast for some people, but the $425 fee feels hard to justify unless you’re comfortably hitting the minimum spend early. What am I missing here?

Is keeping cash in offset while leasing a car actually optimal?

I have the cash to buy a BYD Sealion 7 outright but my broker says the lease is better because the cash stays in my 6.1 percent mortgage offset. When you factor in the GST saving and the zero FBT, the lease seems like a no-brainer even with a 10 percent interest rate. What am I missing here? Is the math really that lopsided for EVs?

$105M for AI-driven approvals, any small-cap tech/consulting plays here?

The Budget included a specific $105.9 million carve-out for a new AI tool to "slash red tape" in environmental assessments. Usually, this means government contracts for tech providers or specialized environmental consulting firms. Does anyone know which ASX-listed players are already in this "Gov-Tech" space?

Huge changes to Negative Gearing and CGT announced tonight – end of an era for established property?

The 2026 Budget just dropped and it’s a massive shake-up for investors. From July next year, negative gearing is being restricted to new builds only, and the 50% CGT discount is being replaced by inflation-adjusted indexation for established homes. It feels like the Government is finally trying to push capital toward new supply rather than just trading existing houses. What’s everyone’s move- are you pivoting to new builds, or is this the "buy before July" signal for established property?

What’s the most overrated money saving tip people keep repeating?

I’m so over being told to skip my $5 coffee as if that makes a dent in the current rental market. What frugal advice do you think is actually a trap or just a total waste of effort for the tiny return you get?

I honestly don’t get why it hasn’t come back to what it used to feel like. The snacks are fine on shorter flights, but on 3-4 hour sectors you really need a proper meal

I only started investing a couple of weeks ago and the volatility has been a pretty quick reality check. I went in expecting slow steady growth over time, but instead I’ve spent most mornings opening the app to a portfolio full of red. Everyone always says buy and hold like it’s easy, but it feels very different when it’s your own money dropping every day and the news cycle is full of macro chaos

Which suburb on the Coast has changed the most over the last 5 years in your opinion?

For me, it has to be Baringa. Five years ago it was basically just dirt and hope, but now it feels like a massive self-contained mini-city with its own schools, sports hubs, shopping precincts, and huge population growth that’s shifted a lot of attention away from the traditional coastal strips

Looking at the 130k + $250 offer. T&Cs say you need to keep the card for 12 months for the full bonus, but is that just for the extra 30k or do they actually claw back the initial points if you cancel once they hit? Anyone done this recently?
