I wanted to take a look at when Gwen and Peter had the serious talk about how she isn't his Gwen. I found that no problem but in that issue she says that the others told her about his Gwen and I'm looking for when that conversation happened.
Not gonna lie, there is a lot of things pointing to him being heavily inspired by Static Shock rather than the original or Milestone Reboot version. The reason I hope that's not the case is because in Static Shock his mother is dead, in all comic runs that I know of they made it a point for him to have a whole family unit. This shapes his entire character in a way and doesn't promote negative stereotypes of a 1 parent household.
I know they kept the BLM movement change from the Reboot but that means absolutely nothing. DC won't want gang violence and racial discourse being focal points if they can help it, if Milestone didn't have control over his overall image you'd just get another Black Lightning back story. Every time he talked about his backstory in the Outsider's (the only thing with Black lightning I've read) every time he talked about his past it read more like systematic oppression and economic disparity than racial oppression.
Static's entire outfit looks like it came from his early 2000s wardrobe rather than the high tech gear he got from Hardware. I liked that run, he was well rounded as a character. He was a science Wiz, practiced martial arts & meditation, knew how to sow and they actually explored his powers like those glucose pills. He still had electromagnetic powers but he could heal and generate electricity.
I like Static Shock, but it's not like they are gonna formally tie it into the "cannon" of the DCAU and I want him to have a whole family unit.
So the new issue is out and I have some observations
Images 1-3: So Static was just recruited and we aren't gonna go over the totally bs way Cyborg treated him and had him ready to storm out? Cy out here blaming him for him protecting himself is laughable. I'd have shot those drones down even if my powers weren't on the fritz from them not using them for so long. It's basically confirmed he's recruited but I'd have loved to seen them actually accepting him.
Images 4-5: I was pretty sure they were hinting at a possible love connection between these two before but now I can almost see them setting it up. That being said they had next to no significant interactions in this chapter. He also mentioned he'd been dumped way to many times this chapter be lookin at a new girl like that.
Image 6: I am not sure how this Wonder girl title operates but why is this chick trying to claim the title? Does it come with powers or something? I don't know anything about this Wonder girl except that she's Brazilian, an orphan and apparently American. All of which I learned from this chapter. Idk of she was born with divinity or why she has to force herself to be in America, Stephanie said she had no choice and she was an orphan. How does this play into anything?
All in all as a new comic reader who specifically started reading comics for the sole purpose of supporting Static from childhood nostalgia for the Static Shock days I like this chapter way more than the last issue.
Both Cyborg and Nightwing are both being a little abrasive, I understand Nightwing's for the most part although it's annoying. Also the who "This takes place before the kingdom of Zod and Batman bad Seed events" is getting on my nerves.
So I left the game months ago, was never a hardcore player but I've dabbled over the years and the pvp was unplayable for me. Apparently they were doing some kind of mass cleanup of cheaters and people giving themselves free everything. Did this work? Is the game better than it was?

Just found out about this but am slightly confused
I started reading Imperials and couldn't be bothered to finish it. I wanted to read it cause I learned Hiro-kala was supposedly killed by poisoning. First off how old is Kala? Both him and Skaar revert to child like forms when not empowered (kala by old power since we haven't seen his hulk form) Skaar is his twin and he looks like a 13 to 15 year old when in base form. How does he have 5 wives and children that look nearing 10?..
This run does not bother to go over how Hiro-kala escaped his seal, how he becomes accepted as the ruler of Sakaar, why hulk is still recognized as the ruler even after abandoning it and it being an entirely new planet.
Skaar wasn't there, we don't know how Hiro dealt with his past actions or why he wanted to lead people especially after what he did to the previous batch.
The there is the whole Starlord and his father situation. As someone who knew more about Starlord from the MCU I still thought his father was Ego and half sister was Mantis. Color me surprised that he's just an human looking alien villain / crime boss with no superpowers. Looking more into that whole situation there are logical inconsistencies with his whole being there and especially being a leading royal counsel member.
These are just the tip of the iceberg with the problems of this run. I quit reading during the who grandmaster bit and skimmed the rest cause it bored me and Hulk wasn't doing anything.
Hulk was basically brought into Galactic levels of intrigue for no reason off the back of one of his son's death. A guy who had not been seen in 15 years at that point. What a waste of potential
At least he might can come back via the green door. Never seen a Hulk form powered by love before
I'm reading Infernal Hulk, I skimmed the prequel like 2 years ago when he was traveling with some girl who got out of a bad situation with her father. I didn't read it, wasn't into comics at the time just liked what I had heard through video essays. Now that I am into comics and heard about what's going down With Bruce and Brother Vudoo I decided fuck it might as well pick up this series.
What was the reason? Seeing Bruce interact with the Hulks in his mind palace / Hulkscape. Mind you a day earlier I learned about Starship hulk and that it came after an incredible run where Bruce and Hulk had been patching things up. Knowing this is why Hulk refused to help him when he was beaten near death multiple times.
Why I say no reason people hate Bruce? Imagine finding all that out then reading the 2nd issue of this comic and see him refer to Skaar as "The Hulk's son". Correct me if I'm wrong but both Bruce and Hulk were in a union with the mother of Skaar and Hiro-kala. They showed her his human form in the ultimate show of vulnerability. And since I was reading the World Breaker omnibus just yesterday I know for a fact that he depowered himself to lure in Dr. Strange to cripple his hands.
Before I was into comics I watched plenty of stuff on the Hulk's son's and I remember Bruce rigorously training Skaar to go up against other's especially Daken. Bruce, not the Hulk, Bruce.
Now it's the Hulk's son. This son of a bitch
Although I'm a bit disappointed with the treatment static received in issue #38 of The New Titans I am still none the less excited to see Static hit the bigger stage. I watched someone compare Static's power feats (cannon not future selves) with that of Black Lightning in a who do you think would win.
They gave some very valid reasons as to why Black Lightning no diffs Static. Imo I think Virgil has been handicapped because he had no room to expand. In milestones he's limited to Dakota and streetlevel threats outside of crossovers. In DC he was doing infrequent guest appearances since he wasn't a fully licensed character. If you bring up the 2009 pre 52 run he appeared in like 3 or 4 issues apparently.
Now that he is fully integrated into DC and isn't a newbie but a somewhat older young man in a comic Universe that has Multiversal threats I think we can really see what he can do.
I'm not familiar with Black lightning, if he were stacked up against the Virgil from the Batman Beyond collab how would he fair?
I just read the new chapter of The New Titans when Static is being introduced to the titans and I really can't stand the melodrama. I was looking forward to a clean introduction and maybe going over his backstory. What I got was a rehash of the 2009 comic at a different angle but with bunch of 20+ year old people in a heightened state of emotions unable to communicate. They can give constructive feedback without attacking someone or take criticism without sending shots.
Bro had a max of 2 maybe 3 decent encounters.
I'm not going to spoil anything in detail but their was so many unnecessary things going on. I hope the following issue sees him incorporated without more needless black on black violence.
It was a funny little short comic and glad they made sure to address Deadpool 2099 was only a possible future but at the same time why wasn't Warda there? She's also Deadpool 2099.

Been listening to this audiobook series for a few years now and am currently on book 4 having had to take a year or two off the series between books 2 & 3. I like this series I really do, I like the power system, the depth of relationships, the character development and where it's headed.
The Narrator although she has some quirks in her narration, like constant deep breaths and pausing for needles dramatics even when the situation doesn't call for it, she has a breath of range that isn't common.
My problem with this series is solely with the author. This author is writing a great book but ruins with constant pushing of emotional baggage and the constant need for reassurances and affirmations.
This book is supposed to be about a abused and beaten down young man slowly coming out of his shell and blossoming with the help of the people around him who understand him. A progression fantasy that has real character development!
You know what this author does? He haults progression to a stall to explore the same pain from different angles and prospectives every hour before having a total meltdown for each character soon after. This was totally understandable the first book I was even emotional about it, all parties involved were hurt and trying to grow together and as individuals. I even pushed away my qualms about how the male mc acted.
You know what I couldn't stand? This being even more rampant in the second book, it was wearing out in the first book. The 2nd book? The 2nd book showed me a pattern I had already picked up on from book 1. This is a man writing a book using all the buzz words women say they like to hear. This isn't inherently bad, it's bad when it subtracts from the actual character! Book 1 was very standard teenage drama book 2 is more of the same but worse.
If I didn't know any better I'd thought this was a book written by a woman using a man as a disguise, with how poorly anything male is portrayed. I have read some of those type books and this fits. That being said female writers can create some of the most creative narrative driven stories and expansive worlds so this hyper focus on emotional fluxes and dramatics just seems like pandering to the female audience to me.
The MC is a big teddy bear who is full of insecurities and needs constant reassurances. There isn't an oz of masculinity in him besides the some times random spikes of possessiveness and desire to protect. It's like the author doesn't know how to write from a teenage boys perspective at all. On the other hand he is more emotional and empathetic than more females I know. Another reason I suspect that this book is written by a woman is because of the unnatural friendships the MC has, the 1st friend group is normal in this day and age but by the 2nd and 3rd book you'll notice a pattern (without going into spoiler details) it's like.
The reason I harp on this is because not only does the author push this in the readers face without remorse, they do it so frequently it actually subtracts from how far the story is able to progress. The pacing is completely thrown off by an hour long melt down every few hours and maybe less than 2 hours of actual action and progress. I like the social aspects of the book but then the author starts a new pattern. Is this person going to help, try to harm or investigate the MC? Will they or won't they explore more of their pain or share details. It's rehashed over and over in just the first 2 book! It's utterly frustrating!
By the time book 3 came around I was traumatized. I'm not joking. I was utterly disgusted in how much the author was milking the initial premise of each of the main characters. Turns out my worries were misplaced, if book 1 and 2 were used as comparisons then book 3 would be watered down.
Is there still a lot of drama yes, needless drama absolutely but I'd say it's down to 1/3 if not lowered entirely to 1/4. I don't even remember more than 2 or 3 total meltdowns. Not only that they were all appropriately placed instead of forced. Sure the male mc still isn't showing a spine, he constantly disassociates and is a poor representative of how men deal with trauma but it's not horrible. I'm on book 4 right now, I'm hoping this book (which takes heavy inspiration and pays homage to path of ascension) doesn't continue to be engulfed in derivative psychobabble about how overly sensitive each character is.
The author spent 3/4ths of each book exploring emotional topics while leaving progression sidelined. There is usually only 1 major fight a book with tiny events sprinkled in. This is waste of an great power system. I legitimately forget how it works because although the author talks about it constantly there is hardly in combat applications being shown so it's basically fluff. I hope it gets better or I'm going to have to drop the series which would be a shame.

Decided to get into comics because Static gets a new series. How does this relate to Deadpool? Well because I technically read Deadpool first years ago when I learned about him having a daughter but I was mostly swimming pages. Since I don't really care for comics and don't like DC's universe much I decided I'd read up on his relationship with his daughter!
I just finished D&D, made sure to go between Miles Morales Spider-Man for the crossover, read Deadpools & Wolverines, decided to even checkout All New Wolverines issues twenty and thirty something with both Deadpool appearances just for the heck of it
**Side note: Petition for Ellie to have 5 dads! She technically has Wolverines (Stab-daddy) healing-factor and Agent X is basically Deadpool but a telepath (read his wiki a few years back. I know what his deal is kinda). This way she can have two merc agencies and be sisters with wolverine's kids. I'd love to see her, HoneyBadger and Daken's relationship. Terry is of course still allowed to be in her top 5 dads**
So I decided to skim through Wade Wilson: Deadpool to see if Ellie appeared and wtf is is with issue #4 (or was it #5)? That shit better be fake cause ain't no way they gonna get rid of my new favorite best comic book girl named Deadpool right after she gets the ability to break the fourth wall!! Matter of fact they kinda turn her into a hard ass, from what little I could stand reading, right before the events happen.
Are they purposely trying to get rid of her for the series to make this Darker and harsher than it need be or is this an excuse not to bring her back till like 2030? D&D was already needlessly dark at times... Is this a running theme with Deadpools?

Apparently King Piccolo, the evil half of the nameless Namekian, son of Krataz had several Mutated children. I understand that since King Piccolo was corrupt it reflected in his unique power to alter his spawn, hence why other Nameks don't look like them.
My question is what stops piccolo from birthing multiple versions of himself like King Piccolo, letting them get stronger and then refusing with them?
Bro legit forgets all the powers he has, turning giant, instant duplication, fusing with other Nameks. He could probably keep up with a Saiyan if he just kept birthing himself and re-absorbing them. It could even turn into a unique Dragon transformation for him since all of his (Piccolo Jr) brother's seemed to have mutated Dragon like forms
I'll be doing some delivery gig work soon and driving a lot more frequently than I normally do. I might be a little paranoid but drivers are terrible and police aren't the safest to interact with in my area, so I want to make sure I and they feel as safe with our interactions as possible.
So to make sure we all feel safe I'd like to have a complete security setup meaning a dash camera system that sees front, interior, side profiles (where I'm driving, me, and both my windows) as well as an overhead camera to see the backrows of my seats, a trunk camera (inside camera not out) if possible and lastly a rearview camera (my car camera doesn't record just gives the view)
I don't know where to find such a setup and am ready for it to be expensive, preferably not , but regardless I'd rather not be subject to brake check scam or a swoop and squat. Or God forbid a bad cop trying to hit a quota (or as they call it "performance targets," "productivity goals," or "minimum activity levels")
I am not a comic fan, I did read manga and do read manhwa but I've always been intimidated by comics and their absurd continuity along with the problems inaccuracies cause. I have only ever read a select few chapters of comics I've been interested in

It has come to my attention that as a quiet adult you'll come off as intimidating and arrogant simply by being quiet, not shy or bashful as you would a kid. I'm a rather taciturn person and actively avoid being social but not adverse to being approched. I was made aware through a third party even the most extraverted individuals who approached me easily on a regular basis found I gave off the impression I didn't want to be talked to and everyone was generally wasting my time that could otherwise be used to work.
Besides my R.B.F I didn't think I was intimidating at all. The only thing that really clued me in was when I tried getting over my aversion to eye contact. I was practicing body language skills learned from Joe Navarro's books, every time I made eye contact even when being more talkative than normal, people would avert their eyes and take on a meeker disposition.
It's not that I want to be friendly or intimidating but I really don't know how to read into the situation. Are they intimidated, are they put off by my sudden change, is there something wrong withy approach, God forbid do they think I'm interested in them? I can't find the logical answer because I really don't want to talk to them about irrelevant things that aren't work related and it's kinda awkward to survey someone especially your manager's why they are suddenly acting like I'm reprimanding them.
All in all, to avoid the unknown variables that could cause misunderstandings I stopped experimenting. Now that I am considering going back out into the world I wanted to ask other introverts
