Dualsense features

Hi, still not sure whether to get the game for PC or PS5. Will it have any unique features exclusive to the Dualsense controller?

The best Plague Tale story hasn't been told yet

That is, not directly. We have of course learned about Aelia and Basilius and their tragic fate in Requiem.

I'm sure Resonance will be a fine addition to the series, but the story of the original Prima Macula carrier and his protector has the potential to be the most gut-wrenching tale that makes Requiem look like a bedtime story.

I'm picturing God of War/Hellblade-style combat with Basilius being a mix between Hugo and Atreus with various ranged rat-based powers.

The final act when Aelia breaks out of prison in a vein attempt to rescue Basilius, mows through an army of soldiers on the bridge only to succumb to her wounds makes me think of this scene from Hellblade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F72jkyfm2xY

New Combat trailer

Looks much better and less jankier than some of the earlier previews. Environmental takedowns also look pretty tight. It looks like they really took influence from Ghost of Tsushima. I hope there are some good boss fights and a Lethal-style difficulty for the Sekiro/GoT fans.

Any hype for Resonance?

The game is coming out in little over 2 weeks and yet I'm barely seeing any threads here talking about it. What are your thoughts? Hopes? Concerns?

"Lie or Die"

Did anyone else think "Lie or Die" was going to be an actual in-game mid-combat mechanic back when the first trailer premiered? I thought it would be some sort of Shadows Die Twice revival mechanic where you tell a lie and have another go at the boss but with consequences (maybe worse puppet frenzy or even more disease going around).

Turns out it if was just their "You Died" screen. Oh well. Still a great game.

Would you want them to introduce something like that for the sequel?

Billie Jean Soundalikes - The Billie Genome?

This is NOT a genre idea suggestion for the podcast. That said, I was thinking maybe folks here can help me find examples of songs clearly inspired by Billie Jean. Specifically the ones that share a similar walking bassline along with the stabby keyboard chords going Dun - Dun... DUN - dun.

So obviously we all know MJ's original:

Probably the best known song that heavily borrows from it is Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen. Apart from the drums, bassline and the keyboard riff, there are also some similar vocal melodies and the little funky single note guitar motif played throughout the song seems very David Walliams-esque

https://youtu.be/uxX2gA18grk?is=2RjXGvTICSM93Jw1

Another one I found is Help The Poor by Robben Ford. Same type of bassline and the dun - dun... DUN - dun keyboard riff.

If you guys can remember any other examples, please post them here. The baseline (bassline?) criteria are the walking bassline and the dun - dun keyboard set against a billie gene type beat.

Question for the devs

Is there any specific feedback/suggestion received from beta testers that you are definitely going to implement in the final release? If so, are you willing to share what those are?

Thanks

Did Alan Wake 2 already give us a preview of Mona and Max in the remake?

I was replaying AW2 + the Lake House DLC and thought the actress the plays Agent Estevez would make a pretty good Mona Sax. I know Remedy likes to keeps all their titles at least somewhat vaguely connected. We know that Alex Casey is Max Payne, Mr Door is Martin Hatch from Quantum Break etc... so is Kiran Estevez an alternate reality version of Mona?

Theseus

From the preview footage, Theseus seems to be voiced a female actress in addition to having long hair and quite feminine running animation (possibly using the same mocap done for Sophia). Are they going for the twist that Theseus was actually a woman underneath all that armour?

Arkane's Blade still alive and kicking, according to Todd Howard

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly as part of a larger story about the state of Xbox, Howard gave an update on Marvel's Blade. He said he's "not at liberty to say when [we'll see more]" of the game, but that he saw "some stuff" recently and "the folks at Arkane are doing a really, really great job."

Help me understand

Shutting down studios is nothing new for Microsoft - it's what they do, it's their vampiric lifeblood. There's nothing they love more than sitting on an IP and doing sweet fuck all with it.

But why show the trailer at their flagship event just a week ago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they likely would have signed off and paid for it to be shown. If I understand correctly, they are the ones handling the marketing side of it, not Ninja Theory.

So...what... did they literally see the Laufey trailer at SoP three days prior and go "quick, we need a flashy Woman With a Sword trailer of our own this Sunday! Someone tell Ninja Theory to send us some vertical slice footage for the showcase, and then shitcan their asses the week after, who gives a shit"

Feedback regarding controller rumble

Hi, I am just about done with the beta. Overall, I'm having a good time. My one main criticism would be regarding there being no vibration when you block, parry, hit enemies or perform finishers - not even when you fire the shotgun! The combat looked quite meaty during previews but now that I've played it for myself, I have to say it does feel a bit floaty and weightless due to lack of controller feedback.

I think adding vibrations to the actions mentioned above would make huge difference in immersion.

Perfect dodge

I really enjoyed the demo, looking forward to the full release.

My one complaint would be regarding the perfect dodge mechanic: while it does slow down time giving you an opportunity to lay a few hits on the enemy, it also messes with your timing. The first boss has a quick follow up after the red attack. It's very difficult to time a parry as you're just about to come out of the slo-mo mode so I often get smacked instead.

Not sure what the solution is, but maybe instead of multiple hits make it so you can only do one riposte attack after perfect dodge that interrupts the bosses combo chain?
