S01 E01 "Truth be Told" Discussion

A few days late on this, but I thought the pilot, at least, warranted its own thread.

Two of the show's four Emmy wins were for this episode - Art Direction and Cinematography.

Also, "Red Hair Is Better" is a banger of a track.

These districts, dating back to the Soviet occupation in 1940, when they were known as rayons, were abolished in the 2009 administrative reforms.

WGF RetroReads: Star Trek 60th starring Noah Wyle

Available for the next two weeks. Includes not only "The Man Trap" but also "Mudd's Passion" from TAS.

Paul F. Tompkins (Dr. Migleemo from Lower Decks) is MC.

Well worth watching; especially when lines get flubbed or they go hammy.

Benefits for liquidators

I discovered yesterday that if you're a liquidator and you're registered to live in Riga, Latvia, you get free public transport.

Does anywhere else do things like this?

Threads for the 1966-1973 series?

As we're approaching the sixtieth anniversary of the OG show starting - 17 September in fact - would people be interested in having threads set up for each of the original seasons at least? Possibly for each episode?

Will we get anything at SDCC this year for the Netflix live-action show?

Netflix don't seem to have announced their plans yet, but it would be a good place to drop a trailer.

Some pictures from the West Midlands Police Museum in Birmingham

This three-storey building in central Birmingham was used as a "lock-up" from 1891 to 2016 and would have held many an RL Peaky Blinder, especially if they had a court hearing the following morning at the magistrate's court, accessible by a tunnel.

Look on the bright side

We're not going to be the only side next season who are playing second-tier football in an old Olympic Stadium.

r/HerthaBSC have been doing it since 2023.

When did the "nothing to declare" channel become a thing at airports and ports?

When watching old movies or movies set before the 1980s, you see these vast halls with loads of tables where everybody's got their suitcases open, with customs officers glancing through them.

Now you can often can just walk through and Customs won't stop you at all?

When/how did that change?
