I know Sony didn't want to support Physint anymore for financial reasons but I imagine Kojima's comment on physical media pissed off CEO Hiroki Totoki.
Reasons why I think an all-digital future WILL hurt the AAA game industry in the long-run
While the internet is more common now, it's still not universal because most ones in rural areas can't physically get landline broadband, with wi-fi being the only option but the time and use of it makes downloading anything, especially games, a slog.
Another reason is that whatever audience the industry hopes to gain will find something new, and I'm not talking about us (the hardcore users) but the broad casual audience because that's happened to Nintendo during their Wii U days. The Wii was immensely popular and affordable among non-gamers but the marketing for the then-next console was so confusing for casuals, and the smartphones were in vogue, so they quickly moved on, with the Wii U only getting support from its most dedicated fans. Nintendo endured and thrived again with the Switch but any other company would've called it quits and dissolved.
It's not that an-all digital future will drive people away, it's that something new and unexpected will gain their attention instead, with only a small hardcore fanbase left to support it but that's not growth, and I doubt even we will stick around this time.
I don't know what will come and overtake the game industry but it'll be something the suits in charge could never conceive.
I had a dream where the Death Note manga was still an ongoing with nearly 1000 chapters
While walking through an ASDA (the Wal-Mart of the UK), I heard people gossiping about Light Yagami being resurrected for real for the upcoming 999^(th) chapter (people point that 999 is an upside-down 666), because all other times were fake-outs, clones, demons in disguise, body-doubles made to be they’re Light (not just Kira), etc. and even a literal giant Light stomping around Japan, but Light himself was still dead.
L is still alive for some reason (I don’t know how) and is the protagonist but there’s a revolving door of new and old characters. The entire saga has more conspiracies with the military, the Shinigami are at war with the Angels from Platinum End, there’s a lot of political satire (with Tsugumi Ohba being a crank), and the anime is on Netflix but the OG voice actors of Light and L are still there at least but I heard a clip of a government agent interrogating a gruff male solider voiced by Maile Flanagan for some reason.
It was wild.
I don't like blank slate protagonists
I know protagonists can serve as an audience surrogate by asking questions and responding the way a reader/viewer/player responds, but I can't stand the type of protagonists who are so boring and ugly compared to the more diverse cast of supporting characters with unique designs.
When I look at an anime or VN and see the main character as a generic nobody, I say to myself "Oh FFS!" and lose interest, wishing the protagonist was kicked out of the story altogether. What's also annoying is that they never respond the way we would if we were suppose insert ourselves into them. They don't feel relatable, so I judge always judge them on their own merits.
It's worse in a game if you can't customize your character or if you can't choose what they can say.
Mock-up thumbnails for what if Cody covers Transformers TV shows?
I genuinely don't like this era of the Playstation brand
I dread to imagine just HOW bland, unfullfilling and predatory the games for the Playstation 6 and beyond will be, compared to the ones for the older generation of consoles, because it's not the lack of physical media and pricing that'll suck.

In light of Quantic Dream really go off the deep end, let's remember the last time David Cage and his bros got into hot water.

What will retro gaming (current and future) even look like in 20 years?
We're at the point where the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii are considered retro and so many people will discover or rediscover. There a lot of problems because of DLC and patches being lost, as well as games that required servers to stay online and are no longer playable (unless you count private servers and modding). FFXIII is the last game I know that has no need for patches or installation at all.
How will the likes of GTA6 and other games be looked at in the future if they're no longer available to play and can't be tracked when digital storefronts are no longer accessible? Older games from the 80s to 2000s can be run on emulation but ones that come after are more difficult.
Happy Father's Day to Transformer's worst father Doctor Brian Jones.
Maybe there are worse dads in other TF shows, films and comics that I've missed but I'm confident in my choice.
There is no doubt the Big Bad Wolf is gonna get the biggest redesign for Shrek 5
I love Spyro but not enough to buy anymore games or merch, knowing Microsoft will use the profits to aid the IDF's ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.
In an alternate timeline, Dreamworks has made the most critically and financially successful Final Fantasy movies.
Concept ideas to bring Misha and Kicker into Cyberworld.
What if Transformers Cyberworld introduced Mini-cons with designs based on Energon/Superlink's Misha and Kicker, that can transform into weapons each one can wield?
Kicker would be named after Blaster but turns into the Requiem Blaster while Misha is called Saber and turns into the Star Saber.
It would be a cool way to give Kicker and Misha another chance without the baggage from Energon.
Nevermind G1. How do you feel about the Michael Bay movies from the perspective of being a fan of the Unicron Trilogy? Was it a tonal whiplash?
Note: This isn't meant to dunk on one or the other, although I has some gripes with the movies being so overtly 'murica compared to more collaborative efforts between multiple countries.
