Ancythra - The Ever-Expanding Pocket Dimension

I created the original Ancythra map in 2021, and decided recently it needed a “glow up” (pun intended!). So, I went about remastering it over the past couple of weeks, putting roughly another 10 hours of work into it.

The dimensions of the original map were 1200x1600, which is pretty small compared to what I usually make now. But, if I were to upscale it, that would require re-doing many parts of it from scratch. Plus, some of the methods I used back then don’t upscale very nicely anyway, such as the way I used to do the mountains in Photoshop.

So rather than re-do it all, I decided to lean a little more into a sort of “pixel art map” style.

What does that mean exactly? Once I was finished remastering the map, I exported and rendered it at 400% with no re-sampling (what Photoshop does when re-sizing an image). This made each 1x1 pixel become a 4x4 pixel block. Now the map's dimensions are 4800x6400, technically speaking. This gives it a sort of retro, pixel-art type look when fully zoomed in.

As always, no AI was used.

Lore:

Lore-wise, Ancythra began as a regular Pocket Dimension, which is another dimension that is usually rather small and self-contained.

But this particular dimension has somehow grown over time, just as our real-life universe does. Constantly expanding outward. More, and more, sometimes absorbing other pocket dimensions into itself. This has resulted in some odd acquisitions, strange fusions, and plenty of magical weirdness that has taken root in this ever-expanding dimension.

Over time, Ancythra has expanded and mutated. It has grown to the size of a small continent, floating and rotating in the Astral Plane of existence. Pieces often break off as it grows, but the rate of growth still exceeds the rate of loss.

It also has portals to other Planes as well, making Ancythra something of a "cross-roads" between other worlds and dimensions. Not unlike the City of Sigil in the Forgotten Realms, probably known best from Planescape: Torment.

This map would fit well into most existing DnD and tabletop RPG campaigns, as it’s a separate location from the main worlds you are already playing in. A small world that can be added in as a new place to visit, almost like an “expansion pack” for your ongoing game (Shivering Isles, anyone?). At least, that’s how I like to think of it :)

There are additional versions available here, as well as an editable Photoshop file to swap out the text however you like, and a few other toggle-able layers. More details in the link: https://www.patreon.com/stoneward13/posts/ancythra-ever-171702141

I hope you like the map, and have a good weekend! :)

Map of Atheios, +Worldbuilding - A map and setting inspired by the Bronze Age, and Greek Mythology (Free) (No AI)

ATHEIOS - Land of the Gods

Atheios is a world that is still in the middle of the Bronze Age, and as such, many of the regions on this map are poorly explored, or poorly understood. I’ve intentionally left large chunks of the map without roads or names, as there have not yet been many mortals who have explored these places, or at least returned to civilization after attempting to explore them.

There are Thirteen Gods, once again inspired by the Greek Gods, that rule over Atheios. The magic system at play here is based on the classic Four Elements of the Earth, the Winds, the Flames, and the Water. There are 12 different countries, and a number of smaller tribes as well, and just the very edge of a large Persian Empire-like country.

Basically, if you recently saw The Odyssey in theaters and like me, you wanted to play in a similar setting for your next RPG campaign, Atheios is intended for exactly that :)

This map is 5300 pixels by 4500 pixels. It was handmade entirely in Photoshop by myself, without the use of any AI tools, as always. The entire process took about 45 hours, but that doesn’t include the time spent writing the 20 page Campaign Frame PDF that I’ve released alongside the map, which took an additional 30 hours or so.

And lastly, there are many X's on the map, marking Locations of Interest, or Landmarks. Most of these are a sort of off-white color. However, just for fun I placed 13 different X's that are at 40% opacity, much harder to see. These are hidden across the map. Anyone who wants to seek them out can search for them, and see if you can find them all. And I'm including an "answer key" in the last image, where they are all circled in red as well. Just a little fun extra I thought I'd add in :)

And, here's some more worldbuilding :)

THE GODS

The New Pantheon

There once was an older Pantheon of Gods, over a thousand year ago, before the current era. A time when different Gods ruled over Atheios. These were Stone Age Gods, usually referred to as the Titan Gods due to the immense forms they preferred to manifest in. These ancient Gods were brutal, and utterly without mercy. This was an era of great tragedies and injustices.

The brutality of the Old Gods eventually led to a Great Uprising, where Twelve Great Heroes rose to fame and power. These twelve men and women gathered and led an army on Mt. Daimenus, which served as the Home of the Gods back then as well. The war was terrible and long, but ultimately the heroes were successful, and the Old Gods were forever cast down. All but one were slain.

On that fateful day, those twelve Great Heroes Ascended, and they formed a New Pantheon of Gods.

Tales of this time are often contradictory, and the true events shrouded in a great deal of mystery. For the specifics of how precisely one might kill a God, and especially how one might take their place as a new God, are secrets that the New Pantheon all unanimously agreed were best kept hidden.

Many mortals do not truly believe their Gods were once Mortal, viewing such tales of Ascension as fanciful stories, even borderline heretical. It is a matter of some dispute among the many different sects and cults in Atheios.

The Twelve

There are twelve Gods who rule over the Lands of Atheios. They each exist in physical bodies, with humanoid forms. Each of them is capable of using the power of their Godly Domains to travel instantly anywhere in these lands. They can even briefly inhabit and control the very Elements of their Domains, shedding their physical forms for a time. Becoming the Storm, or embodying the River, for a short time.

Each of the Godly Domains are an integral part of Reality itself, sometimes referred to as Threads, each of them woven around the others, combining to create the very Fabric of Reality. The Threads bind together, and ensure the proper laws of physics. Should ever a God perish, or become “unwell”, the very Fabric of Reality will become threatened, and can even begin to unravel, with great consequences.

The Threads are what the Gods manipulate when they alter Reality. Their connection to these Threads is what makes them Gods.

The Last Titan

There exists also a Thirteenth God, known by most as the Shepherd, who exists outside of the New Pantheon.

He is one who is older, a relic of the previous pantheon of Titan Gods, and the very last of that all but forgotten era. He is very unlike the other Titans, however. They ruled with an iron fist. The Shepherd is calm and quiet, and above all, patient. He does not rule over Atheios as the new Gods do, but dwells mostly in the Underworld of Souls, but even there in the heart of his domain he does not “reign” as one might presume.

The Shepherd guides and ushers souls, always busy with his Work. Though he is often depicted as a hooded reaper, or with skulls and other such imagery, his true appearance is that of a stern but fair grandfather, with a long white beard. Gentle, encouraging, with kind eyes and a comforting smile. But his will is iron, and his decisions are always final. One does not bargain with Death itself, nor can any swim against the flowing currents of Time.

His behaviors and perspectives are strange, unique, and he is usually unwelcome amongst these newer Gods. But that is not to say he is hated by them. It is merely uncomfortable to converse or interact with him, for he is the God of Death, Time, and Prophecy.

The Twelve cannot kill him, though a few did try for a time, in those earliest days. But the Shepherd is a necessary part of this world, and his Godly Domains are seemingly integral Threads, such that they cannot be removed from Reality without disastrous consequences. Mastery over Time itself results in a God who is rarely if ever taken by surprise.

There are very, very few temples built in honor of the Shepherd, but as with all things, there are exceptions. Small temples and shrines, typically built from black stones or obsidian, can rarely be found in the shrouded corners of Atheios. They are often adorned with black wax candles, and when lit they flicker with black flames that cast no light, no shadows, and emit strange coldness rather than the heat one might expect.

A Map of the Isle of Avalon & the Fallen Kingdom of Camelot (No AI)

The Isle of Avalon & the Fallen Kingdom of Camelot

This map and setting is a full re-imagining of the many Arthurian Legends. I thought it would be fun to create my own spin on the original story, while also creating a custom setting that would also work well as a D&D or TTRPG setting.

I imagine a few people will look at this map and the history I wrote and go “well that's all wrong, XYZ happened in the original stories”. This is all intentional on my part, most of what's written for this map/setting is NOT the same as you might remember it. A lot of it is "remixed", and some parts are completely changed. This is something new, but still inspired by the old myths. And, let’s be honest, there are already many different versions out there of the original stories, often contradictory sometimes. This version of mine just goes a step further in reinventing everything.

The history on the side bar mostly details a time period far after the death of King Arthur and friends. This map depicts the island roughly 500 years later, in the mid 1200's. Avalon was lost, Camelot fell into ruin, but now it has been rediscovered. There's many mysteries to uncover now, many magical artifacts to seek out, and many dangers and enemies to overcome.

I hope you like it! Constructive feedback is always welcome.

This map is 4020 by 3340 pixels, and was created entirely in Photoshop. A few royalty free images were used for city location icons, and lightly modified by myself. No AI tools were used, in the creation of the map, or in the writing. All in all, this took about 35 hours of work from start to finish.

This map is fully free, but there are additional versions available here.

Intel 14700KF and BIOS/Microcode Question

I recently bought a new PC, and it has an Intel 14700KF CPU. I'm aware of the 13th and 14th gen BIOS issues with the microcode, and I want to make sure I'm okay.

In my system information, it lists this:

BIOS Version/Date	American Megatrends International, LLC. 19.01, 9/25/2025

And in my BIOS boot menu, it lists this:

UEFI Version : Z790-C 19.01

So am I understanding that my BIOS version is up to date, and it DOES have the microcode fixes? I tried to google my question but there's some confusing answers out there that might be a bit beyond my ability to understand.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

You may use it for any purpose you like, so long as it is a non-commercial project, and as long as credit is given. If you would like to request modifications to the map, send me a message and we can talk.

The map is 5120 px by 2610 px. The Reddit preview is compressed to keep it under file size limits, but the full size versions are free on my Patreon. Made entirely in Photoshop from scratch, across about 5 hours. No AI was used, as always.

I made a handful of different versions of the map, each one with different levels of humidity, rainfall, and overall "dryness".

For all free subscribers on my Patreon, there are 2 versions of the map:

  • Thayora Regular
  • Thayora Dryness 60%
    • Dryness 60% is effectively the desert version of this map.

For all paid subscibers on my Patreon, there are 7 versions of the map:

And, also on the patreon, for both free and paid subscribers, there is an Map Icon pack available for free. These are the very same icons I've used on some of my other maps in the past. They have transclucent backgrounds, and can be applied to any of my blank template maps to mark locations likes Cities, Villages, and Locations of Interest. The icons can be placed in Photoshop, Foundry, Roll20, GIMP (Free Photoshop), Microsoft Paint, or really any photo editing software you prefer.

I hope you like the map! Feedback is always welcome as well. Thanks for reading!

[OC] Lands of Thayora - Multiple customizable versions, plus a free Map Icon pack (5120 x 2610) (No AI)

Here's another blank, customizable map!

  • Thayora Regular
  • Thayora Greener 150%
  • Thayora Dryness 20%
  • Thayora Dryness 40%
  • Thayora Dryness 60%
  • Thayora Dryness 80%
  • Thayora Dryness 100%

There is a preview image of all 7 versions as part of this post on Reddit as well, just swipe through the first two images in the gallery to view it.
