We have a new [SPOILER] in Lobo #3
In short it's a >! Mauve Lantern, which happens when a person's glee overwhelms a Green Lantern rings willpower !<
Headcanon: Since Ben's Transylian form is based on Frankenstein's Monster, then Gwen's form is based on The Bride of Frankenstein
Ik how that sounds but that isn't what I mean by it, I just think it'd be cool to differentiate them a bit
Do you consider Gutrot and Whampire good enough for the final two aliens, when it comes to their abilities?
Like as in how impressive or powerful they are for the final two aliens?
All the Andromeda aliens fight on equal footing. Who wins?
Classic Vilgax vs Norse Kratos (only Leviathan Axe)
What if Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote the Harley Quinn fart comic?
[Writingscaling] How well written is Ben 10 compared to the literary works of Fyodor Dostoevsky?
Tom Kane, the voice actor of Ultimos, has unfortunately passed away today
He also voiced Donovan Grandsmith and Arcticguana in Classic
Why are people so shocked that Chromastone is a bum? He literally debuted in the same episode as Michael Morningstar, it was fate.
There is no good love interest for Ben Tennyson.
Now before I start this rant let me start with this, this is not about Ben's behavior at all, in fact I'm looking at this from both sides of the story, so I will try my best to be as unbiased as possible, because I've been very vocal about my distaste for Ben's relationship issues at times
Now I will start my rant and hopefully you read through this
- Julie: Now, of course, Julie is the most controversial here, no doubt about that, she was his longest running actual girlfriend and we all know how it goes, but I wanted to delve deeper and I wanted to sort of ask why people are so stuck on a relationship that was for the majority, really bad, and I think it's less about Julie herself (ofc people still feel sympathy for her, but I don't think that's the main reason) but more about what Ben's character was to them, like his change from AF to UA was obvious, but I think the biggest consequence of that change was always Ben and Julie, everything else was salvageable, but not theirs, it just kept getting worse. Now, as for my actual problems with Julie it's the fact that she was a good enough love interest for AF Ben for the most part, but when he became what he was in AF, that was going to be his character from now on whether we liked it or not, yeah it sucked but you can't also deny that fact, and Julie wasn't going to be compatible with that version of Ben, not even in the slightest, they didn't bounce off of each other, they didn't feel like two characters who were interested in each other, it just felt like two argumentative friends with a boyfriend girlfriend label slapped on it. It was never going to work because Julie. Julie was good for that one specific era of Ben's life that being AF S1-2, but for the very long lasting era of Ben's life, she wasn't a good fit.
She was into that humble, not as rambunctious, but still helpful Ben before he became a full blown superhero but she wasn't ready for the superstar celebrity intergalactic saviour of the universe, a fully actualised Ben 10, he changed and she wasn't the person for him
And there was also the many times they made Julie weirdly argumentative and insensitive, like the writers were trying to say 'Oh, Ben isn't the bad guy here, Julie is' Julie was also very much mischaracterized by the writers, but no one really noticed but we focussed too much on Ben. But the thing is is that they've never been really integral to each other's stories or how they grew as people, Julie just felt like the writers wanted to add a love interest and did all they could to make her atleast more involved but that screwed up badly. They were never integral to each other's story. J
Now the next ones are short so
Esther: This one I feel is more so the fact that she isn't a very interesting character, interesting idea and concept yes, but on her own, she was just kind of bland, and in my opinion, just felt more like a way to show us that Ben was this cool guy, I think what makes a good love interest is personality and having their own character outside of their lover, Esther wasn't that, she felt reduced to being this cute girl that clung to Ben's side at times and it felt like a fling and not a serious relationship. Which it was
Kai: Oh Kai, this one I feel is what alot of people are gonna agree with but I wanted to say this, Kai has good chemistry with Ben, she clocks his ego when it needs to be clocked, except for the fact that she shouldn't have to do that in the first place, because Ben feels so much more dumbed down and incompetent in this weird way to make Kai seem right all the time, a good relationship requires actual balance, and it's never that at all, it's always Kai being made too argumentative to make Ben the victim in the situation, or Ben is too dumbed down and ignorant to make Kai the hero of the situation, it's the inverse of Ben Julie, Kai wins, Ben loses. Like yes, I made a whole point about how this is Ben's character now, but it just felt like they made him more incompetent than usual
And this whole destiny thing never made sense, why did Ben just suddenly resign himself and accept it and why did Kai herself also accept it and let it happen? And for what? They fell down on a banana peel and they kissed and we're supposed to believe all their arguments are invalid?. It was incredibly forced
And as for the rest it's the same thing all the time
Looma and Eunice are boring, interesting ideas, but boring personalities made to show us how cool of a guy Ben is, that's what they are
Jennifer: No
Attea I think irks me a bit, because she did feel like her own character separate from Ben and a good female villain which Ben lacks, and then she's made another crutch to make Ben look cool
And it's not just that, with Looma and Attea only liking Ben for his aliens, it kind of shows us how Ben isn't attractive enough personality wise, which I grant is valid, but still unfair, also I want you to image if Ben was a girl, and two guys attacked her and tried to force her into a different form for marriage, not so cool now right?
Elena was just a shitshow I will not talk about, you didn't need to make her a yandere
I made this post not because I'm once again complaining about the bad romance, I'm making this post because I've seen alot of people think that Ben has his own definitive love interest like 'Mary Jane' or 'Lois Lane' but the I don't believe that at all, I don't think there's any character in the show that complements him at his most balanced and feels like his own character and only complements when he's at his worst or at his less excitable.
Kai complemented Ben at his absolute worst, Julie complemented Ben at his absolute best, but couldn't handle him when he became what he is now, neither have ever really interacted with Ben as he should be written and as he should be acting, and Ben is written out of character to force a chemistry with these girls
It's my first time watching Friday the 13th and Steven was really fun to watch
Like other than Tommy I wasn't particularly phased by any of the other protagonists if you'd call them that, like Steven was REALLY kicking ass, although he could probably be nicer to his buddy
If the Omnitrix was sentient, it would be considered one of the most toxic relationships in fiction
Ben slapped it, ripped off it's screen cover, caused it to be in self destruct mode, threw it away for 4 years, tried to hijack it, blew it up, replaced it with another girl- I mean watch, then replaced that watch with the new and improved version of the old watch, and still kept slapping it.
I hope the comic doesn't make Zombozo a jobber like he usually is
I've recently become interested in killer clowns, and I've decided to look at Zombozo and it reminded me of just how repetitive this guy's plots were like
Like it's the same formula, 'Ooh, look at me I'm so scary' and then one character or another gets angry and scares the daylights out of him it's the same thing
Like sure in Classic it made sense, with Ben getting over his fear and foreshadowing for Zs'Skayr sure, but to do that twice more just feels unimaginative
Like, I do enjoy the Reboot Zombozo more on account of the fact that he does more...but he's also not scary in the slightest
Zombozo was like, the earliest horror focussed character in the franchise so hopefully they do him right and give him more than just the same plot
Julie's dad the most strong willed character in the show because if I was him I'd strangle Ben for doing Julie dirty on like multiple occasions
Were Verdona and Max bad parents?
You know I kind of realized something, Verdona and Max were married, but from what we've seen of how Frank and Carl talked to their parents, it was less than friendly. So we atleast know that Max has a rocky relationship with Carl. Frank, is probably more closer with Verdona
But the weird question I have here is, since Max was always busy and away and left the kids to be raised by Verdona.... isn't that like a really bad idea? Like if you think about it really, Verdona is a horrible person in general, it was pretty obvious that she played favourites, so did Max just let them be raised by her for the most part?
Didn't Verdona leave when they reached adulthood and came in from time to time? That's kinda fucked up, but given her nature it makes sense
But I kind of feel this makes Max look bad more, because he seems to have no problem or regrets with his marriage to Verdona, and was probably having an open marriage with her, and she also probably had an open marriage.
But...can we atleast think about their kids case? One parent is barely home, the other is straight up asshole at times and favours one son over the other which is kinda fucked up.
